  1. Didn’t realize it was so bad lol. All this shows is the lions edge rushers going to be feasting in the coming weeks when we don’t got to deal with this nonsense.

  2. The real problem, and it has been a problem for years, is that on any given play there are 3 players on the offensive line: the center and the 2 eligible receivers. Last night was just the most egregious it’s gotten.

The quarterback cannot be on the offensive line when he’s under center… but both his tackles will routinely be lined up behind him. Its just one more thing to pile onto the heap of what the NFL considers judgement calls, a heap that includes the cosmic certainty of the linear passage of time.

  3. This game was like a bad episode of Sesame Street with a happy ending.

    ONE. ONE FALSE START.

    TWO. TWO FALSE STARTS.

    THREE. THREE FALSE STARTS.

And so on and so forth. The number of the day is the amount of false starts the Chiefs were not called for.

  4. Re-watching a few of these and they are honestly just goddamn impressive perfect timing. But yeah the majority are just blatant false starts.

  5. a nearly 5 minute video and he didn’t actually count.

I’m not going back to watch it again to count.

I’m just going to say he false started 70 billion times in that game. Seems close enough.

  6. I’ve mentioned this a bunch of places, forgive me, but the league has allowed tackles some leeway with false starts for some time. It is not a rule that is followed by the book. Obviously, this is done to keep QBs upright, but the rules should be changed. His being lined up illegally should never be allowed, however. The holds they got away with should never have been allowed, either.

  7. NFL had to protect the new face of the league now that Brady is gone! NFL is scripted! Why always against the Lions? Shelia should have went over and slapped the $@&! out of Goodell.

  8. Was a dead giveaway that it was a pass play every time and they still shut him down.

I’d say the Lions staff saw it early and pocketed calling it out until they were in a spot they absolutely needed it.

Fast forward to final Chiefs drive, holding call to be 2nd & 20. Make mention of it. Bam, flagged Taylor for it and force 4th & 25.

    Ball game.

  9. All of this sucked. But add on the holding no calls where you see hutchs shirt being pulled as he clearly had the edge. I was so fn mad

  10. In a 2pt position….a player can move, but has to be set 1 second before the ball is snapped. In a three point stance…once his hand hits the ground, he can’t move at all. Which makes damn near every one of these plays false starts.

  11. One takeaway from watching this for me is how improved Hutch’s bull rush is. False starting or not that massive RT was getting moved by 97

  12. Lot of these just straight up weren’t false starts though. They know the cadence and snap count. He’s jumping backwards at the exact same time the center begins the snap. We also don’t want these refs acting like this is a track meet where if its within 0.01 of the snap its a false start. Sure there were some that he was jumping tooo early. But it wasn’t all of them. The problem was while someone like Lane Johnson does it, this was a case of he was pushing the boundary by a lot and was never forced to stop or at least get it to a more reasonable level early on.

The bigger problem is where he was lining up, and that he kept moving (rocking and his leg was moving hella leading up to snaps) BEFORE the snap.

  13. Don’t worry everybody they’ll send a memo out to the refs next week and that will fix everything. /s

  14. Ref fines need to be a thing. You can’t officiate a game this fucking bad in a pro league without consequence.

  15. The Lions D-line need to start there rush as soon as Taylot moves and point at him when the play gets killed by refs. The Lions didnt start there movement forcing the refs to throw a flag. They will need to call it out more. Get an assistant coach to get in the refs ear something. If Hutch starts his rush into Taylor after his twitching and the rest of the line is still it will push them back 5 yards at a time.

Lions coaches will have to get the refs ear regarding lining up a 1-2 yards or more behind the LoS normal position.

  16. Watching this vid “oh it must have restarted” NO THIS IS 4 MINUTES OF FALSE STARTS!

  17. 27 false starts and more than a handful of illegal formations by my count. They finally threw a flag on the 27th…

  18. They went through all of this last playoffs with Lane Johnson, I think they even may have done a thing on it during the Super Bowl? Or leading up to it at least. As annoying as it is, it’s not a penalty.

  19. I can’t for the life of me understand how the refs allowed it. It’s so blatant that the announcers even called it. I mean all game I watched it in awe.

  20. To me the illegal formation is far more egregious than the false starts. A lot of the “false starts” are within the rules, such as moving or swinging your leg (but you have to bet set and sometimes he was never set). A lot of them are borderline calls in terms of the leg swing rtimed with the snap, but the illegal formations were fucking ridiculous. My man is lined up nearly 2 full yards behind the center at times.

  21. NFL having to state it’s not a scripted season is already ruining their credibility. Not calling 30 plus holds, offsides and illegal formations is just a travesty. NFL won’t comment because they know what they’re doing

  22. I’m a chiefs fan. He was embarrassed last night. Hutchinson made him look silly several times. I hope the lions kick ass this year.
