Belichick on passing up FGs to go for it a few times on 4th down: “Did what we felt was best for the team. If we kicked, you would’ve asked why we didn’t go for it.”

  1. No because we would have won the game lmao.
Reminds me of when we passed up kicking two field goals against Denver in the Afc champ game, when the game ended up coming down to the 2pt try…

  2. He’s right. The only reason anything is being question is because they lost. If they won and made all the same decisions, no questions. In the end, it comes down to the execution of the players on the field.

  3. Nope. I would have been happy with the 3 in that situation. This team is not good enough to pass up the easy points.

  4. This is just the non-answer. They made a decision and obviously bit them in the ass later down the road.

  5. Patriots fans: “why doesn’t Bill go for it on 4th down?”

Bill: *goes for it on 4th down twice in the first game of the season*

Patriots fans: “WHY ARE WE GOING FOR IT ON 4TH DOWN?!??!?!?!?!”

  6. It was an aggressive but defensible choice. The first time they went for it would’ve been a long kick and the second time they were deeper and 3 yards should’ve been pretty doable. I understand not wanting to waste the field position in their shoes. Obviously, it didn’t work out and might’ve cost us the game, but hindsight is 20/20.

  7. I mean the team was in position to win the game if Boutte had toe tapped. Can’t really shit on the decision that much.

  8. I’m fine with it.. been asking for offense to be more aggressive and put some faith in em.. they gotta do it given the chance..

There were mistakes that killed em.. zeke not turning around on time leading to the sack.. a deep sideline throw away on 1st down – bad play call. If you know you are in 4 down territory, throw a run-in or a screen on 1st down.

Hopefully, bill Obrien improves as he gets to know his offense moving forward.

  9. I love Bill and I love that we allow mortals to ask him questions. I wonder if he even notices they are there, if they allow him to get better sleep.

  10. Hindsight is 20/20

They were still in the position to win the game at the end. If Boutte can drag that second toe could’ve walked away with the win…

  11. If I remember correctly, at that moment they would still need to score a TD, there is no way they could had known they could have made it with that FG. I liked it they went for it.

  12. No one would ask if it was made and we won. Hindsight is always 20-20, but to me, it seemed like the wrong choice

  13. No we wouldn’t have Bill, not with 9 and a half minutes left in a game when your defense was playing lights out

  14. He is correct. Personally I am glad to see them be a little more aggressive, especially the way they were playing. Absolutely a different look from last year.

  15. not when they were already in the red zone, down by 5. you take the points, nobody would have questioned that. plenty of time left in the game at that point too. Defense was stellar all day, you kick the 3, and trust your D. Completely stupid move to pass that up and it cost them

  16. Bill the snark works when you win, it was impressive we went for it on fourth down to extend the drive when we were out of FG range, the second time was questionable and it backfired. Backfired to the point where we could’ve actually been in more control to win the game if we kicked for the 3 points.

Make me regret posting this comment a few months from now. But on that decision today you done fucked up, own it and move on

  17. I liked it when they converted. But I didn’t like it when they failed. Make of that what you will

  18. That was a bullshit call. 4th and 3 and you run it? GTFO with that crap. Go for the FG, and we win…
