Ryan Miller Becomes A Buffalo Sabre | 25th Anniversary Of 1999 NHL Draft

[Music] for the first time since our current draft format was established back in 1969 Boston plays host to this event we were there for the draft it was interesting decision to go because the Florida Panthers were going to draft him in the second round I didn’t know what position I might go in we got some information I might go in the second round and the day before the draft they they traded for Trevor kit so the pick was gone ended up sitting around for a while and his agent Mike Le he’ been going from table to table take this kid he’s got good pedigree you got to take him gentlemen you see heading for the podium now are from the Buffalo saber Stanley Cup finalist there’s their general manager darc regir their coach Lindy Ruff director of amateur scouting Jim Benning and player Personnel director Don loose this is an organization that many feel have the best young prospects in all of the National Hockey League actually Mike Le was down a few rows and he called me tell Ryan to get ready and I said why he says Buffalo’s going to take him with the next pick and I was like what sabes called my name in like in the fifth round and it was a cool moment wow you know I played well enough to get recognized and there there is an opportunity there it looked like he had a plan and this is just going by human nature it didn’t matter if he was the sixth pick or the first pick there was a the real pedigree of a competitor
