Sharks Name Warsofsky as Coach, Steen is Future Blues GM, Laine Wants Out, Game 3 Preview

welcome back all right news of the day video for all you find people on the internet for your Thursday June the 13th uh starting off with the sharks at the top of the board uh Ryan warski has been named the head coach for the San Jose Sharks uh if you’re a fan of the Sharks if you follow the Sharks you’d know the guy uh he’s been the assistant coach with the team and he was working with the defenseman with the penalty kills so he’s familiar with the players and with the team and I am always one that approves of basically hiring from within promoting guys from within so this is not a recycled coach this is not somebody who’s been a head coach in the National Hockey League before we’ll see how he does all the best to him of course the Sharks on the verge of uh picking up celebrini is that number one in the draft we’ll see what else they do this summer I would think he’ll have a better team uh this coming fall than what David Quinn had this past season with sose but again the off season will tell us how that’s going to go uh St Louis with an interesting announcement as well Doug arm strong uh will be staying around as team president however while he has signed a three-year extension with the team he will not stay as general manager throughout that term Alexander Steen has taken on a special advisor to the general manager basically an assistant general manager type role uh he will become the team’s general manager in two years I don’t know that I’ve seen that before I mean I’ve seen guys come in as assistants that we know are going to take over but I can’t remember ever hearing Yep this guy will be the GM in two years time uh so all the best to the blues the blues of course are going to have an interesting off season too they’ve just barely missed the playoffs this past season uh Armstrong will stay as team president when Steen takes over as Captain and yes that is the same Alexander Steen who played a bunch of games in the NHL so he’s well known by the players um I I I guess we’ll see how things go all the best to Steen uh the canes are working on a long-term extension with Jacob slaven his contract Runs Out in 2025 the canes have a bunch of contracts between this year and next year that they’re going to have to settle out uh they want to get the slaven deal done as as soon as possible so he’s eligible to officially sign a contract on July the 1st we’ll see how long it is after that uh before we see him actually get signed so tonight in the National Hockey League it is game three Florida’s up two games to nothing and I don’t have to tell anybody this is an absolute must-win for the Edmonton Oilers if they lose tonight the series is over if they win tonight Florida still has a really good chance of winning it but the Oilers need to hold serve at home uh barov is at practice with Florida and it was confirmed by Paul Maurice he’s going to play he also confirms that tereno is going to play tereno missed practice yesterday but he’s going to be in the lineup tonight and Gustaf forsling has continued the ridiculous run he had during the regular season he’s been a plus4 in these playoffs thus far uh Aaron eblad a plus 10 uh in these playoffs as well uh then you look at the Edmonton side and things are a little more well concerning if you’re an Oilers fan I would think first off the status for Vander Kane and Darnell nurse is unknown apparently there’s more concern about Evander Kane’s status than about nurse’s status but neither Kane nor nurse have had a great run during these playoffs Evander Kane’s been quiet and he’s a minus 7 in these playoffs so far uh nurse a minus 15 and one of the reasons I like plus minus in the playoffs is uh cuz you can see that disparity between one and the other and again these guys have just played three series now into their four series well Bard’s a plus 12 so well he had a rough game too he’s had a pretty good playoffs uh in terms of his plus minus and his five on five play and Matias akoma plus seven so the Oilers key tonight I think is the power play can they get it going if they can uh even if they just score a power play goal and say in the first period that could go a long way towards getting them through this funk they’ve in so far in this series and really a funk that kind of extends back into the Dallas series though they were winning those games now they’re not winning these games so we’ll see how things go tonight but uh it it definitely looks like there’s more uncertainty with the Oilers and their health status than there is with Florida the cder Cup Final is Set uh Hershey’s overtime win last night and again it was a really fun game to watch uh and they they did that without Ethan Frank who is their their top goal scorer so we’ll see if he’s back for tomorrow because that’s when the final starts so while in the NHL we had almost a full week between the Conference Finals and the final the NHL you don’t get that you get one day off and you go right back at it uh at the very least it’s it’s going to start in Hershey so Hershey doesn’t have to get on a plane at all and they’re going to be hosting Coachella Valley games three through five will be in Coachella Valley because they do the 232 playoff setup every now and then I see people saying the NHL should do a 232 the answer is no the NHL will never do a 232 they did it and didn’t like the result so I don’t think we ever see a 232 setup in the NHL again um the idea being that if you get that split in the first two games now you’ve got three at home it just it makes it so that it at least in the NHL it looked like uh it wasn’t entirely fair to the teams with home ICE advantage to start the season that three of the five games are on the road rather than at home so that’s that’s why the part of the reason the NHL went back to the 2111 setup that we still have now Pierre LeBron is reporting that Patrick L’s time in Columbus could be coming to an end um absolutely crazy to think that line a could be on his way out but apparently both he and the team feel that it’s for the best if they part ways now his contract is going to be an issue whether we can see it on cap friendly or not we still know that the that the contract’s going to be an issue uh it’s an $8.7 million cap hit for two more season Seasons so yeah it’s going to be tough to trade that line of course you know not playing a lot this past season and when he did he didn’t look like the 40 to 50 goal scorer he he really looked like he was at certain times in in Winnipeg uh he has been a very much a hot and cold scorer so if line a is out on the trade blocks uh how or on the trade market I should say then uh what’s the price going to be and how much money are they going to have to retain to actually be able to move line or will they take on a contract another team doesn’t like in order to move line a so uh let me know your thoughts in the comment section below which teams do you think would be in on line a where do you think he would want to go uh hit like And subscribe if you haven’t done so already thank you guys so much for all your support as always I will talk to you again soon

