Ryan Suter is adding a Second Buyout to his Resume #minnesotawild #mnwild #nhl

up let’s Buckle [Music] in you’re locked on Wild your daily podcast on the Minnesota Wild part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what’s up what’s happening everybody Welcome in to another episode of Locked on wild we are your team every day and we thank you for making lockdown wild your first listen each and every day make sure you subscribe on YouTube and your favorite podcast platform so you don’t miss out on any new episodes through throughout the week on today’s episode of lockdown wild Isa jeromi of the soda pod joins us as we talk about some potential options if XL Energy is no longer the arena sponsor after this upcoming season whil as talk about now two-time buyout player in Ryan suder and uh a little bit of odds and ends before the NHL draft here tonight which by the way make sure you check out the live draft stream on the soda pods YouTube channel I will be uh participating in it along with Alex molleti state of hoppy spok Z Isa uh Brett Marshall uh I believe Dev is going to be involved from 10K takes there is a wide array of uh wild podcasters that will be taking part in just absolute Mayhem during the draft uh Isa I was just thinking about this the other day and we have had some like some bombshell moments uh that have happened live during the uh the drafts over the last couple of years obviously the big one that I think of is uh I think it was Logan Mayu that was was drafted by the Canadians B that was uh that was a shocker but uh that’s the best part I think about doing these and you guys do such a good job with them I’m so excited to uh to just get a chance to hang out and see the draft unfold yeah this one’s going to be fun because we’re having uh people inh housee a lot of people live in studio uh for this one so yeah it’s going to be a lot of fun Seth coming down for it um we’re gonna have a lot of guests also from around the NHL who will be calling in or you know joining us on the video feed so yeah and we notoriously go hours after the draft and hang out and continue to uh get the wobbly Pops in us either in Celebration or in uh well let’s just say to drown the drown the tears but no it’s going to be a fun one yeah it it is just fun to see the draft process play out because you you can pretty much set it to like a bingo board you’ve got the GMS that make a pick and you’re like huh you’ve got the guys who just fall way further than they should you have the players who are drafted way earlier than they should be and there’s always the one where you are like did the GM lose the first like three pages of players and uh just forget that he was on page six instead of page one um it’s going to be a lot of fun and uh I’m I’m looking forward to it we’ll have content all throughout the night um there will be some uh some videos on the lockdown wild YouTube channel that will be dropping uh courtesy of the network some stuff that they already have ready to go just needs some finishing touches depending on who the Minnesota Wild select so it’s going to be a crazy night I’m very excited for it and uh you know this is this is like the two weeks of the offseason that are just jam-packed busy and so it is fun to see everybody kind of come together to gear up for it yeah and we’ll be live 5:30 pm Central Time half an hour before the draft show begins excellent um so we’re we’re GNA lead off here today Isa by talking about something that is we’ve heard about this over the the last couple of weeks but it’s not something that could take effect until after this upcoming season and it’s not something I don’t think that really ever gets the spotlight is the this um the likelihood that XL Energy Center could see their time as name sponsor of the Arena come to an end after the uh 2024 2025 season so the arena that we have uh come to affectionately know as the X could be something new for 2025 2026 and honestly just behind the scenes it makes a ton of sense because the while they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary as a franchise and it might not be an angle that gets much discussion in that aspect but if you’re looking to kind of freshen things up a little bit there’s nothing that can do that more than a new name spot spor for your Arena well let’s be honest it’s it’s a money thing right they’ve been Excel has been paying them only $3 million for it every season according to score North so it it it’s time it’s time to upgrade and see who wants to bid for the new name yeah and there are this is we we talked about this a little bit on uh on my appearance on uh the soda pod with you there are a lot of Premier Companies that are based here in Minnesota that could be jockeying for this obviously one of the biggest it’s already got two different Arenas in the state is Target would they go for a third you’ve got Target Fields you’ve got Target Center would you go for Target Arena I just I want it to be something different because a it’s like it’s the arena is not in Minneapolis it’s it’s uniquely in