Amazon Buys NHL Streaming Rights

> The agreements provide a potential path for DSG to continue operating its regional sports networks beyond this year. As part of the restructuring, Diamond agreed to sell the streaming rights to the MLB, NHL and NBA teams that it possesses to Amazon. The latter figures to create some kind of package on its Prime Video service for an additional fee.

  1. There’s no guarantee Amazon isn’t going to ask for a ridiculous amount. Basically you have to be a prime member + subscribe to the ad free Amazon Video Plan = Then you can buy the NHL/other stuff you don’t watch sports plan for $30 a month.

  2. I wouldn’t mind this. I don’t live in MN anymore and I can’t justify paying for Hulu/ESPN+ just to watch the Wild whereas I already have a prime membership.

  3. While I understand some folks’ gripe with Amazon, I think this is good overall forwhere we are at streaming wise. Bally had an awful app, and poor execution streaming NHL games which is all I can speak for. Amazon, for all their ills, have a much more stable streaming platform and app. And for that, I am excited that, if I have to pay, at least it *should* be much more technically reliable based on my current experience with Amazon streaming.
