This is called “NFL open”. (DJ Moore corner route)

Remember years ago when fans were pointing out Trubisky missing open dudes like this? And we were told that we were overreacting and didn’t understand game film?
I mean, sometimes fans can be right.
It’s not like this was some random player, either. This was your WR #1, your top offseason addition, a guy you NEEDED to get the ball to.
Absolutely. Backshoulder towards the sideline. It’s open.
No more excuses for Fields. He is Mitch with top-end speed until proven otherwise.
Was this the pick 6?, I’m genuinely curious to what he saw here that would make him want to throw to Mooney
This was my concern. The OL has not been good by any means, but I couldnt imagine the Packers secondary had our receivers blanketed all game.
I dont think its time to abandon ship just yet, but if we dont see major improvements next week, I imagine a lot of people are going to be talking about that 2024 QB class.
His eyes are on Darnell and Chase not DJ nor I believe Roshon that play. He probably looked it off but then didn’t come back to right up the center guy barreling down on him. Nate Davis did nothing all game.

That’s also DJ Moore right there…one of the best WRs in the league until he landed on our roster…so with someone of his caliber that is WIDE OPEN
I love how you made the lines and right dab in the middle of his line of sight is a free rusher (along with two other uncovered rushers to the right)
It’s no use man. The Fields truthers will defend this until he literally wins NVP as a joke and then is the backup for another team, just like they did with Mitch. Then once we are on to the next guy they will act like they claimed Fields was shit all along.
Single read QB. We had one of those recently, I think he was the NVP of 2019
Post the film not a screenshot
It’d be one thing if he was missing guys but Fields isn’t even seeing these types of passes
all 22 is gonna be really ugly for the people in here saying Fields was the least of our problems.
C’mon man, in the screenshot the safety is looking right in the backfield and there’s a free rusher right in Fields’s line of sight. This has interception or PBU written all over it. Fields didn’t have a great game but this screenshot isn’t one of his bad plays.
1. Justin Fields isn’t even looking in that direction. He’s loaded up to throw down the center of the field. The defenders react to what Fields does.
2. The corner is staring at Fields. The moment his hands separate he’s going to drop out and break up that pass.
Throw the fuckin ball to DJ Moore
You don’t know what the reads are though…
Look at him staring at Mooney and probably been staring at him that whole play.
Top to bottom disgusting. Fields included.
lmaoo that line’s blocking
Thats called NFL getting intercepted if you throw that ball. There’s 3 defenders within 5 yards lol
Giving Fields the old Trubisky Game 1 in Green Bay treatment.
This is the INT play? Fields did say after the game he should have thrown the corner to Moore instead, but I forget his reasoning why he went to Mooney. Hopefully its a learning moment for him.
For those who are defending the Bears or think any throw to Moore is an INT or sack, this is the same play GB ran 10x on 3rd down and converting 8/10x against the Bears. An NFL QB is supposed to be able to make this throw between the DB and Safety as the WR heads towards the sideline. Moore has about 4-5 yards of open space if the throw is on time.
Looks like an INT to me.
And the three packers defenders playing zone that would get that ball?
Fields literally said post-game “I should have thrown it to Moore”. Debate over.
I see… oh shit guy on rights coming… oh shit guy in middles through… oh shit guy on lefts coming uhhh read one now uhh dead…
He said he should have thrown it to Moore in the presser so what’s the point of this?
Dress Bagent week 2. Put Fields on a short lease. Pray the line finds Jesus.
Don’t post this crap if you don’t know what you are talking about.
Look where he is looking. You can see the C on the right side of his helmet, which means his progression is to the right. By the time the progression makes it there, fields would have been demolished by the 4 defensive linemen that beat 5 offensive linemen. That is not open.
Caleb Williams can’t get here soon enough. This stupid ass loser team will probably ruin him somehow though.
Not sure what everyone in here is going on about saying that’s not an open throw. That is definitely open if Fields puts it in the right spot (which I believe he can). If it’s toward the 45-50 and at the sideline it’s a catch.
I’d rather him make that throw and miss/get picked than stare down Mooney over the middle and throw an even more blatant pick.
Look at Fields’ head. He has something more important to worry about than the timing on that throw.
Either change the protection, change the route compliment to allow for something more shallow, run the ball, or just punt.
Fields even said he should have thrown this to DJ in the post game. So did the A22 and this screenshot.
Don’t defend a bad play bc you went all in way too early on this kid and now there’s egg on your face. Sweet jersey of “HIM”
Justin Fields is a running back playing QB
This is why you guys need a quarterback, not a running back who throws once in awhile
That safety up top is maybe 5/6 yards off of him from what it looks like in the picture. His hips are square and in a standard back pedal. As soon as the safety sees Fields commit to that throw he’s planting and breaking on that ball. He’s basically baiting Fields to throw that pass. Fields would have to deliver the perfect ball to complete that, while getting pressured none the less.
With the defender right where DJ is supposed to go?
Moore is open.
This is a pretty simple read. The safety is not a factor. Justin needs to read the corner, if corner gets depth he can check down to flat, if corner stays low, that’s easy throw to Moore.
Tell that to the delusional morons on this sub blaming getsy and the play calling lmao
Can we not do these freeze frame bullshit every game. It’s unrealistic and simply negative. You could not pick every game, every qb, with missed “open” guys. Literally that safer could slide in and pick that shit off given that window.
Also, fields needs to be better
It’s not that simple. Look at the hips of the corner and safety on the left side. They’re both positioned to break to that route. That corner isn’t covering the flat which I’d say is the more “open” option here.
Could Fields fit it in that window? Probably. I get why he said he would like that one back. But we’d have to know what coverage they ran to really know the level of egregious this was.

To make it even worse, Love faced the same 3rd and long situation, same play design, similar coverage at the start of the 4th quarter, and was able to [**do this**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=5ZYR6sYUx0nZP4xv&v=BwVylUiQI74&feature=youtu.be&t=9m52s).
