  1. I mean if the consolation prize for sucking this year is a 7’2” center it seems like this is the year to suck.

  2. There’s a lot of good options for a tank (at least today) and while everyone is very high on Flagg, the best we can hope for is 14% odds.

  3. Feel like if we tank we will land in that 5-8 range and Liam McNeeley kind of fits our team, good 3 point shooting wing that plays decent defense.

  4. Just hope that we get at least a top 4 or 5 pick.

If we get rid of our vets, our only competitors for the worst record would be the wizards, nets and blazers. I expect the spurs, pistons and hornets to make some moves that will make them slightly better.

  5. As someone who got really invested in the Luka/MPJ draft only to end up with Wendell Carter, I’d recommend not setting your sights on anyone pre-lottery

  6. Top 5 guarantees a good player. So please God, Jesus, and his two brothers, please let us get a top 5!!!

  7. I am a huge Duke fan. Let’s pump the breaks on Maluach. We’ll have plenty of opportunities to see him play in the Olympics this summer
where he will be playing for South Sudan (and coached by Luol Deng!) as well as during the college basketball season. If he performs well in those settings, I’ll be the first to jump on the hype train.

However, Maluach has only been playing the game for about 5 years. He’s a lot more than just tall and long. He moves very well for a 7’2″ kid and has a decent looking handle and shot. I just worry about his very limited understanding of team defense and other concepts. If all goes well this year, he’ll have a year like Dereck Lively II did for Duke in 2022-23. Lively was limited in his role early but really came on late to help anchor Duke’s defense. Maluach is going to need to adjust to the speed of the college game and going against 23- and 24-year olds that are still in college due to the COVID-era rules allowing a 5th year of eligibility. I’m excited by his future but have a wait-and-see approach.

If not Flagg, Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper at Rutgers look very good. There are other high-level prospects in college in addition to Flagg, although Bailey might be the only one that is close to him.
