Who Is The “Bang The Table” Pick For The San Jose Sharks At 11?

who am I banging the table for the Sharks to pick at number 11 if he’s there you’re locked on sharks your daily podcast on the San Jose Sharks part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day welcome to a locked on sharks the premier hockey podcast covering your favorite team in the Bay Area my name is JD young caretaker at The Reef um also co-host of Western Conference Tuesdays on the lock on NH Channel want to thank you for making lockon sharks your first listen probably part of the lock onor recover your team every day if you want to be an everyday all you have to do is just follow wherever you get Podcast or you can watch this on YouTube as well and today uh it’s going to be draft day uh I am recording this Thursday but um you know Friday is draft day so the sharks having now moved up to number 11 after making a trade uh with the Buffalo Sabres where they gave up again picks 14 and 42 to move up three spots to number 11 um we’re going to assume the Sharks don’t continue to move up but we will see so I’m the players I’m banging the table for and then kind of the other guys that I would be really happy with so that I bang the table is like this is the guy this is the guy I want the Sharks to pick if he may not be there right definitely real a re real possibility that he’s not there but if he’s there at number 11 I think you have you have to do it so I did uh you know couple years ago of course William eckan was like the guy this is the guy the Sharks needs to draft um couple years yeah was it two years now um you know I did Brad Lambert that was the guy the Sharks needed to draft that was kind of it um last year we kind of knew was Will Smith beforehand and with M celebrini right we know it’s m celebrini and all the Intrigue is about the second first round pick um so I have crunched the numbers studi the studied the tape not really um consulted the you know consulted the gods um sacrificed whatever animals to said deities um and this is the guy who I am pounding the table and is Becca Sena so who is Becca Sena uh let’s hear from Hattie cacash on Becket Sena because the 2024 NHL drafts big late Riser but is he really worth a top 10 pick I’m had cakes from locked on NHL prospects ready to give you the breakdown sen is a 6 fo3 185 pound right shot right winger who played for the ashaa generals in the OHL he scored 27 goals and 41 assists for 68 points in 63 games and was a key contributor for the Generals in their lengthy OHL playoff run at the start of the Year senica’s Elite stick handling high-end playmaking and great defensive skills would only really show up at flashes but at second half of the Season saw him make these strengths a night in Night Out occurrence and he fully turned the corner from lanky teenager to full on Wizard in the playoffs in my opinion senica would be a very good option in the second half of the top 10 especially for a team looking to add a very unique forward with top six upside to their Prospect pool for senica and all things NHL draft follow And subscribe to lockon prospects on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast all right so senica of course tale of two seasons this sounds very familiar if you go back and look at Quint musy um and kind of his going into to his draft year right um second half Riser you know questions about which player are you getting the first half player or the second half player um and we all know what we’re getting out of out of quit potentially getting out of quit musty uh Becket senica I think should be the pick and there’s who knows where he goes like um there’s whisper he might go to the Ducks at number three um you know you look at a team like Utah which would make a bunch of sense there right like or who knows like I think the Kraken want kind kind of want to go defense you know maybe the devils like there’s a lot of potential slots for him but but if Becca senica is at or available for the sharks at number 11 um I am going that is the guy I think they should pick right um six foot two like like hadie mentioned um really like had a late growth spurt I think was was trying to figure out playing in a you know kind of a bigger body I think that’s why you saw the second half performance that we saw out of out of beet senica um beautiful beautiful dangles for days uh some of the best hands in the draft class great shooter great passer uh a extraordinary Puck handling you know smart player the physicality is working on it right and I think for him as he continues to get used to being a big boy now uh kind of figuring out how to play as a big boy is going to be kind of that next step and next Evolution for him uh but I think the senica that we saw at the second half of the season is something that you can project and look at as a potential top six if not potentially a first line forward for the Sharks I know the sharks are going to have a lot a lot of forwards right and mik Care said best player available I think he’s if if he is there at 11 it’s hard for me to Envision a world where he is not the best player available um on the board at that point right um and you know like I’m trying to be realistic here like we know Z boam is gonna be long gone right and lindström and maybe ainla is there but I think ainla is gonna go um Dem like all those guys like being realistic like like they’re it’s hard to Envision where they’re um gone where they’re still there at at 11 like all those guys are going to be long gone but Becca senica I think has a legitimate shot to be available at 11 and if he is I