St Paul yeah and i’ I’d like it to be something even quirky but but but unique to that of Target personally but again money talks and Target clearly has the money to pay them yeah yeah they do um just some others I’ve actually got a list here of the top 100 biggest companies in Minnesota ranked by number of employees uh Aon is number one with over 500,000 employees uh seens is number three I don’t know that that would necessarily that wouldn’t roll off the tongue Seaman’s Arena um but here’s I mean if it was in Seattle maybe there’s a lot of seen over there that that would uh that would probably that’d probably be a yeah Bo boom that’ probably be a better fit here are two that are intriguing to me all right number one 3M ah there’s already a 3M maruchi 3M oh ah du I we we even talked about that on Monday and I um I mean they could but I feel like since there’s already one it probably won’t go down yeah that’s that’s a great Point um I’m just looking at uh St Paul specific businesses Ecolab yeah I have eolab listed here as well Ecolab Arena um that sounds okay it again it doesn’t like that’s the thing about uh that’s the thing about like the name is it just it has to pop but the thing is like it and it’s gonna it’s gonna sound weird until we’re used to it too though right 100% like and I said this on the soda part as well uh between 1995 and 2011 the Vancouver Canucks Arena was GM Place General Motors place and when it changed to Rogers Arena Rogers Arena was so weird I was like I’m never going to call it Rogers Arena it’s always going to be GM Place dude I i’ never referred to it as GM Place like after the first year I after the first year of the changeover I’ve never referred to it as GM place again so like it especially with all the media that wild fans consume right like all these podcast soda pod locked on and radio the whole nine yards like it’s it’s going to be said the new arena is going to be said so many times that it’s just it’s going to be just ingrained in our brains after like a year and a half and I promise you guys it will um the other one that is way up on the uh the top of the leaderboard is fifth in the state and second in St Paul is ACS group so you could go ACS Arena that actually that that that rolls off the tongue that’s not too bad yeah and you oh boy you could call it you could call it the ace oh that’s good I like that I like that Mark that one down Mark that one down that’s a good one uh let’s what speaking speaking of GM Place what about General Mills you could straight up we could have a new GM uh a new GM the place that GM built there you go oh oh and that’s that even kind of is a little little bit of a play on words I like that one I like that one um we talked about the soda pod you know obviously Dairy Queen corporates out here DQ the DQ Arena that would be so good oh that’d be that’d be great um what are some other ones I had here and here’s some just big ones that like are eye rolling at first but are but straight up could and are probably in the mix in that of Great Clips Pepsi and uh and Best Buy Best Buy Arena Best Buy Arena wouldn’t be bad what about Toro Tire Toro Arena one one uh still like kind of local Cub yeah you go Cub Foods Arena um number uh number 95 on the list is the city of Alexandria oh je city of Alexandria Arena that’d be kind of funny Anytime Fitness any anytime anywhere baby um yeah this this is going to be fascinating because you know some of the others that you think of too coburns is a a pretty good one um Caribou Coffee coffee I mean they got probably just over three million to spend penter um Lando [Music] Lakes yeah there are there are some good options here you’ve got uh you’ve got Schwans oh yep get those get those Schwans ice cream bars at the ax Mayo Clinic meet me at the Mayo that see that’s that’s why like I was just going to say that healthc care that’s one that I think should be like a heavy Contender because like they they’ve got the money to spend like Sanford Sanford they actually had um one of the biggest MMA gyms um they they recently just changed from Sanford to Kil Cliffe but they they were they were Sandford jym for like five years so that could be an option they have done this before now gym is not an arena but like you still have to pay a hefty fee uh Health Partners Aline of Health um some company called the marsh that would be uh oh it’s a health it’s a health wellness and Fitness Company in minetonka the marsh at whatever Arena see that that’s where it gets tricky because you know then you have to add in the uh you have to add in the additional to it as opposed to just calling it such and such arenas so um Digi International the digi the digi I like that I guess if I had to pick one I’m gonna pick ACS group because ACS Arena I think just and calling it the ace I like that one too that for me or or or Mayo Clinic or the Mayo Mayo Mayo Clinic or see this is this is where too if you’re going a two syllable Mayo Clinic arena is not bad yeah it’s kind of structured right it’s not bad do you have any more or can I can I can I