Maple Leafs NEW starting goalie?

Maple Leafs NEW starting goalie?

what’s going on guys Andrew Pik hocky here back again with another video today we’re going to be talking a little bit about the goalie market for the Toronto map Leafs going into the off season CU there has been some genuine interest from one NHL goenda Maple Leaf so if you guys are new here and you’re a fan of Toronto Maple Leaf content what are you guys waiting for make sure to like this video and subsscribe join the squad I’d love to have you guys here I love making Maple Lea content for you guys and there’s going to be a ton because it’s the off season and we all know it is crazy Silly Season pretty much so I don’t want to waste any more time but again it does help when you like And subscribe so hockey news and I believe it was written by Nick Bon so shout out to him uh talked a little bit about some some goalie news here and I think James Myrtle had a lot of the information as well when it comes to what the map leavs might be interested in doing and it’s coming from uh a goalie that hasn’t really gotten a chance to play out a full season as a starting goalie and that’s lauron bah now he’s pretty good so as of Monday uh James Myrtle was talking about a potential Lauren brasis and tronto beliefs uh mutual interest so there’s not a Bonafide number one available and this is uh James Myrtle speaking but he is true there isn’t a you know a number one Bonafide number one available in free agency and I expect it’ll be extremely difficult for Brad TR living to pry either Jacob markstrom or lenaar out of Calgary and Boston to unbelievable able goenda markom is is decent but especially when teams like the devils are uh dangling a top 10 pick in return cuz we do know that the New Jersey Devils are one of the teams that are in on trying to acquire a starting goenda and Keef’s team now that leaves somebody like Lauren basis as a tandem option to split starts with Joseph wool who it should be said leaves management remains very very high on now brisis hasn’t played a ton but he has put up good numbers the past few seasons and his top priority as a 31-year-old unrestricted free agent is going to be going to a good team where he can start frequently and the map Leafs fit the bill and my understanding is there is mutual interest now that’s really interesting um going to use the word interesting a lot in this video but bris Lauren bris has been a guy that LE fans have kind of dangled the idea around of like okay like we need a goalie Joseph wool’s pretty good but again I know I have a hot take opinion on that I don’t think Joseph wall is going to play more than 30 to 40 games a year maybe 35 if we’re lucky uh because he he’s injury prone and again that’s not me hating on him that’s not Me Knocking him you know Junior Career Pro career he this guy has been hurt quite a lot and Leaf’s management shouldn’t expect Joseph wall to be the number one starting goenda again I’m not trying to be rude but that’s just the truth so far he has to prove everybody wrong but brasis he hasn’t played that many games so we’ll have to see if he is able to do it like that’s the other thing right like we’re going to talk about brisis and his numbers and everything here in a second but I’m not just going to sit here and act like brasis is going to be the Savior that’s going to help the Leafs get over the hump and play all these 40 to 50 games and everything’s going to be fine it’s a guy that the Leafs would also take another shot at much like Ilie samsonov but brisis numbers are a little bit more promising now as a 31-year-old it would be interesting to see what kind of contract he would get and the Rumor out there is like $2 to $3 million I’d say more to the $3 million side but you can see like all of his contracts have been pretty small so that 2.32 five I believe is his biggest contract that he’s received received as an average annual value uh but last year was a 1.7 5 million capit as like a prove yourself deal with the Jets now you can see his numbers like this guy has been pretty Rock Solid since the 2020 2021 season and he was with the Jets and then he went to Vegas for a little bit played really well there as well got in some time in the playoffs uh not the greatest numbers there but again comes back to Winnipeg plays in 23 games two goals against uh for his GAA goals against average and a sa percentage was again 9927 similar to the numbers with the Jets the the only outlier I would say is the sa percentage um the the year of 2122 but again like it’s not terrible stuff and you’re not looking for a guy again that’s going to start 60 games you’re hoping Joseph wall takes a step up in his development and and is healthy enough to play 30 to 40 games but you also bring in a guy like brasis who maybe will make a little bit less than IL samsonov did and then you can also resign Martin Jones as your third goalie you can run that back as a guy as like the okay maybe it’s not working out let’s give Martin Jones 10 to 15 games because you know he’s a veteran he’s he’s proven that he can at least get in those games and give the Leafs meaningful minutes but the whole point is to upgrade on Ilia samsonoff and again no disrespect to samsonoff but that last contract $3.5 million he might be looking for a little bit of a raise even though his numbers haven’t been that good so the playoffs not the best numbers regular season he started 40 games but not the best numbers that uh last year 2223 he was absolutely fantastic during the regular season but again in the playoffs wasn’t really the greatest so uh the Leafs need an upgrade on this position they have to help out this guy here Joseph wall who’s only 25 years old so again a guy that’s looking to prove himself uh but he’s definitely going to have a cheaper cap hit uh the Le will get him at a pretty decent number I’m sure but 25 games played you know he’s had pretty damn good playoff numbers in the limited amount that he’s played but he’s been really consistent even in junior hockey and leading into the regular season with the Toronto map Leaf so this is a guy that I think you can be excited about and me talking about wool I’m not trying to discredit him in anyway but he needs to prove that he can play 30 to 40 games and if you get 35 games out of Joseph wool and then another 30 out of brisis and then you just fill in the gaps with like a Martin Jones or like another guy in the Marley’s or something like that just to fill in a few games I don’t think the Leafs would be against that but the Leafs need a guy that can play 40 to 45 games and maybe bris wah can handle that maybe wool can handle it maybe they’ll battle back and forth every night to be a really good tandem that can play a full season each of them could so that would be wishful thinking each of them playing like 35 Plus games uh if the Leafs were able to acquire a guy like brall but they need to upgrade on that goalie position no matter what uh I don’t know if I’m making a video about markstrom before or after this so you guys will know if you’ve already seen the markstrom video but apparently the Leafs have interest in him as well I would like the Leafs to invest in a goalie but I don’t know if markstrom’s the guy if you can invest in brisis and then maybe bring back a veteran guy type like Martin Jones or literally Martin Jones you could run with those three and then hope that maybe at the deadline you could get a goalie if it doesn’t work out but you have to invest a little bit here in brwal he’s going to want two to three years he’s going to want a little bit more of a raise than what he was getting in Winnipeg and I think that 3 to 3.5 is probably a sweet spot number if the Leafs could get him at three that would be fantastic because again like that would be that would be less money than they were paying ilas Samson off like they were paying him 3.55 I would rather invest 3 to 3.5 in Lauren brasis and then hopefully you’re investing whatever you have um in your forward group and your blue line to help these guys cuz if the Leafs improve their blue line as well they go out there and get a top four guy they go out there and get another guy that’s like a four five and then like maybe a depth defenseman you invest that extra money there these goalies will have an easier night and that’s the goal every single night is to give these goalies enough room to be able to make saves don’t put them in high danger opportunities or situations uh and allow them to play really well so let me know what you guys think down below would you be interested in Lauren brasis if you’re new here make sure to like this video And subscribe I’d love to have you guys here and hopefully I’ll see you in the next video or stream peace