think the Sharks should take him because you’re setting up your top six for the next like long time right you could potentially roll a top six out of eckan beautiful you know we know what he can do uh creating especially for celebrini um just absolute Monster uh whatever he whatever you need celebrating to do right he can do that you need him to be a scorer he can score you need him to be a facilitator you need him to play defense whatever celebrini that’s that’s the great thing about picking celebrini is like you’re you’re just whatever you do at 11 now is just kind of feels like like the cherry on on type or on top or the icing on the cake or whatever you know metaphor uh you want to use there but senica could be you could senica playing next to celebrini both guys who again have that dog in them as the kids say um just like and he can finish and score um it gives just such balance on a potential line where he could be that that type of of player so what some of the scouts are saying about um senica all right he belongs in Western conf he belongs in the first round a lot of skill there but he’s got to put on some muscle definitely someone who is at his best with some speed in space right as we talked about he’s just kind of growing into his big boy body um so really slick really skilled hope he fills out that frame he has a chance to be really good if he doesn’t get killed trying this stuff he does in uh junior in the NHL right every player who plays in juniors they are going to try stuff and do stuff that you can do in juniors that you can’t do in NHL and that’s part of the evolution of as our good friend hadie likes to say the experimentation what can I get away with as the competition gets a little bit tougher right um and it’s easier to scale back than is to try to pull things out from these players so him been able to dangle the pants off guys right now um that’s great right and we know as he gets to the NHL he’s not going to be able to do all those things but again it’s easier to ask a guy to scale down than it is to try to pull things out and I think with his hands and just how slick he is um plus his ability his ability to create offense for other players and his ability to finish um just complement what the sharks are trying to build here and especially uh six foot two 6 fo three um and as he continues to fill out his frame um definitely risk right and what if he kind of reverts back to what he was at the beginning of the season but I’m willing to bet that we’re looking at another kind of Quint and musty type of jump with senica and so you could literally have like eckan celebrini senica you know Casper hon and or Daniel guian or whoever um Will Smith Quinton musty as like your top six there that’s that’s scary because of just how diverse everybody is and how all their skill sets complement each other and then you can just continue to attack the defensive or you can look to add because you can add players through other means you can trade for players you can sign players and free agencies so um yeah but having a core like that that’s yeah Beck at senica should be he is the guy where if he’s available at 11 that’s who I think the shark should pick so uh we’ll look at some of the defenseman and kind of the kind of two defenseman I’m gonna kind of make their case for uh between Carter yakimchuk and zanen perek and kind of where which way I think the sharks are going to lean if they’re kind of choosing between those two uh so we’ll get to that here in just one one minute passion drive and patience the formula for winning championships it’s also what keeps your ride or die alive eBay Motors is everything you need to maintain your vehicle and leveled up to Performance superchargers roofa exhaust kits LED headlights and more whether you’re into speed power or style eBay Motors has got you covered with over 122 million parts for your number one ride or die you’ll always find exactly what you’re prices you want it’s easy to make your car the MVP and bring home huge wins so keep your ride or die live at ebaymotors.com El items only exclusion Supply eBay guarantee fit only available to us customers all right um so Beck at senica that’s the guy I would pick I think though the sharks are going to go probably lean towards defense so I think there’s two realistic candidates right you look at kind of that top six guys like I said I think Silo’s gonna be gone I think Le I think Le’s going to the Blackhawks I think Silo’s gonna be long gone um whether he goes wherever he goes right um I think Z willam’s gonna be gone and I think Sam Dickinson’s gonna gone I think all those guys um if I had to pick I would say maybe Dickinson is potentially the one who could be there um but I’m trying to be real you know keep realistically here so that leaves Carter yamuk and zanen per so uh let’s get a nice little reminder of Carter yakimchuk here from our good friend hadie Carter yakimchuk can do things with a puck that no other defenseman in the 2024 NHL draft would even think of but can he translate his game to the NHL and had calash from locked on NH prospects ready to give you the breakdown yakam shs a 6′ three 205 pound right shot defenseman who played for the Calgary Hitman and the WL he scored 30 goals which is the most of any defenseman in in the WHL and added 71 points in 66 games for the Hitman he has better hands and more onpu confidence than almost any forward in this class let alone defenseman he’s more than comfortable taking on teams four on-one five onone he doesn’t care he’s got a bomb of a shot to compliment it as well he’s very very violent and