Over on the Flyers sub, this guy is being hyped the hell up. He’s being talked about like a generational talent. Just how good is he ? What is his ceiling? Is really a generational talent or is he simply a high end skilled prospect ? I’m really curious what folks outside of the flyers national think. Thanks

Remains to be seen…doesn’t always translate to the NHL. Flyers definitely need him to be. They also desperately need goaltending!
“5’10″”, 170lbs point per game player(KHL) nothing generational about these stats.
He will be better than average for 3 years tops.
Not generational, though probably in the next tier down given pre-draft hype.
McDavid=generational. Eichel was the big competition for him in his draft year, a guy who would have gone first overall in most other years.
Bedard isn’t McDavid level, but probably above Eichel. Michkov was the main competition for Bedard, talent-wise. The only reason he dropped as far as he did was the Russian factor and that he’d already signed a long-term contract with SKA. Michkov coming over early is for sure a coup for Philly, and he’s a serious offensive talent.
Just not “generational”
As talented as Nail Yakupov? Never.
He’s not generational he’s probably the tier right bow that
No.
LAX goal = Generational talent.
I think he’s more of a Kaprizov talent than a Ovechkin one.
Just wait until Torts staples him to bench or puts him on the 4th line because he’s not a 200ft player and fucks his confidence
It is too fucking early for this conversation.
Ask me after three years in the NHL…hyping players is like hyping stocks. Daigle, McDavid, Bedard doesn’t matter who.
He’s not considered a generational player. But he could rival Bedard’s offensive numbers as soon as next season. Which, especially at 7th overall, is exciting for us Flyers fans
No. Could be as good as Bedard, but we shall see.
He’s very good, but generational talent is Connor McDavid and Connor Bedard. There are no others in the last decade.
Generational literally means once in a generation.
Even without the Russian factor, there was no guarantee he was going second overall last year.
I think at this point he’s like a 1b generational kinda prospect just below where Steven Stamkos was where he’s just thoroughly excellent but not like absurd, expectations pretty similar to that
His predraft NHLe situation was one of the highest of the decade so far granted weak drafts after 2020 but still awesome
But yeah moreso really good not great
Generational players are not picked 7overall. Very talented yes, generational no. Mcdavid is generational.
Probably not, but could’ve done #1 if it wasnt for the KHL contract and being born the same year as 98.
Kinda hard to see him as a generational talent when he’s not even the best player in his draft class and is probably below Celebrini.
Could be Federov could be Filitov!
Probably
Guys like petr klima https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petr_Kl%C3%ADma
Existed in the past. Pure talent. So so effort. Wasn’t terrible but watching him he seemed very skilled.
He is
He’s F’n 19! Give the kid a chance! A bunch of “experts” here judging him already! No wonder Philly is a liberal shithole city!
Michy is good enough that if a long suffering fanbase goes a bit overboard on the hype train then hey no worries whatsoever
Slafkovsky? Nah. Habs need to simmer down
Also, y’know, 24 cups 🙃
I see him on the level of karil kaprizov- I don’t think they makes him a generational talent but definitely a top 6
More like top line talent, potentially franchise star.
Well there’s a reason a whole bunch of teams passed over him. They’re excited cause that’s who they got. They have to be excited.
He’s no Pavel Bure that’s for sure. Not much more than Tarasenko
I remember a time when crazy people tried to debate that the great Gilbert Brule was going to be better than Crosby. I say crazy because it had no merit at any point in time. Crosby was always painfully obviously better by a not small margin.
There are very very few generational talents. Maybe 3 currently in the nhl, but there are a lot of great players. So no
