Tom Brady Comments on Top Receivers, Matches Bengals Plan for Ja’Marr Chase

training camp is just a few weeks away and the Bengals offense should look a bit different this season how using Jamar Chase in unique ways and different ways could be the key to maximizing this Bengals offense hi again everyone and welcome into Cincinnati Bengals talk I’m James Zine of Bengal talk.com hit that subscribe button ring the bell en jooin the 44,000 plus Bengals fans that already subscribe to our Channel also make sure you check out Rivertown inquiry for your latest orange and black year maybe you’re going to an FC Cincinnati match a Reds game Riverton Inc is where you got to go and today’s video is pretty simple this Bengals offense we don’t know exactly what to expect but we do expect changes now that there’s no Tyler Boyd on this roster they decided to move on from him we we’ve talked about the differences that there could be at that wide receiver three spot could it be Mike ciki in the slot some obviously Charlie Jones they drafted Germaine Burton but I I was listening to Tom Brady or watching Tom Brady talk to Colin coward and this was last week and I I thought it was really interesting the point he made about number one wide receivers how easy it is to take them away and how it could apply to the 2024 Cincinnati Bengals let’s get to what Tom Brady said on Colin card’s show it was hard to get a perimeter receiver the ball if they decide that they want to take a perimeter receiver out of the gameover you just roll the coverage to them you play cover two you jam him at the line of scrimmage with someone over the top and it’s very very difficult to get that guy the ball but that also gives up a lot of other things and you got to be able to take advantage of those things and that number one receiver has to understand okay they’re making concerted effort to take me away therefore my other teammates have to produce when they’re playing these coverages really interesting stuff there because you you think of and obviously Brady had Randy Moss for a Time when you have a receiver like Jamar Chase he is going to command all of the attention but if this Bengals offense is going to reach its full potential two things have to happen I think I think two things have to happen one Germaine Burton Andre yavash heck Charlie Jones Trenton Irwin whoever it is Mike gaseki I’ll throw him in there they have to show that they can win outside and it won’t be all of those guys but some of those guys have to win outside and I would imagine Yoshi and Germaine Burton would be the two favorites for this Trenton irn could certainly be in the mix too maybe Irwin is the favorite he he played a lot of outside as well but you need those guys to win outside so you can comfortably move jar Chase into the slot so you can try to make it tougher for teams to double him for teams to take him away four teams to roll the coverage to him the other element here is when Jamar is commanding that attention whoever’s in the slot better win better win in man-to-man situations well T Higgins by the way has to win in those situations because you better believe Jamar is going to command a ton of attention and T’s a problem too there’s no doubt but Jamar is going to be the one that commands all of that attention and so I think about what the Bengals did they let Tyler Boyd walk they could have resigned him they did not and you bring in a Germaine Burton you drafted Charlie Jones and Andre ovos last year you need these guys Yoshi’s case I think he’s going to be an outside wide receiver he needs to be able to be consistent there and play outside give you another reliable outside wide receiver option Germaine it’s a hybrid of both you would love to be explosive in the slot and make teams really pay for rolling all of that coverage to to Jamar Chase and I think that’s that’s when when I think of this off offense and I think of going into this year how Tom discussed that they need to have the pieces in place to make teams pay for taking away Jamal and in recent years it hasn’t felt that way has it not that their offense wasn’t awesome at times last year and it was and Burrow’s injury and all those things it makes it really cloudy uh but even in 22 it it was it was a roller coaster it was up and down it was all around I I think that they’re trying to find the guys and in why over the past two years they’ve drafted Andre yavash Charlie Jones and Germaine Burt they’re trying to find the answers to the test and the guys Mike giki by the way I’ll throw him in there certainly that will make opposing defenses pay for doubling Jamar for clouding Jamar for Rolling coverage over to Jamar and that’s what they need to do you want to do that to Jamar you you want to give him all that attention that’s fine we have all these other guys that are going to and that is a huge storyline going into Camp a huge huge storyline whether it’s Mike gasi whether it’s dermaine Burton whether it’s Charlie Jones Andre Yos Trent doesn’t really matter who the what is what matters and the what needs to be all right if you’re gonna double team Jamar or you’re gonna try to take away T and double team him we have multiple guys that can just Tor you and that’s what cost them in their second AFC Championship Game appearance in January 2023 Tyler Boyd goes down and they didn’t really have another answer and even at times when Boyd was healthy over the past couple of years I I openly wonder if he was the right answer because you want to be more explosive you want to make teams pay for rotating coverage and rolling coverage to your star wide receivers specifically Jamar Chase because he’s going to be the one that commands more attention even than T and T’s a freak but jamar’s going to command the attention what does it do Tom Brady said it it opens things up you need to have these guys win so a big storyline will be how this offense looks is it is the personnel there to move Jamar around more than ever and put him in the slot make him harder to double and harder to roll coverage over two and then when he is outside and they roll coverage to him do the Bengals have the guys that make defenses pay huge huge storyline that we will be monitoring all offseason really interesting stuff good stuff there by Tom Brady I actually encourage any of you to check out that entire interview he was on with Colin uh earlier this month and who knows maybe Tom Brady’s gonna be great in the booth because he was a really good uh radio interview uh TV interview in that setting if you missed enter the jungle check it out every single Tuesday at 1. The lack of of love for Tee in this video is crazy. We've already proved that if our QB is upright with time BOTH Tee and Chase are playing at very high levels and if our other guys are tight we should be an offensive nightmare. That's the beauty of having BOTH Tee and Chase. Y'all kill me talking like Tee not here 🤦🏾

  2. Irwin, Yoshi, Jones, and Burton haven't done much to prove they are a starting caliber outside WR. Lots of maybes and what-ifs.

  3. Mike Gesicki lined up in the slot 461 times while he lined up inline just 159 times in 2019. Excluding the four snaps Gesicki played on kick returns, he lined up in the slot a whopping 66% of the time. Meanwhile, he was lined up as a ‘traditional TE’ just 23% of the time. Gesicki is a beast in slot per this article…I think Joe is gonna love his huge frame and great hands, faster than Boyd and better against The great LB's in the AFC North because his size is great the athleticism he has coupled with that…I could see him having his best season ever here in Cincy …..

  4. Boyd was never the issue… question play calling and player utilization… chase could have been used in thhe slot… don't act like TB was limited to the slot smdh…

  5. Great video. Clearly, Fox was back in control. 😅

This Bengals O, on paper, has the potential to be so explosive, and i think more than the previous two years.

  6. The Bengals will have the personnel to put new looks on the field this season. It will all be for naught if the execution is lacking. Execution is common problem with rookies and new team members. Hope the coaches can get everyone locked in this year. Who Dey!

  7. I'm so glad the Bengals tagged higgins. Vea tag or Long term deal it doesn't matter but rather not losing higgins and boyd in the same off season. People forget rather quickly losing jones and sanu in the same off season. Yeah we have burrow but receivers have always been important and are more important to winning than ever before in today's nfl. But yeah teams can try to take ja'marr away, good luck. They have been trying to do this for 2 plus years now. For most of 2021 teams didn't treat ja'marr like they did in 2022 and 2023. What brady talked about isn't nothing new. However Burton might be the new Lambo now if he can turn into the player we think he can. Having ja'marr take coverage away from him could help with that. Kids fast. Having tee back is critical too. Burton or Yosi or jones might just be the beneficiaries of having 2 really good proven pass catchers.