he’s a decent forward skater so there’s a lot to work with here but he’ll need to fix his defensive play he’ll need to add some more composure to his game and kind of reain in the aggression a bit he’s going to need a patient approach moving forward but at the end of the day we might be talking about the second coming of Brent Burns here for more on yakimchuk and all things any child prospects follow And subscribe to lock on NHL prospects on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast the second coming of Brent Burns who did Brent Burns play for for the majority of his career that would be the San Jose Sharks um yes and does have his issues I yakam Che I think if if he pans out any it becomes basically Brent Burns 2.0 you’re going to have those moments where he does things that few people of his size and skill can do and then he’s going to have those moments where you want to pull your hair out because he potent just kind of makes a mistake right um and I think the hockey IQ is something he’s going to kind of need to continue to work on along with the the skating there but um if I live by the defenses for nerd go score points I have to die by the defenses for nerds go score points and I think Carter yakimchuk kind of fits what the sharks are looking for you know he’s he scores a bunch he scores a ton right and he had to do a lot on um this Calgary Hitman team which was not very good like he and that could have been one of those things that kind of pushed him to maybe have to be a little bit riskier etc etc um because of just this team right um but he’s hard-nosed he’s physical um he’s violent you know like he has a a tenacity and a snarl to him that my career wants right we we hear that that compete level right yakam and we’ve seen the Sharks add these typee of players of can you be skilled and can you have that compete in that sort of just you know in yourr face attitude and I think yakob Chuck does that for the Sharks uh potentially for the sharks so um like Hade said you’re gon have to be patient like you’re not he’s not gonna be one of those guys who’s like making the NHL right out of the camp and you know it’s probably going have to spend a like this is a long-term project with yakam compared especially compared to maybe like some of the other guys but but if he hits though um again having an Evan Bard Brent Burns type of player um sign me up because those guys were very good uh EV Shard is very good Brent Burns was very very good his prime uh one at Norris so if you’re getting anywhere near that that is a that’s a win at number 11 so the next guy um Zan PR also in the offenses uh uh defenses for nerds go score a bunch of points so let’s get uh a little bit more re ant or caught up on on him with our good friend hadie as well per is without a doubt the most skillful offensive defenseman in the 2024 NHL draft but can he make it work in the NHL I’m had cakes from locked on NHL prospects ready to give you the breakdown per is a 6 foot 180 pound right shot defenseman who played for the sagonos spirit in the OHL he scored 33 goals and added 63 assists for 96 points and 66 six games from the blue line he was also a key part in sagona winning the Memorial Cup just recently per offensive game would working on an NHL power play as constructed today he has a heavy rer he’s really smart he’s got amazing Vision he sees passes that no one else can see in this draft and he’s also got an out of the level of composure with the puck if he can improve his defensive game make fewer mistakes he could turn into an Adam Fox type of defenseman there’s highend upside here and that’s why he’s our top defenseman in the 2024 NHL draft for more on perek and all things NHL draft follow And subscribe to locked on NHL YouTube or wherever you podcast Zane perek um defenses for nerd go score points in super smart like outthinks players like Hade said he can play he could probably run a power play right now in the NHL great vision um potential you know just and a great shot great skater like uh Elite prospects has him as their like number one uh number one offensive defenseman uh number one four-way Mobility defenseman like his um great transition insane ceiling and you know yes he’s he’s going to have to work on defense but if you remember our good friend Brock uh uton was was very much like his defense is better than you think um but it’s going you know it definitely needs to work on it but so much is created by his offense that like you know you you kind of it gets his defense gets overshadowed by it and I I think these are the two guys who I really really think mik is probably going to have to decide between and um perek maybe has a a touch higher ceiling of the two and I think he’s a smarter player than yakimchuk but like I I think yakimchuk has a little bit more of that like grit and you know kind of in your face competitiveness I think then PR not that PR is you know PR’s a very competitive person as well um but you know and the size too it’s it’s a bit different I mean Zan pre is 6 foot 180 um yakin chuk is like three is six three like 200 pounds already so you know I think the size does lean kind of in yakam Chuck’s favor there so um if I had to guess between the two if they’re both there at 11 I would I would assume I would guess Greer does go yakam truck just because I think the that kind of fits the mold but I would be happy with either one of these guys um it would help solve a potentially solve a huge question on the Sharks blue line as you know uh you basically have Muk Mulan Luca Canon and uh now like adding one of these pieces there I