finish off with a bank yeah fire fire away with what you got there’s this uh social media site that had its name changed recently you picking up what I’m putting down here yep how about X Arena just saying just saying elon’s got that money to spend baby we just got to start tagging him and he’ll probably just like throw it at it whatever I wipe my ass with 3 to five million a month or a year for uh well probably a month too but a year for sponsorship let’s let’s let’s do it X Arena you know if you wanted to keep the X too you could go with um examiner.com based in St Paul and then you could call it the x.com there you go there you go those are two those are two now I I know X formerly known as Twitter is out of the realm of possibility but how funny would that be just the logo and everything that’d be great but like it’s and then but that’s the thing like we just got to get Elon into hockey we just got to get him out to Minnesota to see a game and and and I guarantee he’ll be in and then you’d have like the Jersey patch would just be the xload oh it’s so perfect it’s so perfect I’m telling you we might have something I’m tagging him in every single post about this name no I’m not even kidding you you’re going to see I’m going to tag him in every single post about this name change moving forward yeah until he until he just goes oh yeah like whatever it is five million a year for the sponsor done here’s a $5 bill yeah exactly we’re gonna make it happen Seth we’re gonna make it happen we’ll keep an eye on this uh because again the timetable is at the end of the 2024 2025 season but’s some Runway you’d imagine at some point this will start to pick up some steam so we wanted to get out ahead of it um before it did so the Dairy Queen no The Grill and Chill baby we’re going to grill you and we’re going to be chilling while we’re doing it ABD every time the Wilds score more than five goals every fan in attendance gets a free blizzard oh my God done done and done you just tell me where to sign I’m in uh we’re going to go from that to a guy who has added more Hardware to his name but not the kind you want as Ryan sudor is now a two-time by out player so it’s possible that he could factor into three different team salary caps for next season we’ll talk about the end of the line for the suor career as we continue today’s episode of lockdown Wilds after this today’s episode of lockdown wild is thank you for making lockdown wild your first listen each and every day reminder to check out all that the soda pod has to offer as we gear up for the NHL draft tonight live show starts at 5:30 pm you can find myself Alex molleti Brett Marshall Isa state of hoppy spoke z uh a full crew and as you mentioned and we’re not uh we’re not out to have you reveal anybody but other uh other people from other NHL teams making appearances as well which will be awesome kind of that that correspondence feel like hey here’s the pick tell us about it I love that I love that as an addin for this yeah it’s going to be a lot of fun and again if we weren’t hosting like a bunch of people and literally having a you know kind of a draft watch party as well as the the soda stream we’d probably have more correspondence so it’s something we’re going to continue to do moving forward as this is our fifth annual um draft coverage Soda Stream and it’s going to be an awesome one we have Graphics highlights of every single player uh in real time when they’re drafted so it’s uh it’s going to be super informative Z’s running the show like I said we’ll have people uh just chilling with us hanging out who will chime in as well certain parts of the show but uh no it’s going to be a lot of fun 5:30 p.m. central Time we’re starting half an hour before the broadcast lot it the worst kept secret in the NHL has officially come true breaking news as we record here on a Thursday evening Conor Bard has indeed won the CER trophy what a shock hockey Riders just don’t watch hockey dude and I’m not even being factious like I’m not even like I’m being dead serious they do not watch the sport because this is a Highway freaking robbery it actually makes me sick to be perfectly honest and again I’m I’m from Vancouver I have no I you know I cover the wild but I’m not from here so there’s no bias towards Faber it’s it’s it’s atrocious dude and it makes me sick that that no like it this is this is disgusting it comes down to the points versus the everything else um and that’s why I say these guys do not watch hockey because they would noticed everything else if they didn’t just look at Hockey DB Bard got 152 first place votes um Brock Faber got the other 42 and so it um it was decently close in votes uh fav lost by I think 300ish points as I look here but you know hey Conor Bard had more points yeah like I said they don’t watch hockey no so that’s it was it was expected because again you you have a uh you have a media base that is voting nationally that uh yeah like you said so congratulations to Brock fa on placing second Marco Rossi took sixth in the voting um that’s not bad