[UtahJazzNotes] The Utah Jazz and New York Knicks have had productive talks on an Obi Toppin deal. Hold up in talks to this point (flashback to the summer) has been Utah wanting an unprotected New York first round pick, NBA sources tell @UtahJazzNotes

  1. “Knicks have only been willing to offer protected picks that they have aquired from other teams. Source said this being a sticking point has made talks “awkward” and “feels like groundhog day”” @UtahJazzNotes

  2. I think this probably means that there are discussions. Last time there was all kinds of crazy “leaks” too. I leaked details might be for posturing and total BS but I guess they are taking

  3. I can’t think of anyone on that team that is worth losing Obi that they’d actually be willing to trade anyway. Let alone losing one of our own FRPs on top of that!

  4. They’re trying to hold on to the last minute to see what team gives them it. Hope the Knicks stand pat and don’t part with an unprotected

  5. If the hangup is an unprotected pick then there is no deal. In no way should the Knicks be giving up that much and Toppin for a young and untested player and a salary dump. Leon needs to move on and find another trade partner. Bc Danny Ainge is a prick if that’s his price.

  6. Rumors are they were offered 2 seconds for Vanderbilt by a west coast team. Beasley and Vanderbilt are not worth a first. We already have Fournier. Offer protected or 2nds and move on. I actually think Obi is better then them so i would want picks to trade Obi but i get that Vanderbilt probably fits Thibs better.

Meh just keep Obi, he has a higher ceiling anyway. Vanderbilt is a nothing burger you can find defense only guys in the draft and Beasley plays no defense. Jazz are over valuing these guys. Theres a reason they have moved from team to team so much in their short careers.

You want Beasley so bad then just play Fournier.

  7. Vanderbilt is a good player. Beasley would be great for bench points. But really dont think an unprotected is worth it.

Just grow a sack Leon and trade a haul for an actual young needle mover.

Shouldve just done the Donovan trade if we’re gonna waste picks on non needle movers.

  8. There’s no way we should be giving up an unprotected FRP in any deal that doesn’t involve an all star caliber player

  9. Bro unprotected picks are so rare these days that they only get offered for top 20 players and this prick Ainge wants one for fucking Vanderbilt?

    That’s LAUGHABLE.

  10. Yo what the fuck is this? Tell ainge to suck our new york dicks and fuck off. This is horseshit.

I defend leon rose on this sub, i think overall hes done good, but picking toppin over haliburton only to trade obi with an unprotected 1st for a chucker scrub like beasley will turn me against him.

  11. Fuck off with this trade, none of the Utah players really move the needle for the Knicks to give up Obi and picks for

  12. I’d be interested if Ainge was at all reasonable and decided to trade Clarkson for decent value. But we all know that would never happen. Clarkson would be an amazing 6th man.

  13. Fuck this, Obi has value and potential. Beasley and Vanderbilt aren’t going to change the outcome of this season, what the hell is the point

  14. Fuck Ainge. Dude swindles a dipshit team one time and he thinks he’s some kind of genius.

  15. No thanks. I want 6 firsts and 3 starters for Obi. Mitchell set the market, don’t blame me.

  16. fuck that. it’s #FreeObi all day cuz he deserves better, but better ain’t in fucking shithole utah…

  17. Unless it’s Clarkson, there’s no reason to be giving up an unprotected first. Even in that situation, I’d only give up an unprotected for this season, nothing later than that.

  18. Whatever problems folks fairly have with our FO, gotta shout them out for so far managing to avoid having been baited into any bad trades.

  19. Don’t care about losing Obi whatsoever, he’s a 15 min fringe rotation guy. Would hurt to give up an unprotected pick in the process tho

  20. Fuck Utah, there is nothing they have that is going to make us a contender to value an unprotected pick. Why do we even bother with them.
