I just got around to listening to Beyond the Pond from this weekend and Russo gave an update on the Yurov situation. At about 1:01:25, he says that Guerin is still actively negotiating with Yurov's camp to get him over for this fall. The main sticking point in negotiations is apparently that Yurov wants max bonuses. Even though Yurov wouldn't likely hit several of the bonuses, they'd still have to be factored into the cap calculation which is tricky when we still will have cap issues next season with the last year of $14.74 million in dead cap. Russo noted that Faber understood this issue last year and did the team a favor by not putting any performance bonuses on his ELC in years 1 and 2 then just $250k in possible bonuses for year 3.
From what it sounds like, if either Guerin caves and is willing to give Yurov the max bonuses ($3.5 million for a total AAV of $4.475 million) or Yurov decides to cut out some of the less reasonable bonuses, he could be playing at the X this October.

Are you sure about this? I’ve never heard of an ELC having anything close to this kind of cap hit. Or anything over $950k for that matter.
The Wild don’t really have cap issues next season unless something is planned for this summer though. $9.5M to sign/extend 1 goalie, Chisholm who will be cheap, and 1-2 4th line forwards. I guess there’s a chance of needing 1 more defender if you don’t think Spurgeon comes back, but then you also have 7.6m in LTIR open.
Seems like it would be worth risking it as it’d mean adding a top 10 goal/assist/point scorer, 1st or 2nd team all star player, or major trophy winner. Plus you get him out of Russia early if that’s actually a possibility.
