I had a dream last night we traded him, he gone.
It’s all smoke, we’ve seen this before
I could see it, 25-27 million a year for the extension.
It won’t look like Smith’s.
For one, it got reported as a 3yr/$75M deal. But the exercising of the 5th year option is part of this deal. According to OTC that figure is currently listed as $12.591M – however he meets the the playing time boost. It should actually be a minimum of $15.591M. So it’s actually between a 4yr/$21.9M & 4yr/$22.65M deal.
Aiyuk’s 5th year option was already exercised, so that is off the table. His AAV will end up coming in quite a bit higher. The most likely projection is somewhere between $26M-$28M AAV.
There’s also a major difference in contract structure, where the Eagles did what they always do. The deal includes almost no base salary, which makes it nearly impossible to restructure down the line. This is a typical Eagles strategy. It cost them half of their defense last offseason. Instead of that base & restructure capacity they use option bonuses, which are technically a little safer, but make no sense if you know the player is going to be around for the length of the contract.
That’s not really how the 49ers operate.
One of these three things going to happen: A. We get an insane amount of cheddar/picks/players for him. 2. He gets a big bag. C. He plays on his fifth year contract.
Is he traded? Oh well don’t care wish him the best and hope his replacement is game.
He gets extended? Don’t care happy he got his bag don’t have a mid-half year.
