PHNX Hockey discussing the Land Auction cancellation, with some scathing remarks for the Meruelo group

Craig isnt wrong. Anyone who keeps going around saying that AM is the quickest way we will ever have a team needs to pull their head out of the sand.
He has burned every bridge with anyone he has worked with in the state. Instead of announcing that they are willing to work with Phoenix on the land auction, they release that presser yesterday like a kid throwing a tantrum, threatening legal action against somebody that THEY NEED TO WORK WITH. Especially when, yet again, ALL OF THE FAULT LIES ON THIS OWNERSHIP GROUP FOR NOT DOING THEIR DUE DILIGENCE ON THE LAND.
Even if he is the quickest option for a team, which at this point seems unlikely, nobody in the NHL wants anything to do with him, so it would be perpetual hell until they inevitably folded a second time. An AM team will never attract top talent GMs, Coaches, or off-ice personnel after the reputation he has created for himself.
It is especially damning that reporters are now going on record saying that they think AM will intentionally hold onto the rights for the 3.5 years, even if his hopes are over, just to spite the state and the market until a time when the NHL can legally revoke his rights.
AM and his son need to fuck right off, and get out of the state.
He’s an incompetent moron. None of this surprised me. I’m starting to soften on the league pulling the plug, it looks like they know they’re dealing with an idiot and are trying to avoid litigation by giving him a reasonable timetable that they know he can’t meet. Set him up for success and failure at the same time.
The league gave Meruelo enough rope to hang himself with and by god he’s going to do it. I’m sure Bettman and the rest of the NHL knows that this ownership group wasn’t ever going to be able to get an arena built. Hopefully they tell Meruelo it’s over and he needs to be open to a sale. I get looking at him as the easy option, but the Coyotes will never be able to succeed as long as he and his idiot son are running the show.
I know Petey and Craig have both been talking about other ownership groups, and Rich Nairn floated that too. I get it, they’re connected and I’m not. But I just can’t buy into that, it feels like trying to build up false hope at this point. Meruelo is a failure and I don’t think anyone else is coming along to jump into this absolute tire fire of an arena situation. What other billionaire is watching, thinking “I’m gonna go stand up for Phoenix!”? Local and state leaders are going to have to be bothered by losing an NHL team from a major metro to a podunk little city in Utah, otherwise this circus won’t change even if another owner steps up
That was worth the time. Also watching Craig be so frustrated he just took his glasses on and off the whole time…
Was the deal with the NHL to get an expansion team to us if we have an arena made in 5yrs directly to AM?
Can ownership change, and the offer still stands?
I don’t see him selling it, can the NHL force him to sell? The BOG? Would he be better than nothing? Can the NHL offer an expansion team to a different person.. not associated with Coyotes or AM Essentially going around him? The ignorant child inside me hurts 😢.
I would like to see the zoning commission and phx expedite the process of the permit, knowing what this has been planned with their knowledge.
Thanks for reading, any/all answers help ease my mind.
It’s over, Yotes fans. AM has killed the Arizona Coyotes and we need to accept and move on. It’s painful, no doubt, but the Arizona Coyotes are not returning.
Never stay at the Sahara, spend a dime there or play there. Fuck the Meurellos with a broken stick.
We aren’t getting our team back until AM sells the rights to the team. Plain and simple. Nothing he does or say will change that.
