  1. Michael Kay is such a baby and Gary’s Keith’s and Ron’s responses were all perfectly on brand for each of them lol. Gary pure class, Ron a subtle (semi) jab, and Keith just making an obvious joke. Love those guys

  2. I absolutely love Maloney. He roots like hell but he is like every Ranger fan I know, brutal with criticism when appropriate

  3. While I love Dave, I personally feel like he ruined a few Sam calls on OT winners. It’s why Sam and Joe work so well together – yeah of course Joe is freaking the fuck out when Mika scores his 5th goal to win the game, but he mutes himself so we all hear the “HE SCOAAARRSS, FIIIVVEE GOALS DO YOU BELIEVE?!?!

You get one shot at a clean recording of a historic call, and it’s kinda ruined when you hear part of a Sam line but it’s overpowered by what sounds like Howard Dean on the campaign trail.

  4. He’s right though. As a radio broadcaster, of course you’re going to be slightly home biased. But you shouldn’t be screeching at top of your lungs when “your team” wins.

He actually ruined some of Sam’s calls. Could you imagine if John Davidson did this in 94?

THEYRE ON THEIR *WAAAHOOOOOOOO* FEET AT THE GARDEN

THIS ONE WILL LAST *HEEEHEEEEEYAAAAAHHH* A LIFETIME.

  5. I think for radio calls it’s fine what Dave does. He’s a fan like us and anyone who’s tuning into the radio broadcast is more than likely a true fan. Michael has a good point to an extent though. If Dave did this on TV it would not be acceptable.

  6. Kay is 100% correct. It’s the play by play person’s job to describe the action and THEN the analyst should chime in with their reaction.

  7. I’m a mets fan so like ofc I’m going to be biased and say SNY is the best crew, but *beyond* that… if Michael Kay responded to the commercial with like a lighthearted “odd of them to run that ad on the show of the guy in the actual best booth in baseball” and just made it a goof and gaff I don’t think many people would care. it’s the spending 4 full minutes being like legitimately annoyed that was odd to me. brother, you’re the broadcaster for either the most or second most popular baseball team, no need to be that thin skinned.

  8. Michael Kay is awful. He’s the main reason I watch the Yankees with no volume

  9. Kay is the worst. His voice sucks, he is a Yankees shill and he’s their bitch, he knows absolutely nothing and all he does is talk about his tweets. I don’t watch Yankees games because he’s so fucking terrible

  10. As a Yankees fan, Michael Kay is so soft. Wish Ruocco would take over. But yea, SNY booth destroys the Yankees, and I love Paulie and Cone. But Michaels rant yesterday was so, so weird. Some people say hes the voice of the Yankees too, LOL never.

  11. Dave gives off drunk, Ranger fan uncle vibes and I’m all in on it. He’s great and can do no wrong in my mind.

  12. I dont want to be too harsh but, man, ESPN has had soooo many guys working for them who are just unlikeable people in general and Kay is definitely one of the. Most of them arent even that good at what they do. kay has been an auto channel changer for me since around 2007. Used to listen to his show, he just, he’s so arrogant, it’s so unearned and he’s not particularly knowledgable or fun.

Like a low end Colin Cowherd or Stephen A. And don’t even start on Skip. One of the most undeserving, low quality, McDonald’s of sports commentary mfers on earth

  13. I grew up with Kay and he’s as synonymous with Yankees baseball to me as John was, but he always comes off as such a prick.

  14. The criticism is valid. In a vacuum I agree with Kay, despite how obnoxious he is about it. But Maloney can get away with it because he played for the team for over a decade and you can tell he’s an enormous fan.

  15. Why does Michael Kay get to have the job/career that he does?
He’s wholly unenjoyable, unknowledgeable and unprofessional.

  16. Michael Kay got to where he is by following around the St. John’s basketball team in and snitching to the AD when they were out too late.

He’s a little weasel. I forgot what interview it was, but Chris Mullin said he’d punch Kay in the face if he ever saw him again.