Thanks for watching!

  1. Calgary is not going to trade with Toronto .Boston not going to trade with the leafs jerseys going to want a lot. This is the best deal for the leafs right now peace

  2. Brossiot would be a failure ! Not a upgrade over samsonov another cheap back up instead of getting a good goalie ,They need to spend on defense and goalie so that means marner has to go

  3. Markstrom 34 years old with a .905 and .892 save percentage past 2 seasons. Why would anyone give up significant assets for this guy…..?

  4. Honestly, Saros is my pick. You know what you're getting with him, a workhorse goaltender who can steal you games. He's one of those goaltenders that plays better with the more shots he faces in a game. Brossoit would be a sideways move at best in comparison to Samsonov, IMO.

  5. Toronto should pick-up George for Canada's U18 squad when they get to pick (assuming he hasn't been chosen yet) and play him, an 18 year old, as their go-to starting goalie. It would be a first … but … if you keep doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results well … we all know what that means. Do something completely different and George might just fill that roll.

  6. I have no problem with what you’re saying about well that’s just you tell him the truth he know he plays good. He’s a good goalie Lee but if you’re injury prone, you can’t help the team when you need it in some guys are injury prone. He’s not a bad guy like you to speak in truthand as a guy there are reports on the team at least on YouTube here you need to speak the truth and that’s what you do and you’re 100% right about well. He’s a good goalie leave but his injury prone.

