NEW YORK RANGERS DRAFT AN ELITE ATHLETE: DEFENSIVE WORKHORSE EJ EMERY

Sam Constantino said at best this guy is an elite athlete the New York Rangers are a really funny team because there were already rumors and sentiments going around the hockey world at the 2024 trade deadline saying that the Rangers didn’t want to trade away this first round pick because the draft was being held at the sphere and the guy who owns the team owns the sphere and he wants to be a part of the sphere celebrations even though trading away this first round pick might have actually been helpful for a Rangers team that made the third round either way they kept the pick they’re in the sphere they made the selection they took Eric Emery or EJ Emery if you wanted to say that an absolute Workhorse of an athlete 18 years old 63 right-hand defenseman from Siri BC so he is just down the bridge from where I am and he kind of went where we thought he would go I mean his Consolidated ranking was 29th overall 31st by Elite prospects 27th by McKenzie button was a little bit higher on him at number 16 but then Kennedy on the hockey news was a lot lower he had him at 45 so he was kind of hovering around that late first early second range some people had him a Tad earlier but seeing him get taken 30th Is Right in the ballpark of where he was supposed to go Emory was playing out of the US NP this most recent season where he had 16 points in 61 games played he doesn’t really stand out with his offense but when it comes to his physicality and his skating this is where Emory really shines the guy can just go he can deliver hits he can play physically and he can play pretty all right in his own Zone too the draft scouting guide on Elite Prospect says that Emory absorbs and erases opening rushes or opposing rushes excuse me with smooth backward strides and a stable perfect posture stick in front of him extended but not overreaching he pushes opponents wide and pivots onto them knocking the puck away with a precise poke check this is just an absolute gamer of a player and he could be a top four guy if everything works out he’s got the speed to do it he’s got the hustle to do it he just kind of has to work more on his individual Puck skills and his shooting if he really wants to evolve into a true number four number three defenseman as a shutdown guy though this is an absolute gamer and I think a lot of New York Rangers fans are going to be super happy with this into the long term as long as you temper your expectations don’t go out there expecting Emory to be a 50 40 60 point defenseman expect him to get roughly let’s say 15 to 20 points a year if everything works out in a Prime season but with some Stellar defensive play and athleticism I mean he was first in the vertical jump the no arm jump and the horizontal jump at the draft combined this year and he had the fourth biggest wingspan this is a big dude and an absolutely athletic dude that the rang just picked up in the 30th overall spot let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about EJ Emory getting selected by New York I hope you enjoyed this vsh roll 99 and bye
