  1. OH SHIT let’s gooo!

    Also a career minor league OPS of .920 with an approximate k rate of 20% and BB rate of 14% in about 900 PA.

  2. Hell yeah

    He’s gonna run with it and keep this spot for the foreseeable future, mark my words. And even if he doesn’t, putting him in the room with Judge, Soto, and Stanton will always help a young player develop and adapt

  3. Wow I really thought we’d be going with a Peraza call up and DJ at first

    Looks like the team is really willing to use our prospects finally, love to see it.

  4. **Ben Rice**

    * 25 years old
    * Left-handed batter
    * Plays Catcher (118 G) and First Base (55 G)
    * Drafted by the Yankees in the 12th round of the 2021 Draft (363rd overall)
    * No. 12 organizational prospect via MLB Pipeline
    * Has hit .275/.393/.532 (.925 OPS) between AA (49 G) and AAA (11 G) this year
    * Best tools: Hit and Power

  5. I’m liking this new Yankees. Not afraid to take risks and believe in their young guys.

  6. Sherman bomb to start the day! Love to see this type of aggression from the FO – exhaust internal options before exploring the trade market

  7. A good decision. Even if he doesn’t pan out right now it’s necessary to try and see what we have down there. Get out of this mindset that the very old and declining players are irreplaceable parts of the team.

  8. I hope he does well. The fan base is currently unfairly expecting him to do better than Rizzo from the get go. While that would be great, let’s remember how Holliday’s stint in the majors went. Jeter, Mantle etc all struggled at first.

  9. I’m actually shocked they did it. Love the move I just really didn’t expect it.

  10. Love this move. Give the kid a solid window of time to show his stuff. If he struggles greatly I have to imagine the Yankees send him back down and get a first baseman at the all-star break. Wishing Rice the absolute best!!

  11. Genuinely shocked they did this. So unlike them. Finally seems like the mindset of the front office has changed…

  12. Wowwww…. just a couple weeks ago this guy was a regular multiple time a week guest in my restaurant and now he gets the call of a lifetime. I’m sooo proud of him! I was talking with him in the clubhouse the day before he got called up. He always took a minute to stop and talk to me, even when he was in full gear getting ready to catch Cole’s first rehab start. He was the type of guy that asked me how to pronounce my name(it’s just Andy but spelled ande) and always addressed me by name every time he would see me. I was sad to see him go when he got the call to aaa but now i feel nothing but pride for Ben!

  13. Yankees subreddit, try not to turn on Ben Rice if he goes hitless and makes an error his first day up challenge.

  14. I’m a little concerned that his glove isn’t ready for this, but I like the confidence they have in letting Rice get his feet wet. Hope he tears it up while he’s got the opportunity

  15. Went to college with him—truly could not have happened to a nicer guy. Rooting for you Ben!