  1. Steener is easily one of my top five favorite Blues of all time. He had a hand in drafting Dvorsky, Lindstein and Stenberg. There was a reason why his nickname amongst teammates was Yoda. Hockey is his lifeblood (not to mention his All-Star father) and he has the mind to be a great GM. Love this move!!! Loading up on Swedish prospects for this organization is never a bad look either!!!

  2. LMAO. When I saw the + and – , my brain went to gambling (payout odds of whether those players will play tonight). I don't gamble, but all the gambling talk made my brain go there.

  3. As a hockey fan, i would love to see Patrick Laine stay healthy and find his offensive game again. He may be running out of chances to be a top 6 forward in the NHL.

  4. Why would any team want Laine? IMO he has been a bust. Wait for his contract year where he will actually perform well looking for another big contract. Some foolish gm will cave and give him a rediculous contract only for him to not put in the effort. Trade him to the KHL.

  5. I like that transparency from the blues. We will see if everything goes as planned but it is nice when a team is showing stability by clearly stating their upcoming plans

  6. BARKOV IS GOOD TO GO? [gasp] 😱….next someone will tell me it gets dark at night!!

Because, I mean C'MON!!!… I'm not sure anybody could have recovered from that absolutely devastating, heinous, unbelievably horrible forearm shiver that Draisaitl delivered.

Barky must have come from the planet Krypton to absorb that Kraft marshmallow hit… and what's even more amazing?… he probably won't even play with cage… that's how otherworldly tough Barky is !!!!….especially after he needed two guys to help him off the ice.
    WOW!!!…WHAT A MAN!! 👏👏

  7. Man as a jackets fan it’s a shame about Laine but I can’t blame him for wanting to leave. We seem to have trouble getting value out of big name players. Hopefully Waddell is the change we need

  8. I've always thought 2-3-2 is the dumbest format: the series HAS to go 7 for the home ice adv team to get more home games than the other team.
Whereas with 2-2-1-1-1, the HIA team always has more, or an even number of, home games regardless of how long the series goes.

  9. If there can be a third party brokering deal for retaining cap, would be a solid target for Devils to fill in top 6. Right handed shooter who can score, in their age range; and makes it easier to stomach trading Holtz for a goalie/defenseman. Also feels like a “win now” move which GM needs to do at this point to show fans they’re serious.. I know there’s a lot of other positional needs, but there are two spots left in top six until Mercer is resigned and everyone else of Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, and Meier are all Lefty shooters. Could be a younger, bigger, and possibly after salary retention, more affordable Toffoli replacement.

  10. Blackhawks can take Laine on to play with bedard. Although i would be curious to see if he could rebound with jack and the devils. With the right salary retention it is high risk but high reward.

  11. Hard to feel any type of way with the Warsofsky hiring. Just happy that it's all figured out before the draft and FA. He's a relatively young coach so hopefully that helps him relate with the young talent coming up – time will tell

  12. The Laine news makes sense to me, my only concern was whether the assistance program stuff might have made it too sensitive to move him now. It simply didn't work out, and we have plenty of young wingers to fill that spot and get that ice time to develop. I didn't see him being a part of the long-term future. Waddell is saying all the right things and making a positive first impression about building things the right way with a positive people-first approach. We need the right chemistry moving forward, and that is more important than the trade return. Best wishes to him.

  13. Warsofsky looks to be an exciting add! His AHL record is great, so hopefully that can translate to the NHL level. He's a young guy too, so perhaps he will work well with a young team like the Sharks. Hoping that 24-25 is better than this past season.

  14. If I'm a Columbus fan I'm saying, "Thank God!" Laine's been a total bust. If this team wants to ever go anywhere they have to get rid of all the dead wood, and the deadest has been Laine. If I could get a used stick bag from another team, I'd take it just to get rid of that contract. If he goes on an scores 50 goals for another team, well, he was never going to do that in Columbus. I'm thinking we'll see him in a Montreal uniform.
