[Zach Lowe] I had a GM of a team yesterday contact me and said “We’ve never given Executive of the Year to someone on a tanking-rebuilding team. I think this might end up being the first time we end up doing it (with Sean Marks). That’s how good this trade was.”

  1. Kd and kyrie and all the BS that happened the last few years made people forget how good this man is in his job

And I fully expect yall to downvote me but I will stand on business

  2. The value of our ‘25 and ‘26 picks is sky high (they were even high before the Mikal trade). Houston honestly should not have given those away under any circumstance. So for us to get those back for the small price we got them for is truly incredible.

  3. It would only be executive of the year good if we grab the Flagg next year. Other wise it’s probably just good.

  4. How can you give a guy credit for something he was forced to do? Mikal held a gun to his head and forced his way to NY and that subsequently forced him to overpay for (2) of our picks back from Houston.

    What am I missing here?

  5. We went from praying we’d be able to land a superstar via trade to entering one of the best rebuilds in nba history.

3 years from now we could have two franchise cornerstone superstars, a clean cap table, and a fuck ton of draft capital tied to other teams.

I’d say 70% of the league would kill to be in our position right now

  6. It’s great that we have a direction and control our own destiny (as much as a team can thanks to the lottery). It will be hard to grade these trades until those picks turn into actual players, but it’s a great start.

  7. Sean marks in the last 48 hours reminded everyone especially myself who he was as a GM. This is the guy we fell in love with as a culture setter back then bc he built the team the right way and was always thinking ahead and planning. Everything that happened from the timing to now was perfectly executed. Holding onto bridges and looking for our picks outside of the 2024 draft class made more sense than trading for a weak 2024 package. Holding on and leveraging the knicks desperation to get back a haul that gives us extra flexibility down the road and potential trade assets once our core is built was a smart move as well. In the end this I think is also Sean marks dream bc coming from the spurs the Kd and kyrie experiment was the antithesis for how he wanted to build his team. Now we get a chance to see him build this the right way with a potential superstar talent whether it be a **Khaman Maluach**, ace bailey, cooper flagg etc next season and an army of picks. And as nets fans we get to finally see the establishment of a culture of homegrown built stars. No longer begging for ppl to come here or dealing with disgruntled rentals. Our own guys who we can see try and compete for a title in the next 10+ yrs
