now Steve Avery former Brave is going to say play ball here Braves country let’s play ball it’s a little brunch and baseball for you here on a Sunday Spencer swell and boxes his sixth Big League start made his debut at the end of May yeah this is a guy that I circled coming into this series excited to watch him pitch uh he’s got five pitches really six pitches when you break up the Sinker and the four seamer as a two different fast balls and the thing that’s interesting is coming into this year he’s changed just grips on a couple of his off speed pitches so you have a young pitcher in Spencer schwellenbach making his six Big League start now he opposes the veteran Andrew McCutchen a swelling b gets him and quickly there is one away little downward action like you would expect to see with the split Brian Reynolds he has found himself a 25g game hit streak that is the longest hit streak in baseball this season but what a start for schwellenbach he gets McCutchen and now Reynolds swinging see schwellenbach using the full arsenal again he goes back to that split here he does doesn’t have to use the bat he’ll have a two- out walk this hit hard but Orlando Aria knocks it down now he’ll throw over but it won’t get there in time that ball was scorched off the bat of olivaris 104 mph yeah Edward got that one pretty good after two strikeouts now two on and here’s a power hitter from the left side and Rowdy to Les but it looks like he will get out of it oie alz has that couple of base runners nothing else and the Braves coming up in the bottom half Bailey F to the 27-year-old Lefty who when he pitched against the Braves in Pittsburgh May 24th Matt he had a lot of success yeah bayy falter hasn’t gotten the attention that some of the other guys in this Pirates rotation Keller skem and Jones in particular has gotten but he’s been a big part of this rotation and falter is able to get Kellick maybe that sailed up high a little and Kellick went unable to chase it and there’s one away weak lead to short Cruz has that strong arm and he showcases it right there firing a bullet and now Marcelo Zuna first pit he sees he hits deep to left Center and it’s off the base of the wall Ozuna heading for second a belly flop in there for a two out double and that is snit bear who has become Marcelo zuna’s best friend they call Marcel Ozuna Big Bear snip bear looking on with a smile after this hit that a little low of the zone so a double for Ozuna a walk by Matt Olen now Austin Riley Riley sends this to right onars will have the charge and does get there so each team stranding two in the first the Braves I think more so than than a lot of other organizations guys come up from the minor leagues and they fit right in right away Orlando RS fantastic play but it will go as a single for Nick Gonzalez to start the second seventh pitch of the abbat is a good one inside corner a swing in the Miss by Trio two away there’s that Sinker Orlando Ria Gobles this up and will take care of s wski and that will send us to the bottom of the second inning pleased to be joined Now by Rowdy tles first baseman of the Pittsburgh Pirates I am the old guy on this field right now well how do you Embrace that do you enjoy that that uh leadership role is that something you look forward to coming to the ballpark um yeah you know like being able to help the Next Generation help the future of an organization big uh but I think what I look at it as is um it’s kind of humbling you know to say that uh you’re a veteran say that you’re an older player I think that says something about um you as a teammate trying to be the best defender I can be and um you know be the best teammate I can be and whenever they had questions about what’s going on with them too being there to help so you know I think there’s more facets on a on a winning team or just a team that’s trying to make the playoffs than having a bunch of good players you got to have some good Clubhouse guys all right well you’ve got a special fan that we know Xander that is a pretty special relationship you’ve developed with that fan there in Pittsburgh is it not you know it’s special bring a smile to my face too it keeps me calm and um you know another thing like we’re just regular people that are fortunate enough to play a game for a living and be blessed with this so um you know I just want to make sure that they uh the fans understand that um you know I just like to interact with with people and you know he he has always been a good kid and always made me laugh and smile and makes it easier being away from your family for all this time but you know uh I made a lot of um connections kind of everywhere I’ve gone I have a another kid named EMT um who was there for my debut and who was actually watching me play in the minor leagues and I think he’s like 10 or 11 now and it’s uh pretty crazy to watch him when I first met him he was like four yeah that’s pretty cool man that’s what it’s all about and appreciate that you see both sides of that you know I know quite a few people watching probably know how you got the name Rowdy but your actual name is Ryan and I want you to share with those who don’t know how you got that name yeah my uh my parents didn’t want to know what I was at Birth um so uh my grandma called me baby Rowdy and uh it kind of stuck so I actually had my nickname before I had my real name but I’ve never gone by my real name so um always gone by Rowdy he skip tripa a came straight up after a quick stop and double A so just not a lot of time in the miners but seems to be handling all this very well and the Tommy John just very little time in the miners but looking really good