that’s not bad yeah especially with him not being a finalist two in the top 10 it’s about that’s about all we could expect so um let’s talk about Ryan suder because it looks as though it is now going to have happened for a second time as uh reports swirling out Dallas that uh the stars are buying out Ryan Suter and now he becomes a two-time buyout player um first for the Minnesota Wilds and now for the Dallas Stars although as was was uh reported on X as well sounds like there are teams that are suitors for Ryan Suitor um services but my question is at this point what are you even getting because it’s pretty easy to point to the reason that he was bought out from the Minnesota Wild the first time yeah it wasn’t due to his play because he was like coming off of his career years in offensive production anyways in points production but like now at this stage in his career uh it it’s pretty it’s pretty obvious that the skills have declined to the point that you’re just you’re really not getting a ton and it’s a depth piece you’re getting you’re getting you’re getting a depth piece at this point and and it’s mostly like do you want to play and get your 20th season you know checked on you know in the check box because Ryan Suter has played 19 seasons in the National Hockey League he’s 39 years of age so if there if there is interest it’s G to be like a Zach pie deal right it’s going to probably be like $1 million at most right where we’re you’re going to be a depth piece and uh and just shut up and do what you’re told like you aren’t running this locked room by any means um you should just be happy to be here type of contract now I will say like for for how much of a for how much of uh let’s just say how hard he’s been to deal with in certain NHL locker rooms uh you got to give the guys his his flowers right like last year was his Worst season offensively arguably his Worst season defensively as well he’s only missed the playoffs four years out of his 19 Seasons he was him and Shea Weber when they were in Nashville as a pairing that was one of the best defensive pairings that I have ever seen in my lifetime play he obviously had career years in Minnesota and yeah in Dallas he was kind of a shadow of what he was in his Peak but you know his first two years in Dallas he was he was solid and everyone everyone rips on his defense his defensive play in Dallas it really wasn’t as bad as people think if you go into some of the fancy stats and even just look at his you know simple plus minus it’s just like where he had that good Vision where he had that great ability to find open ice and make those first or second passes that just kind of was gone was he more of a liability than he ever was in his career yes but I think it was kind of just overplayed because even the Dallas fan base just weren’t a fan of him yeah and it’s it’s more so just the fact that his speed went from I’m not really a fast guy to hey tie me to the bumper of a car and drive me around the arena um so you know this will be interesting to see because like you like you alluded to Zack perzy found the Islanders after us for a couple of seasons and then the AVS then got to the aves to uh to kind of keep his career going but I I don’t know um is a I feel I feel like if a team’s gonna take a chance on him it’s going to be a team looking to get to the postseason not a team that you would qualify as in right now see I I can I’ll I’ll say the I’ll say uh I I’m on the other end of that I I think it’s a team that has enough and are just like okay if we Face the injury bug you you’ve been there done that you can step in right now defenseman yeah am I suggesting that he’s going to be scratched a ton of games not necessarily am I am I thinking that am I saying that like his minutes are going to be diminished a absolutely right he’s going to be that extra guy and you know having said that it’s like he has to stay fresh at at his age to like continue to produce at all and I’m not even talking points I’m just like produc just results of as a defenseman so like do I think you’ll be like the regular scratch every game not necessarily but he will be that extra piece and probably leaned upon more if there’s injury now for what you said he could get an opportunity still in the top four for a team that’s going nowhere or pushing for the playoffs but I don’t think teams will want to pay him for that because obviously him and his agent are going to be like look if I’m playing in top four if I’m playing you know 15 plus minutes a night top four money I I want yeah at least like three4 million which like no one is paying him that much so like I like I said I could see a team give him like 1 million one year 1.2 at the most just to be like okay you are an experienced guy but like you aren’t running this locker room we’re telling you what to do yeah and you know play play to that role and based on how stubborn Ryan Suter is he might get those offers and just be like yeah you know what I’m done like I I I do not want to play in that role that’s what it’s gonna come goes to like