  1. TIL Don was outright fired rather than simply leaving on his own accord to come to San Diego.

  2. I’m glad to see that the comments on the RedSox sub are also supportive of Don. The Red Sox got rid of Don Orsillo, Mookie Betts, and Xander Boegaerts in a relatively short span. And you can say what you want about Xander’s time so far in San Diego, but he was an all time Sox player when he left. Makes you really appreciate what we had in Peter Siedler, and hopefully will continue to have in his image.

  3. I can’t imagine being so inept or out of touch that you’d have someone like Don Orsillo under contract and let him walk away.

Unceremoniously *firing him* in the middle of his contract, when he loved the team and the job, and he wanted to stay? That is just absurd.

As much as I couldn’t stomach an alternate reality where we don’t get to enjoy Don as the voice of the Padres through their rise and recent success, I can’t help but feel for all of the Red Sox fans who had that ripped away from them.

  4. Don’s a real ride or die, Boston chose die. Glad Face is on our team now. RIP Remy

    > The firing of Orsillo alienated the fan base and backfired into one of the worst PR mistakes the Red Sox have made in recent history. Sadly, **the Red Sox chose not to honor or spotlight Orsillo in his return to Fenway this weekend**, despite his long association to the franchise and his role as the play-by-play voice of three World Series championship teams.

  6. His reaction is a normal one, I wouldn’t call it a Massive Shot at The Red Sox just a human one. But maybe thats just me

  7. I’ve read the excerpt a few times and don’t see any potshots. That actually seems like a very measured response about the organization that fired him.

  8. Thank you red sox ownership! Gave us one of the greatest voices in the sport

  9. Don is ours now. Been in Boston enough times to know that they don’t know what they want, they just want it now. Jerry Coleman has handed the riegns to Don Orsillo as the next great Padre play by guy, and I am glad I am here for it.

  10. Imagine firing Don Orsillo from calling your baseball games…Boston’s loss is San Diego’s win

  11. How I feel about that nameless, classless, ringless, fanless, former San Diego NFL team currently being ignored up the 5, in the nation’s 2nd largest media market.

  12. The face of the San Diego padres. The bronze face….biiiiiiiig donatangelo fan here

  13. Him and Remy were the best together. I wasn’t even a sox fan but I loved listening to them.