right now and he got a quick one two three top of the thir third the 6-4 Lefty is pitching pretty well right now four strikeouts the first time through the order and now back to the top and Kellick Kellick out to left Center swinsky charging what a diving grab by Jack swinski taken one away from Jared K yeah no kidding great jump from Jack right there had a good read off the bat you see kind of gauge the baseball and then start moving immediately leaves his feet here Brian what Reynolds nice nice job backing him up there in case it did get by him pitchers always love that yeah that humidity does hit different than California that’s for sure Nick Gonzalez had a single back in the second now the right field line here that is going to stay fair and be trouble Duval gets it back in quickly but not quick enough and Gonzalez two for two Duval played that perfectly barehanded it off the wall but Nick Gonzalez nice job of getting out of the box he’s thinking double the whole way maybe even triple if that thing bounces around down there Nick’s having a nice little Resurgence but we had him talking about this travel baseball circuit here in Atlanta we had him at East cob had the opportunity to coach him a little bit be around him get to KN him Ria bobbled it almost though was able to get Gonzalez napping over there third but everybody is safe that Gonzalez almost stepped away they have the fewest airs in Major League Baseball but that one keeps the inning going so an opportunity now for Olo swb four strikeouts so far he would love a fifth and he’s going to get a fifth right in there he throws Jared triolo but you saw nobody else active has more than a 180 game streak of games played consecutively M over 500 at 540 left center field that’s going to drop Ozuna will head for third Olen with a single and the Braves have something cooking here in the fourth inning a chance for Austin Riley grounded to Third that will get the run home and the Pirates will take the double play as a trade one to nothing Atlanta they’ll trade two outs right there for one run you got to score to win anyway all right you’ve got the ball there let’s see the demonstration on which pitch all of them go through them all let’s see them all right so here’s the fast ball I don’t know how zoomed in you guys are but there’s the fast ball now you’re good do it exactly how you are used to be like this um so little little sub subtle adjustment there um um there’s the Sinker slider curveball there and then we got the the change up let’s go that ball is crushed and I mean absolutely crushed off the bat of O’Neal Cruz my goodness he hammered that and Pittsburgh now has a two to one lead here in the fifth well we talked about it in the pregame O’Neal Cruz when he wants to impact a baseball game he can do it in a lot of different ways and that is certainly one of them 11 17.3 mph off the bat this guy’s as strong as anybody leads baseball and swing speed when he gets a barrel of the bat the baseball off the barrel of the bat it’s fun to watch definitely a nice thing he’s on our team um enjoy it for one uh if that thing stays Fair it’s another two-run blast and it is fair boy Cruz crushed one and now tles demolishes a baseball and it’s 4 to one pirates Paul what are you do on the top of the six we’re going to have you back on yeah keep me on forever this is amazing R tles our former guest on here 109 off the bat wow yeah something about putting the headset on that’s how you do it right there just lay back you need to watch the game though son little Flair Riley back he’s got it oh wow what a great play from Austin Riley right there boy we’ve talked a lot this year about his defense it continues to get better Brian Reynolds who again is riding that 25 game hit streak now to put that into perspective folks the last 10 seasons Reynolds is just the 12th player in baseball to have a hit streak that long you know CJ and I were teammates too at one point he mentioned that to me one out here’s Murphy that ball is fair inside the line Murphy will head for second but he kind of trips so he Sprints back to First and the runners will be at the corners here with one out and the Braves have Runners at the Corners here as they try to claw back into this thing Orlando Aria is the batter two on two two pitch and Aria expanded The Zone wi after the slider he is frustrated slamming his bat down that’s a big second out hitters are going to have to Gear Up can’t lay off that slider down and Away grounder to Cruz he’ll go the short route and the Braves leave the runnner stranded at the corners today it’s the pirates with a 4-1 lead Duval grounder diving stop and and triolo cannot get enough mustard on the throw Murphy hits this well down the left field Line This Time dual will head to third Murphy chugging into second and he gets in there Braves trying to make some noise in the nin so two in scoring position here’s Orlando Aria AR out to left Center diving catch Michael a tner just came into the game and the first ball he sees he saves a potential two RBI hit the Braves do score one so it’s 4 to2 well that’s the second time in this ball game the center fielder for the Pirates the first time Jack snsk swinsky this time Michael a Taylor saving extra bases with a beautiful head first slide there so now Zack short will pinch hit here final hope for Atlanta grounded to third this might do it triolo across and the Pirates Salvage the series with a 4-2 win over the Atlanta brav disappointing to see Brian Reynolds snap his streak hitting streak there but nice to see a little bit of offense it all came in the fifth inning the two homers from Rody TZ and O’Neal Cruz
