You can watch the ASL broadcast on ESPN+ in the US and Sportsnet+ in Canada
That’s cool that they’re doing this but would it just be better to watch without sound? I’m not deaf but I’d rather not take my eyes off the game
Screw Florida, I hate Florida.
it’s so great that they’re doing this for all the blind viewers!
I love this. I’d watch all sports without the commentators and just have the crowd noise if I could.
How do they sign players names ?
That’s fucko g aq and am wondering what took so long?
Awesome
Why sign language when we have cc
Finally, the deaf can now know when a goal is scored while watching a game.
Thanks for the hearing damage with this video. The ASL may come in handy after all.
I actually would like this broadcast to be the default. I’m not deaf, nor did I pay attention to the ASL much. I liked the emoji and the lamp lighting lol along with the noise meter. Made it feel like a video game the way it hypes it up. Plus just pure crowd and ice noise, makes you feel like you are at a game!!!
Okay this is great
Wow this is awesome! I lost majority of my hearing last year and haven’t learned ASL yet but hopefully this becomes more widespread in the future
I would be curious to learn from a deaf person how practical it is to observe both the game and the commentary simultaneously. Personally, if I’m watching a game, I don’t really need the play by play anyway … I can see what’s happening. If I had to take my eyes off the action to see somebody describe that same action, Im having a hard time imagining this making the experience better. Of course I don’t know ASL and I have no idea what’s it’s really like …
This seems like a great way to provide color commentary during stopages in play, though.
Maybe it’s because I’m watching on my phone but I did a double take making sure that wasn’t Mike Rupp and Cam Ward
Just lol at that “Crowd intensity” meter. It’s so off that it’s clearly just random with an “ENHANCE!” button that some random dude presses.
Can anyone translate? Is it still color and play by play? O is each person representing a different team because the one guy seems happy while the other isnt excited about the goal.
I dig it
I see the hand gestures for “that was a sick goal” are the same in ASL as they are in American English
Thank you kindly, I didn’t know this broadcast existed. I hate commentary and am totally going to tune in to this next game and maybe from now on.
This is awesome that they’re doing this!
Why would you need ASL for this? Why not just have subtitles…?
It’s really not necessary. The game speaks for itself. I personally wish I had the option to turn off announcers.
I wonder…if they signed a curse word…would they blur their hands?
