Cubs vs. Brewers Game Highlights (6/28/24) | MLB Highlights

here we are in Milwaukee and the Brewers are in first place and ironically the last time these two teams met here these two teams were vying for first place a lot has changed Cubs now in last place in about a month’s time we’re looking forward to this series we’ll see how it all plays out our starting pitcher is Colin raid he has been very good here at American Family field a 4-1 record in seven home starts with a 276 ear run average making career start number four against the Cubs get out of there and that one got a piece of them he rushes that lead arm of Nico but hit now by eight pitches most on the team and the pitch Runner goes and the pitch is inside two are around for Chicago so hit by a pitch now base on balls and nobody out for Cody Bellinger bouncer double play ball the toss Tanner made that time one ball and two strikes on Suzuki he’s the Cub DH striking out swinging and the inning is over T pitcher for the Cub Pi Jameson Ty on that 2.90 ER leads the team quality starts in four of his last five and as always a high percentage of first pitch strikes and a curve ball in there see you later good start for J all one away and the batter is William contras listed in the air right field Bellinger PCA will be by his side Cody makes the catch and there’s two down and now the one-1 to Yelich flyball left Center well hit playable for Crow Armstrong drifting now makes the catch and that ends the inning Colin Ray back to work Miguel Amaya leads off Cubs have had a little bit of traffic here but no hits and a swing at him as Ray picks up his second strike out the fast ball gets aaya and one away in this third inning three and two on hoer here’s Ray 3-2 a swing in a Miss he blow fast ball by him back to- back CS for Colin Ray two away here’s Michael Busch onew back door breaking ball called for a strike three and Colin Ray strikes out the side in third top half of the fourth inning in Milwaukee still looking for their first hit three base runners to hit batter in a couple of walks one down and say Suzuki now RI left field it’s fair it’s gone and that is home run SE Suzuki he likes it here he does indeed it matters apparently must be the batter eye and they just throw him hanging sliders that was a missile that got out of here no time at all one nothing it’s sounded a little like Wrigley North H lines one to left Center in the Gap base H it’s going to go all the way to the wall hap hot footing it into second with a standing double the Homer leads to another extra base hit and let’s see if Christopher Morel can keep it going inside he gets hit by the pitch and he’s hurt Morel shaking the hand in Agony right now that hit him flush oh man he’s in a lot of pain and remember he’s had hand issues specifically finger issues but it’s been middle finger right hand getting an escort to first base Neil ramp and Craig counil and they just want to spend some time with them make sure it’s okay and he’s ready to run to first base good for him that’s inspirational I think when I see a guy that competitive and and that tough Danby Swanson now one out and two are aboard on the ground through the left side that’s a base hit half around third he’s coming in RBI single Danby Swanson two nothing comes lead Brewers chasing a couple of runs two on two out and right off the end of the bat hit the glove of tyion everybody safe tyion tried to backhand it probably got it out if he just lets it Go sure he’d love to have that back now the bases are loaded R went a good chunk of the season with is one grand slam but in their last four at bats with the bases loaded three hits three grand slams this is one of the Brew’s hottest hitters right now see what tyion gives him here the onew Cheerio in the air left field it is gone they’ve done it again the Grand Slam crew Bernie hits the slide as ch IO flips the scoreboard with a four-pointer kids coming into his zone right before our eyes my goodness and the batter now is Blake Perkins breaking ball swung on and missed strike three but some damage is done and now we’ll see if Colin Ray can make it stand up and he just struck out the side for the second time tonight 91 and two are gone four and a half hour in the book two and two now man at first that’s Bellinger half weights there goes the runner half in the air right center field Perkins got a great jump and he’ll make the catch Bellinger never saw it he’s going to be doubled up and the Cubs base running continues to haunt them no team has laid more outs on the base paths than the Chicago CBS that was inexcusable 42 Brewers leate top seven and two down miles would like to hit one a mile right about now Cubs could use one of those the next pitch but it toward third that’s going to be a bunt single miles Master bony buting his way on so this puts the tying run on base at first beautiful bunt by the way safe at second is Swanson and now Nico Herer at the plate with the tying tallies on base to the right side and they’re not going to have a play at anybody and the bases are loaded just well placed starting to look a little bit like the beginning that the Brewers had a walk a bun single and now this little Chopper to first base bases all loaded up Swanson at third Master bony at second hoer at first wisdom he hits a high fly Ball Deep left Center but it is playable for Perkins near the warning track in deep left Center wisdom just missed com down to their final six outs try to get something going here oh scoring in this game taking place in the fourth two for the Cubs in the top half Brewers answer for the fourth spot in the bottom just a bit outside that’s a good cut right there that is a really good cut to yuke wow you guys are on it that man is a legend two two pitch swing in a miss and High cutter one up and one down in the Cubs portion of the eighth inning he’s having a tough time finding the strike zone in this inning did strike out Bellinger some very wild misses 3-2 pitch and that’s a called third strike inside corner heater at 95 let sure what he’s looking for this pitch clearly in the strike zone probably looking for something else back to back cage here’s he in half two two he got him K continues to impress kanig strikes out the side in the eighth and the Brewers are an out away from finishing off the Cubs here in game one of this three- game series entering the ninth inning the Brewers Bullpen with over 16 consecutive scoreless Innings and that one’s on the ground Mel does it again the Brewers win they beat the Cubs in the opener of this three-game set Miguel stays Rock Solid in that closer roll and the 20-year-old Cheerio with his first ever big Le Grand Slam and the Brewers are shaking hands once again

