the NHL draft combine has come and gone has this solidified any Blue Jackets thoughts on who they’re going to take at Fourth overall or has it just made things a lot more complicated we’re going to little bit about the uh the draft itself and and the rumors and things that we’re hearing there and I want to talk about the monsters I want to talk about D PUK I want to talk about how the monsters are uh still fighting to keep their season alive after two very strong games in uh in Cleveland and uh we’ve got got a lot to talk about so uh let’s let’s let’s get right into it let’s start off with the combine uh all the combine news updates Etc um for a long time oh not for a long time but for a while now the Blue Jackets have been given Anton salv as the mock draft pick um basically universally um then combine comes around and I believe the two players that the blue took out to dinner were Kaden ly and um Becket senica who is that was a kind of a surprise to me um I know we did we did an episode on him last week or the week before uh but he wasn’t really someone that I was looking at to be in that in that kind of group of people that the blue dragonss were like hey let’s take them out for dinner um and so usually what happens is teams only get 20-minute interviews at the combine if they want to spend more time with the prospect uh then they’ll take him out for dinner and then you know it gets a different set it’s a little bit more informal perhaps I wasn’t surprised to hear that Kaden Lindstrom got a dinner invitation um I was a little bit surprised that TJ gindler didn’t get a uh didn’t get an invitation um that being said Ivan toov and um Anton Salia were not at the combine because they were both in Russia and I believe it’s very ref I believe for Russian Prospect to uh to come to the combine it might be something to do with their contract situation in the KHL I’m not 100% sure but no demidov no um no salv so take you know take the the dinner invitations and everything with a grain of salt uh what is interesting to me is well there are a couple of things that are interesting to me um number one is the ca thing which we’ve kind of talked about uh number two is uh that there is Rumblings that the Black Hawks are interested in taking ar time leion of second overall which again I’ve talked about this on the show they have a lot of good small forwards they could use a big defenseman um or you know any high-end defensive prospect really um this doesn’t surprise me uh passag on demidov is is going to be tough for them I think but hey I’m not going to complain if they take lein off um I don’t think that the the Ducks are going to take de off that opens deav up to being available for the Blue Jackets at Fourth overall there’s Rumblings he might drop even further he might get to number five Montreal I don’t the Gil drop past five um but it does mean that the Blue Jackets will likely be taking one of demidov uh Lindstrom or the outlier TJ gendler in in this upcoming draft which is very exciting um I think salaya if levanov goes to the Blackhawks I think Salia likely goes to the Ducks I don’t see the Ducks taking a forward they already have you know swapping gby Dale for K goer they have so many they have too many top def top forward prospects right now and I know that you can never really have too many Prospect but I think another defenseman in that group especially a big one like Salia I think will be will be good for for the Ducks we know that they like prospects with size uh anyway um so we’ll see how it goes um I’m feeling positive about the draft more positive and this is kind of it I’ve been thinking a lot about it kind of over the weekend is slash end of last week like obviously new GM is going to listen to The Scouting Department he’s going to take take into consideration what the organization wants and needs but I wonder if the draft thoughts have shifted slightly since bringing woodell on board and I know he didn’t do a ton of the Carolina Hurricanes drafting I know that was I want to say Darren York um the the AGM for the Hurricanes did a lot of the the draft stuff and The Scouting and whatnot so maybe he’s content to let the scouting Department do their thing I was interested to see kinan at the combine he’s obviously still under contract with the Blue Jackets they just relieved him of his duties which I guess means they’re going to pay him until July 1 and he can kind of do what he wants he was at the combine he was working with v siren and Trevor Timmons who are the kind of the leading uh Scout guys in the organization so and I’m I’m fine with this like I’ve said it on the on the podcast before like I’ve said it a lot um keal’s strength was scouting it was drafting if he wants to help this team out with the draft then that is absolutely a okay fine with me um but I am interested to see if kind of as we get closer and closer to the draft all of these Rumblings all of these rumors kind of come out about like the Blue Jackets are shifting from defense to forward or shifting from salv to someone else or you know Sal is not going to be available at at 4 or somebody else’s going to be available at four that they didn’t think was going to be you know I saw one mark draft that had Kaden Lindstrom going third overall and that free div to me do up again to be to be available at Fourth for the Blue Jackets which I had kind of um made my piece with him not being available at four I will say if he is available at four and the Blue Jackets pass on him that’s going to be really tough to swallow um but we’ll see like I said the draft is is what two and a half weeks away right now I think so I I can only assume that the rumors and the Rumblings and everything is going to get louder and louder and louder as we get there and we might not know who they take literally until that exact moment before they announced the pick so we’ll see uh going to talked a little bit about the draft we talked a little bit about the Rumblings now we’re going to talk about the monsters who uh went down 3 nothing in the series against Hershey and Hershey Bears who again the best I think like the second best AHL regular season team in a 100 years in the history of the league um they were like one percentage Point short of having the best win record in in American Hockey League history it was an insane run for them they didn’t lose back-to-back games all season they went up three nothing on the monsters who two close games and then one blowout on in game three in Cleveland which was a surprise I think it was 62 was to Hershey was the final score monter came into the game on uh Thursday needing a win to keep their season alive they did it just was a 3-2 win um gree was excellent that fourth line continues to be great um and then again game five they came out Hershey scored first and then the Blue Jackets SC the Blue Jackets excuse me the monsters scored five unanswered goals to win 5 to one um so still alive the series is still 3-2 in Hershey’s favor um the series have gone back to Hershey which game six is tonight game seven if necessary