So Heat adds 2 players to 2-way deals in first hour after draft: Florida guard Zyon Pullin and Arizona F Keshad Johnson. Heat executive Adam Simon said they were “two players we were surprised didn’t get drafted” and Miami felt it wouldn’t necessarily get them if they didn’t offer 2 ways

So what you’re saying is, we basically got 3 2SRPs

  1. Love it, A+ draft considering where and what the Heat’s resources were. Worst case is they get cut and find someone else for the two way spots.

  2. Is this the very first time we gave a 2 way immediately after the draft?

Usually they are camp invites and they earn a 2 way after summer league

  3. They’re both interesting. Both have the size for their roles, Keshad Johnson is 6-6 1/4 with a 6-10 1/4 wingspan, Zyon Pullin is 6-4 with 6-6 wingspan.

Johnson’s offense is his question mark; his shooting in San Diego was not good (in his third season he had 18.2 3P%), but he was good at the him and the defense was always there. The season in Arizona is the outlier, 11.5 PPG (only season in double digits) with 38.7 3P% and 71 FT%. Maybe the shooting mechanic is there.

Pullin is not athletic but seems like a guy who does the simple really well, is reliable (had 4.9 assists to 1.3 tournovers) and also a good defender. If his three-point shot translates well, he can be a nice role player.

It seems like a couple of ‘insurance/prototype picks’: Larsson for Duncan, Johnson for Caleb/Highsmith, Pullin for Wright (that guard spot has been empty for a while tbh).

  4. Idk if I’d go with Zyon over Justin Edwards top 5 recruit. However this a A++ draft, we still snagged Keshad Johnson. And if Pelle is anything like Braun or Strus I’ll love him.

  5. We just signed Isaiah Stevens out of CSU to our summer league team and he is a fantastic PG. I watch a lot of MW basketball and this kid can play.