Switzerland or something and actually make some money watch some team watch some team give him a multi-year deal though because what do we know what do we know about some NHL GMS is they just can’t help themselves yeah yeah I knew like he’s too American to go over to like the KHL for a year yeah um so that’s why I said like he might he he might go overseas but maybe not Russia but like he could go to like some Le like for some reason I just said Swiss because like they pay their guys are very nice especially former NHL guys but like I I could see if him not getting and it’s not even like the deal but like the role that he wants again assuming he wants to keep playing I I could see him taking the money and going playing overseas well it definitely won’t be here so we’ll see what happens with uh Mr spicy chicken pen uh from Quick Trip we’ll uh we’ll see where he uh where he finds his way to for his next spot or if Dallas Stars are the ends of the line I mean at the end of the day play playing or not playing next year he’s gonna get paid to sit on the couch exactly he or the bench he’s getting paid he’s getting paid handsomely to not play and so if the right opportunity doesn’t present itself self he’s doing fine let’s finish with just a little little bit of kind of tidying some things up odds and ends for the NHL draft which is tonight uh we’ll talk about that as we finish today’s episode of lockdown wild after this today’s episode of lockedown wild is also brought to you by FanDuel folks we are in full summer mode Major League Baseball takes Center Stage which means that that’s that’s pretty much what you’ve got for the uh the sports landscape here for this summer but that’s not a bad thing who doesn’t enjoy going to Target Field to sit in the Sun and take in a few Innings of baseball me personally I love to just bounce around at different ballparks see all the sight lines go grab some food from a couple of different spots there are plenty of ways to make major league baseball games enjoyable and the best way to make baseball games enjoyable is by heading to FanDuel because FanDuel is going to be hooking their customers up all summer long with a boost or a bonus that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so head to fanduel.com lockon and start making the most of your summer FanDuel official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball final segment of today’s episode of lockdown wild and once again we thank you for making lock down wild your first listen each and every day Seth toal joined by Isa jeromi of the soda poot here Isa just kind of tidying things up for the draft tonight because there’s been a lot of draft coverage we did a full mock simulated war room on the show yesterday mock drafts player profiles and so I just am going to ask you this what do you want to see the Minnesota Wild do in the draft tonight best player available thank you and that is easier said than D because between honestly between 8 to 17 on everybody’s like and right now I’m referring to hockey news Bob McKenzie and our boy spoky smart scouting guides basically but between eight and and and shoot I’ll even say like 18 there’s a there’s a ton of projected names there that are that are really good but if there there’s a few particular names that if they’re still on the board at 13 there there should be no doubt right and and those names in my opinion are Tia ginla uh Cole Eiserman uh mbn and you could even you could even make an argument for yakimchuk as well so those are for me anyways and look I’m far from a scout I’m I’m far from an expert you know that’s that’s z uh spokes Z that that’s his Lane but if any of those guys fall to you or or follow them which like that’s not going to happen then you know the wild you have a have a tough decision but if any of those names are still left on the board sing you got to go with them um I think this year you don’t you don’t draft for position of need because like realistically yeah like what there is some Center depth now on the Wild and there’s some guys coming up as well in the pipes defense like there’s a little bit of I would say the wild have every position kind of filled as far as their Prospect pool right now so it’s not like a it’s not like the Minnesota Wilder going into this draft you’re going like we have no top Wingers we have no centers we have no defenseman we have no goalies right where it’s like we have to load up on these it’s like no they’re they have an array of prospects covering the field right now so especially when you’re kind of in this and I I hate this position but the wild seem to be in it every single year when you’re kind of in that middle part of the draft just go with the best name available go with who you think you can develop the best who you think can make an impact quicker maybe than some of these other guys less of a project because they went with one last season let’s be perfectly honest and and and let’s and yeah and and then let’s just get rolling and you know some names for me and there’s quite a bit of names here