will be on Wednesday the monsters need to win both of these games to make it to the ca Cup Final [Music] um they won’t quit you know this team is not going down quietly I think when the series went down to um 3 nothing in favor of the Bears everyone was a little bit like uh oh what’s going to happen here but monsters pulled off a win pulled off two wins again in terms of Hershey’s uh back-to-back losses okay quick correction um the Hershey Bears have lost back-to-back games all season but they have not lost in regulation back-to-back games all season that was I think uh three they lost uh in overtime and then in regulation and then in overtime for three games in a row in the beginning of February I want to say and then in the beginning SL middle of October um they lost it overtime oh no that was a that was a preseason game so that doesn’t count so yeah that’s the only they’ve lost back-to-back games one time this season they have not lost back toback games in regulation all season they just lost back toback games in regulation against Blue J the monster I don’t know why I keep calling them Blue Jackets wishful thinking I guess um this is the first time all season that Hershey has lost back toback games in regulation and they uh they looked good while doing it the monsters did like that was a a fantastic bounceback game from them the offense came alive great to see Brandon G to get his first to the playoffs obviously he just joined the team at the start of this series um jck gavves was fantastic 33 saves on 34 shots um Josh Dunn continues to be a leader on this team like that fourth line again and I know we’ve talked about how you know you need your traic kenis to wake up you need your James mesters you Luca Del B losers we um Tyler angles ideally Mel PES but Josh Dunn continuing to lead the way uh has seven goals in uh I think this is game 11 for them or Game 12 for them um currently leading the team in points uh 11 points in 12 games seven goals um Justin Pearson right there as well two goals nine assists for 11 points in 12 games uh that line is is getting it done um David Urich has 10 points in 12 games like he’s been fantastic um just lots of lots of good things from the monsters in the past couple of games and they need to keep that they need to keep that alive because again it’s it’s it’s lose and go home you know they need to win tonight in Hershey which is going to be so tough to do um they need to win again in Hershey which again is going to be so tough to do um in terms of Hershey’s Like Home and Away uh record like they that is a a tough tough building to play in okay in terms of the Bears and their home record they only lost seven games at home all season H they only lost 19 games all season overall but at home had a record of 29 and 7even uh on the road they had a record 2470 and five so like again it’s it’s basically um the same they just managed to win five extra games instead of losing in overtime five times um but they are a tough tough team to play against in their own building um the monsters on the road have been fined so far in the playoffs obiously they lost those opening two games uh to to Hershey they lost a game in Belleville then came back in won the second they didn’t lose a game in Rochester so we’ll uh we’ll see how it goes their record on the road is 20110 three and three so 20 wins 16 losses so they’re about 500 but there was ever a time to beat a team it’s right now you know I think it’s it’s tough It’s a tough ask um I by the time they went down three nothing I admit it I was like okay maybe they win game four and then bow out gracefully in game five uh the gentleman’s sweep if you will or the uh the [ __ ] sweep depending on on which way you like to uh you like to call that but as of right now moners are still alive and hopefully they uh they get a stay that way we are we are crossing our fingers um we’re going to take another quick break and then we get back I want to just finish off by talking a little bit about um D PUK who made his Pro debut on Thursday H got his first pro point on Saturday so uh we’re going to do that in just a second here on lock on Blue Jackets welcome back to Lo on Blue Jackets uh we’re talking all about the Cleveland monsters right now and all about or we’re about to be talking all about D matuk who is H fresh off of a fantastic season his final season with Mo jaw um of the WHL WHL defenseman of the year uh WHL playoff MVP um just a truly insane season from him has come to Cleveland uh was here watched game three I believe got into the lineup in game four um made his Pro debut looked excellent while doing that got power play one time um and looked honestly it looked like early Seth Jones in Columbus on that blue line it really did and maybe that’s me like maybe that’s wishful thinking maybe that’s me being over dramatic I like I thought he was fantastic in in game four I thought he was even better in game five I am so so excited to see what this kid can do obviously he got his first pro point it was a primary assist on uh on Josh dun’s game-winning goal so first pro point in the books first game winning assist in the Box looks excellent playing with um he’s playing I believe in a pairing with um Marcus Bor mostly but is getting power play one time and he’s playing with um David Urich on the power play as well and that is just a combination that I like a whole bunch um and it feels very much like yes this is the future of the Blue Jackets Blue Line um I don’t think that they will play on the same pairing next season but these two together look extremely extremely competent and good and everything that like y’s weaknesses are muk’s strength and vice versa so like you absolutely you love to see it U muk’s Got the speed the skating the Finesse EUR got the size the grit that bomb of a shot from the blue line um I have liked watching those two on the same team and on the same line together so so much in admittedly limited time this postseason but that’s why the monsters need to win tonight so I can keep watching these two play together um because I’m not ready to stop watching the monsters yet um like I said monsters have game six in Hershey tonight at 700 p.m. Eastern it is another Do or Die game it is their third straight elimination game if they win they tied the series at three and it goes to a do a Die game seven for both teams um I truly don’t know how this game is going to go I would love to see the monsters pull out one more win I would love to see them take this to a game seven put a little bit of fear into the Bears and uh it might rattle them again this is the first time the Bears have lost back-to-back games in regulation All Season it might rattle them I don’t think it will but I would love if it did for personal reasons and also for Monsters reasons um but that’s kind of all I’ve got for today tomorrow we’re going to talk all about Adam fanelli uh his rookie season what I expect from him next year who he should play with who he could play with uh how to avoid a sophomore slump all of those things uh we’re going to do a whole
