  1. Let’s fucking goooooo. While I’m disappointed to not get Tij it was clear when they made the pick another stud would still be available. Ranked a lot higher than Tij on most expert lists, which isn’t everything ofc but I’ll take it!

  2. I wanted Iginla, Catton, and Yakemchuk in that order. So this draft is a total fail for me. But this is ok I guess.

  3. I was wondering if they were going to take Buium, but last time they took an American Defencemen still playing NCAA, well, we all know….. So they went with a Candian D instead.

  4. Hey Flames fans, he’s a ton of fun to watch. He definitely wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s super creative, although I’m not sure how well that will be allowed to continue in the NHL

With that said, Pavel Mintyukov went through Saginaw, and actually played with a Parekh a little bit before we traded him to Ottawa, and his game has translated very well for the Anaheim Ducks.

Mintyukov also played very similar to Parkeh , which is why I bring it up.

I’ll definitely be watching him once he suits up
    For the flames.

  5. Very happy with this! I know all the top picks are basically interchangeable but most mocks and scouts had him ranked higher than Tij with that means anything, or helps the pain lol

  6. Can’t complain about a D that put up 96 points this year. Defensive D are pretty easy to find these days, but D that put up points like that aren’t

  7. I’m pretty happy with this pick. Skilled right hand Dman who thinks creatively is exactly what we needed. We need to replenish our D. Defense wins championships and they take longer to develop.

  8. According to Hockey Prospecting’s model he was the 3rd highest star percentage chance in the draft. w

  9. Getting a potentially elite offensive defenceman could completely change the way the Flames play. Both Andersson and Weegar are decent offensively but are by no means elite. So if Parekh ends up being a Karlsson-esque player, then that’s a solid pick.

I really wanted a top center though but it wasn’t meant to be.

  10. Nice. Most skilled D man available. Canadian. Probably won’t be pulling a Gaudreau, Tkachuk, or Hanafin to leave for the States. Cannot teach high end skill. Can teach defense. Happy with the pick.

  11. Dougie Hmilton 2.0

    Fantastic on offense

    Surprisingly good defensively

    Overall 90% WAR

He is going to have a wonderful career

  12. Very hyped for this pick. His creativity with offense and high ceiling is the exact type of talent we need with our retool / rebuild. We have tons of other high picks to come in the next few years, we can fill out centre in those drafts.

  13. I feel like Dickinson has a better all around game, and closer to being NHL ready, but I trust Conroy so… Looking forward to seeing how he fits in, in 2- 3 years.

  14. Not the guy a lot of us wanted, but hes gonna be sick! And this team could really use a high end deffense prospect anyways lol

  15. Hate that some people are going to overshadow this selection with us not getting Tij.

Parrekh had the most points this season for all d men in his league, and set the record for most goals in the CHL for a draft eligible d man. That is INSANE stuff. Absolutely love this pick, have wanted him for months now
