Should the Bengals think about getting a new offensive line coach?
September 10, 2023
The Bengals have made big FA signings for their offensive line and nothing seems to be working. Is this the time that we start to reconsider our options at the position of OL coach.

Offensive line was fine.
I saw fans in here defending Jonah Williams a few weeks ago, so there’s that.. having someone who gave up 12 sacks last season start on the other side thinking it’ll change his play is insanity lmao
Burrow did not play well coming off an injury. Plain and simple. That is why we lost.
Yes. This guy’s has done nothing
Absolutely. How many years does this guy need to get it fixed?
The o line really wasn’t that bad today. Joe was historically awful, we gotta be able to admit when our guy plays bad and stop scapegoating.
We’ll be fine. Stop calling for firings every time something doesn’t go our way.
Yes
Let’s see how the line looks by week 5 before we start calling for heads
Our o line was not the reason we lost. We objectively better the same time last year. Play calling is our issue
Of course. He was awful in Dallas and he’s awful in Cincinnati.
I don’t know what the coaching staff expects when the starting OL gets zero reps in the preseason. Same as last year
I don’t think so. But he coaches better with big nasties. Bengals just don’t have the big nasties. Earth movers. If you’ll remember, Taylor let him go to begin with, because his offensive lineman were going to be different. Zac Taylor’s O-line is going to be more finesse. Frank needs glass eaters. He has Volson & hopefully Orlando brown, but that’s it. No knock on the other great pass protectors..(who all played together for the first time today) ….but Volson & Brown are the only true mean physical run blockers. So, the line will settle down like they did last year after the 2nd game & we’ll be ok. Just won’t be able to ram the ball down anyone’s throat when we have to.
1 game in and people are already calling for heads to roll. r/bengals is so back
I don’t think the o line was nearly the biggest issue today.
Nah… but we should consider writing up zacs play calling…. Again
I’ve been saying this for 2 years.
Joe overthrowing everyone combined with some terrible playcalling lost us that game, not the OL
Yes-terday
Is he the one calling the plays?
Social media is dragging us hard and mocking Burrow for being “benched” after being made the highest paid player in the league. I know it is one game but I don’t think this year is going to be a fun ride.
Stable organizations don’t fire people after week one. We went to two afc championship games back to back. Next question.
Practically everything was bad on offense today, offensive line included. Not sure what game the “o line was fine” crowd were watching. Maybe they weren’t the worst position group on the field, but they were bad.
Actually much better offensive line compared to last year games against the browns
Honestly, the offensive line was fine given the opposition. Jonah still sucks but hopefully Collins can clean it up
I didn’t think they were that awful today. Joe was not good. It’s ok we all love him but he can have bad games and we can acknowledge it. The rust was the big factor I’m sure and he’ll get it corrected. The o line only allowed 2 sacks with a team that has Myles Garrett probably the best defensive pass rusher in the NFL not named Nick Bosa. They’ll be fine get the annual bad game against the Browns out of the way week 1 when they haven’t usually started off all that well under Zac.
Burrow was decleated on the first play of the fricking game. On a 2 step drop at that. Yes burrow was bad. The offensive line was also just as offensive as they normally are.
The browns line gave up more pressures and sacks then we did
It’s one game, Joe was ass y’all. He can be our savior, but it’s also okay to admit when he struggles. Pollack hasn’t had much talent at the position to be frank. This is the best he’s ever had with us.
We don’t have a run game and our play calling sucks. Our defense shouldn’t have to play the whole game.
No. No we don’t. After one game we let other fan bases throw crazy stuff out there. From now on we stay sane.
So no we don’t think about getting a new OL coach 60min into the season.
Put oline picks have never lived up to their potential and are always sub par to par at best
Yes
Lol. You people are ridiculous. It’s one game. Relax.
You know whose fault this really is? Zac.
The criticism should stem from drafting three OL in 2021 and missing on all three: Carman, Smith, Hill.
YEA
They should. This is an annual issue. The Browns have a had a great O-line for as long as I can remember. There is no reason they can sustain success and the Bengals can’t. Gotta look for an improvement soon. I’m sick of watching Burrow run for his life constantly while every other QB has a year to throw.
Am I crazy or was the oline good enough to win? They should.be a very good pass rush but it didn’t feel like they took over the game or anything and it seemed like Burrow had time. Actually walked away thinking better of our oline after thinking about it. It’s not like the AFCCG last year where they gave up sacks at really crucial times or the Steelers game.in week 1 where before he could finish his drop back he had 1 or 2 guys in his face.
How about a new offensive coordinator. The play calling today was putrid.
This game really wasn’t on the Oline it was the scheming, communication, and burrow to be honest protection was acceptable and they had a decent run game
Two sacks against a pretty good dline and you are jumping ship.