think would be go a long long way uh in what the sharks are you know kind of uh trying to put together here so uh we’ll continue we’ll look at guys at 33 so I’ll have three guys here at 33 who I would be super excited if they were able to uh if they were there um and would try to draft so we’ll get to that here in just one minute I love sports I love them so much I wish they wouldn’t never stop but as the playoffs have now wound down we get fewer games and the sports aren’t Sports like I want them to but FanDuel lets me keep the sports going whenever I want all I have to do is open the app and dream up bets anytime I’m in the mood and this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so head over to fanduel.com lockon and start making the most out of your summer FanDuel official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball all right um let’s finish up quickly here with three guys so the first guy who I would like if he’s there at 33 you run you run to go draft him uh and that’s EJ Emery EJ Emy a slam dunk first round talent in the 2024 NHL draft I’m Sebastian high from locked on NHL prospects ready to give you a breakdown of his game emry is a 6’3 183 PB smooth skating right shot defenseman who played with the US national team development program last season in 61 games he scored 16 points all assists the offensive ceiling certainly a little bit limited but he is the best Rush Defender eligible in this draft class he’s able to combine his high degree of physicality excellent mobility and strong sense of timing in the defensive Zone to steal space and time away from his opponents he’s off to a strong program at the University of Minnesota next season to progress his game and with four or five years of development he could turn into a Chris T of style of NHL player if you want to learn more about Emy or other 2024 draft eligibles make sure to check us out at lockdown NHL prospects on YouTube or wherever you find your podcast so yeah EJ Emer I don’t think he’s gonna be there at 33 I think someone is going to take him beforehand but there is a chance and I know the offensive upside like he said maybe isn’t there but you’re getting maybe a I don’t want to say Mark Edward classic but you’re getting a mark Edward vasic type of player who I think is going to be just so good defensively um and if you can get that at the second round um you know it’s going to take longer development type but if he’s just so good defensively that you all you got to do is just find the right offensive partner for him and I think the Sharks will have or do have some guys who I can provide a little bit more offense but he’s good in transition he shuts the guys down defensively he’s big he’s smooth um emry is is a guy who I would again if he’s available at 33 I don’t think he’s gonna be but if he is you run run to the podium to make that pick and don’t trade the pick first thing Saturday morning so um yeah he’s he’s the first guy I’m like yes that’s it um another defenseman who I would be very very excited about uh is one Henry Muse use an underrated offensive defenseman eligible for the 2024 NHL draft class I’m Sebastian high from lock down NHL prospects ready to give you a breakdown of his game Muse is a 6 foot 185 pound right shot defenseman who skates like the wind and he played in the ol last season for the Ottawa 67s there he logged 61 points through 65 games which was especially impressive considering that aotta a system does not encourage its blue liners to activate all that much in the offensive zone he still has a decent amount of decision-making WS but he’s a fantastic skater who moves the puck well is a true distributor and quarterback in the rush and in the offensive zone and is able to leverage his passing and handling ability to create offense he could be a Neil Pon style NHL defenseman in five or six years and could be an NHL in about four to learn more about Muse and all other 2024 draft eligibles make sure to check us out at locked on NHL prospects on YouTube or wherever you find your pod yeah Muse’s guy who I’m super super excited I think he’s has a really good chance to to be there for San Jose and especially if they do go forward at at even if they don’t go forward um at 11 um I would jump all over uh Henry Muse because I think he has uh I think he’s got potential to be a really really good player um like he a really really great skater um smooth you know he performed pretty well offensively again like on a Ottawa 67s team that didn’t doesn’t really kind of put him in a best position to succeed there um you know maybe not the most physical type of player um but I I think there’s a lot to work with here on a guy who’s like six foot 185 pounds right-handed shot so um I really like like his M I like Muse [Music] um he he’s a guy who could be there um that I would be super super excited about so uh badinka another guy I didn’t pull his clip but badinka is another guy who I’d be kind of just another name that to kind of keep an eye on if he’s potentially there uh for San Jose and those are kind of like the three defenseman I would really be targeting at 33 I think uh if I to put in order most likely it’ll probably be like Muse badinka Emery most likely available there um but th those are kind of a couple guys I would really be looking forward to um if they do go defenseman at 11 there’s a Ford I would love for them to pick uh that’s Henry that’s sorry not Henry sorry excuse me that’s Teddy stga Teddy SGA has been showing up everywhere on draft boards from the mid teens to the late 60 but is he wor a first- round pick I’m had kakes from