OILERS OFFICIALLY BUYING OUT JACK CAMPBELL, BLUE JACKETS BUYOUT ADAM BOQVIST + JETS NATE SCHMIDT

[Music] can we get a GG in the chat man that’s it it’s over it’s done the soup experiment in Edmonton is coming to an end no more alphagetti no more SpaghettiOs no more borch and no more cream of mushroom because soup is out the door baby Jack cample has been placed on unconditional waivers by the Edmonton Oilers for the purpose of a buyout that’s it that’s it this is Jack kle the $5 million goal tender that was signed as a free agent after his Glory Days with the Toronto mapel Leafs who did not live up to a single Dollar on that contract in Edmonton 5 million a piece till the end of 2026 20 27 that was the deal and unfortunately for Jack Campell he did not post up any significant numbers with Edmonton in the two seasons he had played with the team okay he was okay in the 2022 2023 playoff sample that he had 961 safe percentage in four games but then again you got to remember those four games that he played they were all in relief they were coming off of games where they were going to lose he only had a one and0 record because he didn’t play most of the games to start out and for Jack Campell in his Edmonton Oilers season this year 873 save percentage four50 goals against five games played he was absolute dogwater with the Oilers to start out 2324 getting lit up against the Vancouver Canucks and never Looking Back Jack cample then got sent down to the AHL had an 918 save percentage which is good 263 goals of gains too but then again he’s a $5 million caliber goalie you need that guy to be able to produce those kinds of numbers in the NHL not in the American Hockey League as a result he lost his starter job he lost the temporary backup job that he had it was Skinner and picker Skinner and picker and even in the playoffs it was Skinner and picker the Oilers went all the way to game seven of the Stanley Cup finals and you can say that they did not need anything from drack cample to get that done so the contract is being bought out and if you go over to Puck Pia’s Twitter page they have the breakdown right here shout out to Puck pedia by the way not cap friendly which is still up and running right now as of today but it’ll probably be taken down sometime in the next few days but puckpedia tweeted this out cample will only have a cap hit of $1.1 million in the 2425 season which gives the Oilers $3.9 million in Savings in year two campell’s cap hit is 2.3 million so the Oilers will have a $2.7 million in savings and in year three campell’s aav and cap hit will only be 2.6 mil so the Oilers are saving 2.4 million now in years 4 5 and6 which will be 2027 up until 2030 the Oilers will have a cap hit a cap cost a cap penalty of $1 1.5 million a year so cample went from having a contract that expires with the Oilers in 2027 to a cap hit that will be on the Oilers books until 2030 the extra 3 years you can say what you want about that but we’ll worry about that another day it’s 2024 right now let’s comment either way this is a move that you could say was only necessary this is the right way to build your hockey team because long story short this guy was not giving you any favors he really wasn’t Jack cample completely fell off and was never good enough to regain any sort of Faith within the Oilers management and coaching staff of course he was a part of the Oilers team when they went to the stanle finals he was the third goalie pretty much the emergency backup but the last game that Jack cample played as a member of the Edmonton Oilers was an 853 save percentage game on November 4th 2023 before that he had an 806 save percentage Against the Wild an 875 save percentage against the Flyers a 977 against Nashville one goal against on 44 shots so that was the only good game he had in the NHL this season and then he got lit up against Vancouver a 75 50 16 shots against and four goals against so the Oilers kind of already saw the beginning of the end with that Jack Campell of course we hope he gets back on his feet we hope that the next contract he gets is not a $5 million aav contract then it’s actually worth it for whichever team is giving it to him he was fantastic with the Leafs a few years ago but like a lot of other Toronto Stars he just was not able to get the money that he needed to stick around over there and it’s why the Oilers went out there and overpaid to get him we are already said it was a bad deal when it was signed but now it’s getting bought out so quickly to add on to this video though because we are talking about buyouts I wanted to talk about the other buyout that is happening today yeah that’s right we have a second buyout take a look at this tweet made by Aaron Portland on Twitter talks about Adam boquist I am told that the Blue Jackets will place boquist on waivers later today if he clears the Blue Jackets will buy out the final year of his contract a buy out would cost the Blue Jackets $33,000 in each of the next two seasons and save them 2.1 mil boquist was due to making $3.2 million this upcoming season now the thing is when it comes to Columbus Blue Jackets eighth overall pick Adam boquist I would not be surprised if this guy gets straight up claimed and they don’t need to buy him out this was a super talented Prospect back in the 20178 season and he went one pick after Quinn Hughes if you remember the videos that we were making about the draft in the 2018 season I was actually saying you know if it were up to me and I had to guess not who I would have picked I would have picked Hughes he was my like third or fourth overall guy but if I had to guess whom the Canucks would take I actually thought they would go boquist that was a really big deal back in 20178 and the why I want videos from that time frame go out there and exploit that but I mean look Adam Bist just has not unfortunately been the guy that he’s needed to be for Columbus and with David Urich right up in there he’s got himself an opportunity to be a dude right away on that right side they needed to open a spot up and unfortunately it comes at the cost of Adam boquist who will be going to his third NHL team he was drafted by Chicago in 2018 and at this point you have to start wondering okay where is the long-term fit going to be for this player Adam boquist was always a talented right-handed defenseman with mobility and a shot that was really good in his draft eligible season but he was never able to put it all together in the ways that we thought he would so this of course isn’t the ideal situation for Columbus but because he is that good and because he has that profile behind him I wouldn’t be surprised if boquist just got straight up claimed now look oh my goodness as we are recording this video we have yet another buyout that was announced here here on social media take a look at this Frank s saying if unclaimed it is a Nate Schmid buyout that would be put into place here he’s on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout s says that Schmidt his buyout would result in a $2.7 million cap charge next season and a $1.6 million cap charge in 2025 2026 which means that the Winnipeg Jets want to save some D on Schmitty Nate Schmidt on his current contract was making $5.9 million a year till the end of this upcoming 2425 season and the contract it was just a bit too beefy even though it’s only one year long it’s why the Winnipeg Jets are capable of buying it out and saying hey we want the savings for this year and the penalty for next year isn’t the worst thing in the world $1.6 million is the charge for 2025 2026 and that is a lot more stomachal than $5.9 million a year right now unfortunately schmidti just was not as good as he needed to be in Winnipeg 1463 games played he had a 32 point season with Winnipeg in 2021 2022 but did not replicate that anywhere near in future Seasons so Nate Schmidt is getting bought out too extra information that is getting added on at the very end of the video there was already some buzz from a lot of jets fans as to whether or not a buyout for Schmid could actually happen I know my buddy Canadian zombie the Winnipeg Jets YouTuber was talking at length about the idea of a Schmid buyout for the past few weeks here so it doesn’t really surprise me per se but that’s just because I’ve been kind of looking at the tea leaves and seeing what a lot of jets fans are saying so if you’re a fan of any of these three teams Edmonton Columbus or Winnipeg let me know your thoughts in the comments section below how do you feel about Jack cample boquist and Schmidt all being placed on waivers for the purposes of a buyout thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this v as and bye [Music] [Music]
