Cayden Lindstrom Post NHL Draft Media Availability | Columbus Blue Jackets
hey so you were expecting Columbus I didn’t uh to be honest I didn’t know what I was expecting uh I was just sitting there with my with my family and just kind of waiting to see what happen so yeah so when when you heard it was them what were your first thoughts I was excited I mean uh all my meetings went well with them uh they they all they all they’re all really good people I train with some of the guys on on the Blue Jackets and and yeah it seems like they got they got a lot of things uh things happening so uh I’m I’m so happy to be a CL with blue jacket and yeah what was it like to be able to share that moment with your mom after all she’s done to support your career it was it was amazing uh just everything she’s done for me up until this point um I try to hug her as long as I can her and my grandma uh she’s uh it’s pretty emotional for sure um yeah she’s uh she’s a Superhero really uh yeah can you tell us about some of the stuff she’s done for you to help support your career for sure she’s uh well obviously I left at a really young age uh home and she didn’t like that very well obviously but uh yeah just uh driving like 14 hours of Vancouver like every summer a couple times a summer just to play a little tournament in Vancouver you have to take time off work get a babysit get a babysitter for my sisters and kind of just yeah just little things like that and big yeah so what do you offer Columbus what what skill set are you going to bring to the Blue Deck yeah I’m going to bring I’m going to bring a winning mindset I’m going to bring a lot of speed and power uh skill a lot of lot of good offensive touch and and physicality as well K who do you uh who do you train with on yeah so there’s uh Christenson out there and then there’s Ken Johnson too yeah yeah so what do you think about those guys jez my first game with them I was like whoa like they’re uh obviously they’re skilled and they’re uh they’re great they’re great guys as well but yeah they’re yeah it’s good KJ isn’t trying to recruit you to the ball hockey team not yet not yet no maybe in theut maybe we’ll see how many siblings do you have I have H three younger sisters you do so you’re the oldest I’m the oldest wow awesome so whole families here no my sisters are a little too young to come still but uh yeah I got my uh my mom my grandma my girlfriend’s here I got aunties and cousins and then some of my billets from uh down south every every one of these drafts a little different of like where it’s been andos Nashville that thing you’re in this the sphere I mean they are your sphere I guess there’s no the like how memorable would this be you know being in in that atmosphere and and hearing your name called that out yeah obviously it’s a thing you remember for for the rest of your life kind of thing just St being here I’m just to be honest I’m just taking it all in this uh because the draft only happens once and I’m so grateful and happy to be here with my family and and enjoy it with them so yeah so do you have a personal timetable for reaching the NHL yeah so I’m pretty sure for all for me I obviously want to crack the line up as early as I can so whether it’s 18 or 19 or or whatever uh but uh yeah I’m I’m going to work as hard as I can to achieve to achieve that uh this summer and yeah have any of those guys you know on the Blue Jackets told you much about the city of Columbus yet yeah they told me it’s a pretty nice spot like yeah they told me there’s ‘s a couple nice spots there and it’s it’s a nice city and a good City playing yeah yeah you excited to check it out I think you’re coming to probably coming to death camp yeah I’m I’m pumped to check it out yeah yeah for sure yeah you you you play center is that where you see yourself sticking and and if if they have you go to the wing would it be a problem or no no I don’t think it would be a problem at all I played Wing most of my life up until Junior I mean I feel I’m a pretty adaptable player so whether I’m on the center or on the wing I’m going to make the best of it so and I’m sure you’ve been asked a million times about the back injury you know all that it that’s all it’s all good at this point basically yeah my I’m feeling good um yeah I’m on the ice four to four to five times a week um in the gym basically every day as much as I can uh just doing different exercises to help me uh help me stay consistent and uh yeah I know that the past three four years or so it’s been tough you know for the Blue Jackets that’s why they’re picking high it’s you get a guy like you and fanly last year when you look at them what do you see I mean there’s a lot of young Talent there what do you see when you see the Jack yeah I see a lot obviously you got fan Tilly you got guo there now as well and so I think there’s a lot of skill there right now and um yeah I think I wanna I want to help them as much as I can so uh yeah I’d love to win and I’m sure everyone on that team does too so yeah I know you’re from kind of a small town up in in British Columbia you’ve had quite a hockey Journey so far you sit here you said you’re taking it all in but is it you think about kind of the journey you’ve had and just how crazy it is to be in this spot yeah for sure me and my family were talking about it last night just uh everything up until this point is pretty crazy just coming from the small town as chn in here in Vegas uh so like I said it’s just enjoying with my family uh yeah as I have the jackets uh front office told you anything about like you know what just the timeline you were talking about earlier anything about what they expect from you right away um no I mean not really we just uh just regular meeting stuff from Combine and then I met him here once as well and yeah there’s not not really too much of that it just kind of get to know me as a person as a player and they uh ask me what type of player I think I am and stuff like that so who uh who was your biggest kind of influence that you’re kind of the person you try to take the most out of from the NHL can you mirror your game um yeah I mean just watching the NHL in general you uh I kind of just try and uh take little pieces of everyone’s game I think growing up obviously uh watching Sydney cros he was always a good one like big good skilled Center obviously best in the world um yeah just just doing my the best I can to take stuff from his game but it’s pretty hard to do because he’s such a great player but uh yeah I did the best I can that anything you want to say back to the fans in Columbus right now uh yeah I’m excited I’m excited to come down to Columbus and uh I’ll meet all you guys so yeah

So excited for Lindstrom a big 200 foot player and should be a good long term number 2 center at worst a winger
YEAH KID LETS GOOOOO!!!!!CBJ!!!!!!
This who i was hoping they get #2 center with size as boone gets older he can drop down each yr
From what I heard, he plays a physical nasty game, can't wait to see him develop into a premier power forward
Jackets are famous for ruining their top draft picks for over 20 years. Management has been atrocious since the beginning of the franchise. I hope this young man succeeds and changes Columbus fortunes
As long as his back holds up I think he can be a beast❤ #GoJackets
