what’s going on guys Andrew pilik hocky here back again with another video and I am super late to this okay I am a little bit late I I’ve been off for a couple days here on posting content but I needed to talk about this and I’m sure you guys were wanting to give me your thoughts so that way we could have a little bit of a back and forth but Craig baru is the official head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs it has been set in stone now the Maple Leafs have their new head coach after Sheldon Keefe was fired so if you guys are new here and you want to hear more Maple Leafs content I’ve got a lot more videos I’m recording another trade rumor video right after this video make sure to like And subscribe I know there’s a ton of you guys out there watching uh that don’t realize that just liking this video and subscribing does help me a lot um even if you know maybe you don’t like me I don’t know if you like me like it if you dislike me dislike the video that’s okay too we’re not always going to agree on everything but it does help a lot but I’m really excited for this move I think the map Leafs needed to get a coach that had a little bit of experience and baru definitely comes with that experience so the map Leafs announced today but it wasn’t today it was a few days ago now uh that Craig Bru has been hired as the hockey club’s head coach as we said Bru is 58 years old he’s a 32nd head coach in Lea’s history and I’m not going to read this whole thing but out of this of course you could see his Rec record his winning record over 500 almost a 600 win percentage uh he’s a Stanley Cup champion of course with the Blues in 2019 he got them their first title in franchise history and he was a finalist for the Jack Adams award and we do know that he’s coached in different uh leagues he’s coached in different teams and he’s also a former Maple Leaf baru actually played for the Toronto Maple Leafs which is really cool he’s uh he’s coming back home the the guy is coming back to a team uh that he played for but I think people look into that a little bit too much so baru uh was a tough customer on the ice there’s literally videos of him fighting Brendan shanan which is hilarious he’s beat up taomi which is pretty hard to do uh like damn like be like fighting either of those guys would be tough imagine fighting both of them in your career he fought a lot of tough guys but baru uh obviously as a coach is going to bring like I said a ton of experience but he he brings a lot of leadership in terms of like it’s not just you’re you’re not just going to get this guy as like face value of he’s going to coach this team to be a better hockey team he he’s a leader on and off the ice uh and and former players have spoke about this you know I believe it was Colton pero the other day saying that you know he gets everybody involved as a team like there’s a team Bond there’s a team aspect to this where it’s not just like oh you know uh he he’s he’s an individual stack guy that’s not what it is he wants this team to be un un ified and play as a unit and I think that that’s something that the map Lees really need and again I do respect Sheldon Keefe and when he was hired I do believe he was right for the job at the time but this team didn’t take a step up because he also didn’t take a step up we were expecting Sheldon Keefe to grow with this team and grow as a coach and it seemed like he got a little stagnant and maybe he just needs you know a fresh um area to to get to and maybe that’s New Jersey I don’t know but I do respect the hell of Sheldon Keef he was very classy on his way out that video was not necessary and he did it he took full responsibility but the map Leafs need a guy now that’s going to be a snot no coach he’s going to get in there and make these guys play harder he expects a lot more from his core you know there’s videos of him saying yeah our core players get paid a lot of money and this is when he was in St Louis and saying they they haven’t done anything they’re not they’re not playing up to their to their value they’re not playing up to what they’re being paid and that’s something that Sheldon ke didn’t really pick on um the whole team you know he they he was vocal about neander in the media sometimes but he was never really vocal about guys like Matthews and Marner and even Morgan Riley at times so baru will come in here and expect a lot from these guys and he will expect players to go out there and and be physical and play hard because I was reading also I can’t remember who it was but these are all like former Blues players talking about him I’m trying to think of who it was it was very recent uh but it’s always been like pretty positive stuff about how he expects you to go out there it was like a rookie talking about the fact that he had scored a goal and he was really happy about his game but the coach said hey you played well but I need you to be more physical on the four check and that’s something that the map Leafs don’t do they dump the puck in and they hope that they create a turnover because you know they’re quick and being quick and whatever is good but you need to instill in in the minds of defenseman on the other team that you’re coming to attack them you’re coming to hit them and that they should be hearing footsteps when you’re behind them and the Leafs are going to have to acquire guys that can do things like that it’s not just going to be you know let’s just turn our skill guys into physical guys they they need to show a little bit more of that and that’s something that I hope arub unlocks with these guys but the map Leafs need to go out there and and find players that can do a bit of both and there are some free agents this year that I do believe can do a lot of good things and can bring that physicality and that grit to the team and you know we have a couple free agents on our team uh DOI and bruzi that aren’t afraid to get a little physical and score some goals so I feel like these are baru type guys so hopefully they get resigned but the what I really like about what people are saying about him is that he does expect that team bond that team unity and like he doesn’t like people who play as individuals so again this just this just starts to to make me think that this fit is better than I originally thought you know I again who wouldn’t have loved a guy like Rob brind deore to to be here but I think the Maple Leafs probably as soon as the Hurricanes were eliminated maybe sent some feelers out there to see hey like what’s the situation here and maybe it was shot down immediately and they’re like we can’t lose out on baru we got to get this guy immediately he got a four-year deal from Toronto and it looks like he’s going to be the guy to hopefully help this team get over that hump of being not just a first round team but a team that can make deep runs and win a Stanley Cup that’s obviously the end goal but the baru needs to come in here in this first year and and really make it known that this team is not just going to fall back and and allow teams to be you know all over them in the playoffs and not score goals and not play as a team because he took that Blues team he was a part of that Blues team that literally was so bad and they they got into the playoffs because they just started playing hard NOS they started scoring they played as an entire unit and they won the freaking Stanley Cup and they were a terrible team before that they were going to sell off most of their team like there was trade rumors about half their roster going into the deadline and then they just they were like you know what screw it we’re we’re going to be a team that wins hockey games we’re not going to we’re not going to fall back and you know I look I look at now moves and trades that they should that they should make and it’s like what’s next now you’ve got your head coach now let’s get some guys in here that want to want to play for this team and would run through a wall for for the the logo on the front and for a head coach that that wants them to to run through a wall pretty much and play as a team I love that I think that the qualities that people are sharing about baru are just fantastic and uh and I’m really hoping that these things are true I’m really hoping that these things uh are are going to make people want to come here and play for the Toronto Maple lefs he’s he’s a tough coach so that that could be a bit of an issue uh if players like being coached like that but too bad at this point the the Leafs need a guy like that and we’ve had them in the past but maybe this fit just makes sense okay maybe this is just the guy that’s going to get them to that next level and I’m really happy about it I think it’s a good move I want to know what you guys think and what is next what move should be next for this team I know a lot of people like oh trade Mar or trade this trade that let