  7. No if I were the leafs I go out and get a third string goalie just in case Chris Wolfe can’t he can’t play that many games either so I’d still go out and get another guy decision security policy

  8. We Need to do this Right , We don't Need Two 1B Goalies , We Need A 1A & 1B Goalie , I'm tired of this getting average Goalies , There is A.. #1 Goalie Available , SAROS , AND WE ALSO NEED TO TRADE MARNER WE'VE DONE THE SAME THING ( RUNNING IT BACK FOR 8 YEARS AND GETTING KICKED OUT IN THE 1ST OR 2ND ROUND WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CUP 😭🙄 & GET SOME PLAYOFF WINNERS LIKE MONTOUR !!! 🎉

  9. Brossoit would be okay as the 1B if Woll can stay healthy. Maybe Jones will re-sign for 1.1M x 2 as the 3rd string goalie. Leafs need to save cap space to seriously upgrade the D core, in case Marner refuses to grow a brain and get out of town. Woll is the next Carey Price, but the problem is can he stay healthy?

  10. Andrew as a leafs fan I am very leery about the leafs going after brossiot he hasn’t proven to be a number one goaltender yet the leafs need a goalie like saros markstrom or even Gibson if they have any hopes of winning the cup so the way I look at it trade marner in a package to get markstrom Anderson 1 st or saros and a defence man or 1 st

  11. Treliving should hire Gary Roberts as a strength and conditioning coach full time so he can build all the players into rock hard working playoff type tanks that can blast through anything

  12. Leafs goaltending hasn’t been an issue. Not scoring in the playoffs has been an issue. Defensive collapses have been an issue. Get the focus on the real problems

  13. If they cheap out on goaltending again I’m gonna be pissed! Sure let’s go with a career backup and a kid who’s made of glass! Sounds like a great idea! Talk about wasting the prime years of Matty and Willy!

  14. Already 1 minute in, I love the idea of a Broissoit/Woll tandem. Spectacular. We still don't know 'exactly' what we have in Woll. Will he be a top #10 regular season starting goaltender in the league? Or is he average, or above average (think of .905-.915SV%)? Same questions apply to Broissoit. Can he maintain a plus .900SV%? If that's realistic, and likely, I would LOVE to see this happen. The cap hit would be minimal, and we have all this hope pinned on Woll who is still an RFA who we pay less than 1M$. This could be incredibly promising, I'm loving it. Unfortunately, with the absence of a JT or Marner trade, we simply don't have the cap to go out and sign a UFA for 5 or 7M$. Such is our cap predicament. So I'm loving this idea, it sounds promising! A cconsistent goaltender that can play in tandem with Woll is exactly what this team needs. A goalie we can be confident in, if Woll has hit a dark patch, or is experience injury troubles. A goalie that can hold down the fort, and I think Broissoit is capable of this. I'm sure Laurent would love the opportunity to play for a massive market to prove his worth in the center of the hockey world! Let's see where this goes.
Edit: because Woll is still so inexperienced, and because of the fact that he is unfortunately injury prone, the idea of keeping Marty Jones around is very pragmatic and reasonable. Sure, there are Marlie goalies who we could call up, but for the value Jones brings, for his experience and for his sound hockey fundamentals, I think it would be extremely smart keeping him on the roster at 700K. Just my 2 cents.. It almost NEVER hurts when you have a 3rd string goalie, especially when you make it clear to that player that he's not expected or meant to be one of the two starters.. Keep Jones!

  15. youtube contenters and team mnmnt cannot tell the truth, cus Leafs have the worst fans in pro sports, no matter what you say, you get 'he sucks', no in depth, substantive, just 'sucks', I am talking about Talbot, but ANTI-FANS will say 'sucks', and kill the deal. The starter on playoff team, at all star game, great numbers, UFA, made 1 million, = all benefits no costs. Also mentioned Petterson, anti-fan sarcasm says 'another Swede' but doesn't mean Salming, Sundin, Forsberg, Naslund, Sedins, means D Cherry mocking pick of Nylander, he wanted the 'type' like vrtnn and rtchi who are now playing in Deutsche Eishockey Liga. So to make a good team, mngmnt have hide it from anti-fans, make it a surprise.

  16. I don’t think goal should be just to upgrade on Samsonov. Solid defense core aside, great goaltending vs good goaltending is the difference between cup contenders and early round exits. Why would we essentially do the same thing we’ve done for the past 8 years, again?

  17. This goalie isn't the answer if they say they are serious about winning I'll believe it when I see who they sign.

If they are serious they will target Ullmark or Saros or make a trade for a proven #1 goalie.

Treliving has his hands full the Leafs have more holes then Swiss Cheese 🧀 they need help at every position.

    Shanascam = Titanic!
