  1. Idk how I feel about this other than neat, that’s a good sum of money off the books

  2. Wait it’s a 2027 2nd now? That’s so much better than giving up the 2025 2nd.

15% retention isn’t great isn’t awful. Just over 700k in retention?

  3. Allvin just took a diarrhea dump on Yzerman giving up a 2nd to get rid of a top 4 dman. I was worried the market to trade cap would be fucked after that bone-headed trade

  4. Goodbye Ilya. I’ll never forget wanting to die after you missed on an open net in game 7. A true Canuck

  5. We now have $22.7M in cap space after retention. No retention would have been $23.4M. That is totally fine and still an outstanding trade.

Time to make some big moves.

  6. About 700k in retention for two years and the 2nd is in 2027. I’ll take that for 4m in cap now

  7. Wait it’s a 2027 2nd? Maybe the retain salary moved it from 2025 to a 2027 pick.

  8. Pretty wild that Chicago was willing for a 2027 2nd.

This is a tidy piece of business by Alvin 👏

Now bring home Zaddy and Guentzel!!

  9. Looks like Allvin likes to use the “downgrade a 2nd round pick to a 4th” strategy.

He already did it once before with the 1st + 2nd for Hronek + 4th trade.

  10. When was the last time we had this kind of competency in Canucks Management?

  11. That’s really a perfectly acceptable deal.

They have to land a significant scorer in UFA though. This team is all in on the next 2-3 years with these sorts of moves and they have to make it count.

  12. Is this good? I hate losing Lafferty, although he was a pending UFA.. hmmmmm

  13. By the way, anyone furiously refreshing the comments section of the Canucks IG post for Bublés spicy responses? 😂

  14. Too bad Lafferty couldn’t have continued his early season form, as he was flying for a bit.

  15. So out of Petey’s 4 most common linemates this past season, 3 of them were traded (Kuzy, Miky, Lafferty).

Let’s pray they get him that all star winger to play with next season. *cough* Guentzel. 🙏🙏

  16. Retaining $700k sucks but on the bright side we just paid ~50 draft positions for $4M in cap space. This is a big win. The Yzerplan got dick all for his arguably better contract with Walman

The Hawks are likely to still suck or be at least mid while we should be a top-10 team so the pick swap isn’t that bad

  17. I don’t like the retention. We should’ve given more assets instead of the cap space.

  18. **Vancouver**: Clears about $4 million in cap space over the next 2 seasons.

**Chicago**: Buys low on a player that scored at a 20 goal/82 pace over the last 3 years, while moving up ~60 spots in the draft.

I like this deal for both sides.
