Islanders Captain Anders Lee Wins 2024 King Clancy Memorial Trophy
I get the pleasure to introduce someone that got me into this and his name is fena Pier Louie and he’s a cancer survivor he is probably the most inspirational person that I [Music] know years back was trying to figure out how I wanted to get in touch with the community and and find a a passion in this and was fortunate enough to be introduced to Jamie crims who is really the backb of this foundation and started this thing up in a backyard in New Jersey once we got it talking and we thinking about what what uh we wanted to do in the midst of that I was able to meet phop and that’s when this thing really took off you can draw a straight line Andre sees that speech decides to have his own event as a result of that Zack bosan sees a video from Andrew’s event he decides to have an event in Buffalo Kevin shaton Kirk reads the tribute piece that Andrew writes in the play Shu about fenov he reaches out to Anders and says I want to have one and Ryan MCD says I want to have one and it just it keeps growing and growing I dearly hope that other cancer patients will one day be able to erase the word cancer from their vocabulary and I am confident that every single one of you here today is getting us ever so closer to that future he’s just a special kid why Beyond his years he’d been battling this neuroblastoma for for many years and he just had a great presence about him he spoke about anything that you can do for kids and families with cancer there’s absolutely anything I can do to help out kids and adults with cancer whether it be speaking at an event like this or helping out to organize one I to jump at the chance we felt that it was a great idea to do something similar in that regard and and honor him with you know a scholarship in his name for kids that are good in their communities and and take uh a lot of pride in in their school [Music] work he’s kind of the heart and soul of all this a reminder every day of why we do these things not only me but everyone that’s got a chance to meet him or take part in these can jams I think that you know his his time that we had with him is going to going to last a lifetime

Islanders Captain Anders Lee is the 2024 King Clancy Memorial Trophy winner. This award is for leadership qualities on and off the ice and noteworthy humanitarian contribution to community. Anders, with the help of the Kancer Jam program, has been making an impact in cancer research for communities all around the nation.
