  2. This feels like a pickup for a guy to eat some innings until starters get healthy then get DFA’d

  3. For some reason I pictured Craig Kimbrel and was very confused for a second.

  4. Don’t mind this at all since they didn’t give up any players for him. Could be a nice stopgap until guys get healthy after some time in the lab.

  5. Not overly optimistic about this, but he does actually have a pretty decent sinker and change… and it honestly looks like his cutter is just getting better over the last year or so.

TBH – *could* be an inning eater pick up… but looking at his pitching distribution… could be a somewhat legit pitching lab project just for the year to see what they can do with him.

  6. 1.211 WHIP in 71 innings in AAA this season. Could be worse!

    Welcome to the club, Dallas!

  7. Perhaps no one has fallen off a cliff harder than Keuchel has since the COVID year, during which he enjoyed probably the best (shortened) season of his career outside of his Cy Young 2015 (1.99 ERA, 3.08 FIP, 1.09 WHIP). Since then: 6.29 ERA in 50 starts, 165/108 K/BB over 260 innings. By Fangraphs’ ERA-, he is the worst pitcher in baseball since 2021 (min. 200 IP), and it’s not particular close. The gap between him and 2nd-worst (Patrick Corbin) is larger than the gap between 2nd and 15th.

  8. You just know the lab saw something in him and figured there’s nothing to lose with him. Worst thing that happens is he gets 3 games and shits the bed then they cut losses.

  9. They finally got their guy. Seems like there has always been rumors he was coming to Milwaukee.

  10. At least he goes more than five innings which will give the RP some rest so they don’t burn out the second half

  11. Look, I’m with y’all, but I’m gonna try to be optimistic here. Keuchel and Miley are nearly identical career numbers and styles, except Keuchel is 1 year younger. Look what happened to Wade in our system.

If he gives us 6 innings, 3 runs every outing he’s basically below his career average, but also the same as Freddie Peralta has been all year.

  12. Breaking, Brewers sign LH pitcher Sandy Koufax for an undisclosed amount.

  13. Does this mean Junis enters the rotation , Rodriguez sent down, and Keuchel just a 6th starter/long relief?

  14. I’ve seen other “washed up” guys come to Milwaukee and find new life in their career.
