Nikishin on podcast

Nikishin recently appeared on Russian hockey podcast, here is a few takes about NHL and Canes in general:

-Wanna test himself in NHL soon;
-Doesn’t see a lot of messages from Canes fans on his socials (he thinks it’s because of his draft number unlike Michkov and Podkolzin back in the days);
-Never speaked with Svech (yet), wanna talk with him, but too shy to start conversation (“What if I will call him and will distract him”), but spoke with Voronkov a lot about his transition from one league to another;
-Was caught of guard by GMDW call once, never seen him before, said “I don’t speak english” and ended phone call;
-Watched almost every Canes game last season (because of Orlov addition and a lot of Russians on team);
-Big fan of Orlov and Erik Karlsson;
-Doesn’t think he is ready to play at NHL level yet (because it’s more intense than KHL);

Also, I’ve seen videos with Orlov and Kochetkov talking to Russian media about last season, if I have some free time might do the same thing as well.

  1. Thanks for the bullet points!

    Interesting he says he wants to test himself in the NHL soon, but still says he doesn’t think he’s NHL ready. Might just be fluff to not piss off the SKA folks by saying he’s ready to leave

  2. Okay, who is helping with operation “smuggle-Nikishin-out-of-Russa!”

    Just kidding, but it sure would be nice if Tom could figure out how to buy out his SKA contract.