  1. It's always nice to see all the cubs fans who drove to Milwaukee to see the cubs cause it's easier than in Chicago go home madπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  2. These kids….20 year olds, 22, 23, year olds have reinvigorated this team! Amazing defense, and the last 4 games 3 Grand Slams and 1 Inside the Park Homerun! Stealing bases, creating runs. And with a makeshift pitching staff they keep on winning. If this guy doesn't get manager of the year something is wrong!

  3. Before the season began, when Counsell left for "Bluer pastures", Cubs fans were really excited and they were really bashing the Brewers. I wonder now what Craig Counsell is thinking? He left this team, a team that I even thought was making some foolish moves. Trading a Cy-Young winning pitcher and during a pennant year dumping off one of the best closers in baseball. I was very critical of this team and I thought that Counsell's move was because he was sick of the owner not paying for decent players. Well having seen what we got in return for Corbin Burnes, I will admit that I was WRONG! Joey Ortiz has been phenomenal! DL Hall has a decent shot, when healthy that is. Same with the pitcher we got in the Hader trade. I'd love to πŸ‘‚hearπŸ‘‚ Counsell's thoughts on going to a team he figured was a 1st place team and leaving what he figured was a weaker team. Now at the half-way mark of the season, the Brewers are in 1st place, and Counsell's Cubs are in last place? Milwaukee fans used to love Counsell, nowadays they have a different feeling for him, and Cubs fans, who praised him coming to their team are calling for his head? Whoops. The Brewers traded top players, but they got some really great, exciting, and extremely talented younger players in return. Again I was wrong, very wrong about my thoughts about losing Hader and Burnes. Their attitudes weren't helping this team the last couple of years, and now these young players have injected excitement, energy, and fun back into this team. This team has a core group of young players who are unbelievably talented, in all aspects of the game. Hitting, baserunning, and fielding. If this team can get a somewhat healthy pitching staff, and stay healthy, they could become a very special team, as well as being a very dangerous team.

  4. Props to Colin Rea. He has been fantastic this year. The Brewers who have needed to use 15 different Starting Pitchers due to injuries, Colin Rea has really been a huge part of them staying on top. Not to mention the crazy defensive plays that Blake Perkins, Jackson Chourio, and the rest of the team has made. This team has so many different talented players. Seeing these rookies come into their own has been really special to see. They've invigorated the veteran players too. Christian Yelich's batting average has gotten back to and surpassed the .300 mark. His speed is still there as well with over 15 SB's this year. Actually the Brewers speed has been another essential factor. B.Turang, J.Chourio, S.Frelick, B.Perkins, and Wily Adames all have at least 10 stolen bases. This team is winning because of their desire and their NO-QUIT attitude. That and as I mentioned before, this team's talents cover every part of the field/game. Hitting, fielding, baserunning, decision-making, and pitching. Counsell-out chose to leave, jump ship, go to a team with deeper pockets. Well Counsell has quickly learned, the Grass isn't always greener with a "larger" market team.

  5. BEST MOVE EVER. COUNSELL LEAVES BECAUSE HE THINKS HE IS SO GREAT.