but like this is how crazy this draft is after like the top five to six right there’s names that like could fall there’s names that could rise but pretty much like Zane perck uh cona helenius Iginla uh seneki uh Berkeley Kon Carter yakimchuk Cole Eiserman um Trevor Connelly Adam uck and uh mbn like yeah those those that’s that’s a big chunk of player Seth right who who could be available right and and those are some of the names that I’m sure the Minnesota Wild have on their board and are targeting but for me because on every draft guy that I’ve kind of you know gone through Cole Eiserman is seemingly the guy and I am totally on board with the wild going for a goal scorer rather than a defenseman that you don’t know is going to be more offensive leaning at the National Hockey League level or have to lean on the defensive side whereas like Cole Eiserman at every level that he’s played and will play he’s going to score goals so if he’s there pick him um now that’s assuming like TI isn’t on the board CU I am a little biased with the WHL guys yeah it’s it is I think all about what happens at 101 and 12 as to what the Minnesota Wild are going to do and now we got the the news late yesterday that the San Jose Sharks have traded with the Buffalo Sabers up to get pick 11 cost him a second round pick to move up three spots keep that in the back of your head um for a potential scario if the wild have somebody that they like covet that is available at 10 otherwise just just let it play out and if it’s a forward that’s there grab them but you you hit it right on the head anytime you try to draft for need and you know that’s not to say like what the wild did with yesper a couple of years ago where they traded up a couple of spots to just go get him like there comes a point where if a player that you think shouldn’t be there at that point you just you go grab the guy yeah I’d say like 20 onward fine draft for need but like in you know the top 20 like there’s so many great names and if you’re like and again I we don’t know the Wilds order but if your guy is there or your guy is like within distance like even if you think oh maybe maybe he drops a little bit maybe we can snag him no just go for them I know the wild only have one first round pick this year so it’s just like if your guys there pick them yeah I’m I’m right with you if if you if you have somebody that you’ve identified as like the guy just just grab them and don’t second guess it unless it’s somebody where you like have to page to page two or three of the prospect rankings and be like huh what what’s happening and like there’s so many good names in the top 20 as well here like Liam greenre as well like if he’s you know if some of these bigger names of some of these guys that you know we’ve identified as guys who we’d like to see on the wild are gone and Li green tree is an awesome pick as well right so yeah it’s it’s uh it’s a deep draft of like and and I’m not saying mid Talent as as any disrespect it’s just like we’ve been spoiled the last few years of like really really good drafts y right whereas like the the top 15 are guys who you know would be in the top five in in other years right whereas this year it’s like there’s the top three and then it’s kind of like another 15 that could be interchangeable right so and and and you want proof of that look at the the mid-season rankings and look at the preseason rankings there there’s been so much movement from three to the even 20 more that more than I’ve seen in shoot like the last almost 10 years it’s crazy yeah it’s BPA all day that’s I’m I’m I’m going to be I’m going to be chanting that in the background of the uh the draft stream when it gets to be the Wild’s pick BPA all day there you go um that that just doesn’t work it’s it needs a third it needs a third beat on that uh that second line but we’ll figure it out um main point BPA and uh we like what Jud bracket has done with selections over the last well since he came in so just uh just continue to further that too um hey in Jud We Trust man in Jud We Trust especially and and I’m going further back I’m going to even like in Vancouver man I I thought Cody glass was the pick okay they went with Ellas Pon proofs in the pudding worked out okay I would say yeah it was Jim Benning who picked Olio Levy over Matthew kachaka not Jud bracket I want to make that very clear ladies and gentlemen yikes yeah well we’ll see what happens and reminder uh head to the soda pods YouTube channel to uh get the live stream starting at 5:30 we’ll uh get 1. Suter SUCH A LOSER! He probably showed what type of a cancer he is in the locker room. Was he caught on a hot mic moment? Well WHO CARES? HE IS AN ABSOLUTE LOSER!!!

  2. Nothing to deal with CLIMATE HOAX PERIOD!!! If you've gone 36 thru Roseville, Wilbert Chandler Vault Co."Drive Safely…We Can Wait!" "THE VAULT"

  3. Bedard had zero responsibility to win games, all he had to do was get pucks dished to him to score. Faber loaded a Defensive nightmare on his back, carried the D and almost got them to playoffs! Absolute BS!!!
