It all makes sense now
It’s honestly pretty fascinating that there isn’t a preferred side at all
This is the kinda of useless trivia that I thrive on
This is the conference alignment we should be basing off
Every team should swap sides and see what happens. I’m serious.
I’m team left.
Do broadcasts always face team benches or do some face penalty boxes?
And Montreal, Carolina and the Islanders have opposing teams back up goalie isolated from their teams right?
You’re doing the Lord’s work🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Can’t wait for the broadcasters to start incorporating this data into their random stats they feed us.
Yes, 97% of away teams trailing by 4 going into the third on Tuesday afternoons end up losing, BUT WHAT ABOUT JUST THE ONES PLAYING ON LEFT CAMERA BENCH?!!?!
I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE AND I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!!!
Anyone remember watching games where the camera faced the penalty boxes? That was weird, but also funny
Ha, my mom was just noticing that Edmonton is opposite of ours and was curious about other teams. Now I can show her this spreadsheet!
I’m gonna throw this in here. I don’t want Dallas to go to the finals because the TV camera angle is awful. How do you put up with that Dallas Fans?
Wouldn’t it be easier to defend if your bench was on goalie side 2 out of 3 periods? And opposite
Getting a head start on the offseason, are we?
Thank you for this.
I was wanting to do this when I saw Edmonton shots on the right twice. However, you beat me to it.
fascinating. some are right, and some are left.
Hell yeah ducks are #1!
The real mystery will be what the Utah Whateverthefucks will do!
This isn’t useless. Now, I’m an idiot so I can’t do it. I’m sure there’s someone here smart enough to break down all the numbers and find out which side is advantageous
oh we’re total right siders
He’s got. ……..
TO MUCH WONDER, I’VE GOT TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS ITS TICKING AWAY WITH MY SANITY I’VE GOT TO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS…..

The only possible advantage this could give is if your team had more talent on a given wing, or possibly a liability on a given wing.
The side of the rink that has the player benches would technically be more cluttered with players changing, so breaking out on that side could be more difficult.
I’d like to see a spreadsheet based on bench size and whether the locker room can be accessed directly or not.
Back in the day I recall Bowman having the visitor’s bench be actually smaller to make things more congested.
Been watching hockey for almost 40 years and never realized it was different lol
You’re right it is useless and doesn’t matter because their goalie is on the same side as the bench.
Home team “shoots twice” at the furthest net from their bench.
