From Dean’s perspective. It’s a farewell and shows his character nicely.

Evasion was straight class. Going out with his head held high and he should be. He was never supposed to be the long-term option but he got this team way over performing the past couple years. I will look back at deano wayyyy more fondly than Mike yeo. Definitely in the Boudreau tier for me which is a compliment
I wonder since the Wild are asking the state to help with $300 million to fund the Xcel Energy Center renovation, if the timing of this isn’t somewhat related (or not)? I mean the team was not playing that badly as of late and did appear to improve. It just didn’t show up on the scoresheet. I really think Guerin has overestimated the roster he has and will find out that we are a mid level team that IF they were to make the playoffs, it would be as a wildcard team and would quickly be extinguished one and done. I think that is an overly optimistic wish.
Dean is one of my favorite coaches. This team overachieved under him and this rough stretch is not a reflection of his ability to coach. Ultimately he coached this team to success with disgusting cap hits and gave us a lot of fun hockey. I will miss having him around.
I hope a team picks him up and I hope he wins a cup as a coach one day.
##### Former Wild coach Dean Evason on his firing: ‘You just know. You have a feeling.’
> As deflated as Dean Evason looked and sounded Sunday afternoon in Detroit after the Wild lost a seventh straight game, he hadn’t run out of ideas to try to snap the team out of its funk. > > “We put a video together on the day off of playing fast and getting out of our zone,” Evason said. > > But before Evason could show that video to the Wild ahead of their Tuesday game vs. St. Louis at Xcel Energy Center, Evason was called into Wild headquarters on Monday by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin. > > Evason was fired.
– > “I have no ill feelings,” Evason told the Star Tribune on Wednesday morning. “I’m very proud of what we did. Certainly, Bob and I were let go, but I’m very proud of what I did as a head coach here. > > “I’m just thankful for being given the opportunity to coach here in Minnesota. It’s been fantastic.”
– > “He came out from behind his desk, and we hugged,” Evason recalled, “and then we had a great conversation.”
Damn. Kind of hurts when read from his perspective.