locked on NHL prospects ready to give you the breakdown Ste is a 5’10 176 pound forward who play for the US national team development program this season he scored 79 points in 61 games this past year across all competitions for the ntdp and helped them to a silver medal at the u18 worlds sga’s game is built around his high-end hockey sense and playmaking ability he’s always in the right spot he’s always supporting his teammates with his routes and he’s always creating chaos for his opponents with his movement he’s one of the purest pasts in the draft and his shot isn’t half bad either yes Ste is under siiz but at the same time his smarts his positioning and his energy make him so difficult to catch with the puck long enough to be able to throw a hit on him he’s got some Jake gensel in him and that makes him worth a top 20 pick in my opinion for STA and all things NHL draft make sure to follow And subscribe to lock on NHL prospects on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast yeah so DEA guy who knows where he goes but very much Gavin Brinley 2.0 where he’s just going to like be one of those guys that we look back and they like uh how did he go this L type of player um super smart I think he he can definitely has a motor that you can’t and just can’t deny um plays way bigger than his actual size um and I think he would fit into again what these sharks are trying to build here um he’s you know if he was like six foot two um he would probably be like a top 10 pick easily just because of the way he plays um yeah like he’s he’s ridiculously good um and I I think again kind of a complimentary piece but I think he’s one of those guys who makes life easier for his linemates um and if you put him in your middle six um and he can just kind of make life easier for your will Smiths or your Beast EDS or your David edstroms and just be a really high-end piece getting that beginning of the second round is not too bad to me so um that’s going to be it for me today so again um Becka senas is the guy I really really want um and then yakobchuk and perek are kind of the two defenseman I’m really I’m realistically circling right very much still the traded uh risk it off for Z buam camp but uh trying to temper expectations so um whoever the Sharks pick here at 11 like you’re you’re you’re comp you’re getting a great like you’re gonna feel amazing walking away draft night with maon Labrini and then you know if it’s yakimchuk or if it’s perek or senica or TJ gin or whoever like you’re you’re gonna feel pretty awesome about what the Sharks did and then you you have the first pick of round two ready to kind of rock and roll and and get going very way too early on Saturday morning um but yeah it’s it’s it’s GNA be fun so enjoy the draft uh make sure you’re follow along wherever you get uh your podcast you can watch on YouTube as well um on YouTube we will have you know I will try to post um the celebrini availability uh and whoever the Sharks pick at 11 uh we’ll try to get as many of the availabilities up as I can um so make sure you’re follow along for that follow the socials Twitter Facebook and Instagram at lockon sharks follow me on Twitter at my fry hole until Friday night after the draft bye friends [Music]

Who is the Bang The Table pick for the San Jose Sharks at pick 11? Look at some of the players who could be available and why Beckett Sennecke of the Oshawa Generals is the player that the Sharks should run to the podium if he is available. Analyze why Sennecke would help to solidify the Sharks forward group and why the upside is too good to pass up for San Jose. Next, look at Carter Yakemchuk (Calgary Hitmen) and Zayne Parekh (Sagina Spirit), why each would be worth the pick at 11, and which one feels more like a Mike Grier pick. Finally, look at three players to target at 33 in EJ Emery (USNTDP), Henry Mews (Ottawa 67s), and Teddy Stiga (USNTDP) and the merits of each player.

  1. I think Eiserman or Yakemchuk. Grabbing Eiserman, you have your potential top 6 future fanchise forwards (obviously if they all develop and everything {slim odds} goes right.
But get Yak and you potentially solidify a good fwd core and a good def core.

  2. I think Parekh is going to be a perennial Norris candidate much like Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar. I don’t think he’ll be available at 11 though.

  3. You try to move up to 6-9 to try and grab Zeev Buium (my personal top D). If you cant move up and its between Parekh > Yakemchuk at 11 for sure. Parekh has the higher ceiling with equal bust potential, Yakemchuk has several red flags the biggest being his very questionable hockey IQ. If Yakemchuk is the only the top 6 D left take a forward like Iginla/Catton/Senneke/Eiserman. Yakemchuk will not be the BPA at 11

  4. If the Sharks pick Eiserman at 11, that's trolling. Not even BPA at that spot if Grier wants to pick BPA. Assuming Sennecke is not in play and you want a forward, Catton > Eiserman. If the BPA is a Dman, you take one of Parekh or Yakemchuk at 11 (Buium, Levshuvnov, Dickenson, and Silayev may be gone by 11) and get a bluechip that can be a potential top pair D. Eiserman is nice but is what you'd swing for if we still stayed at 14

  5. Honestly I feel like Grier is not done yet. I have a feeling we get another trade in the morning or during the draft. 11 is decent, but Grier wants to get a top 10 or even top 5. I could see Ferraro, the 11th and maybe a 2nd pick for the 8th or 7th pick. I feel like Utah may also be in play to trade their pick to get a roster player this season. They have plenty of future studs already.
