Zach Edey chooses Memphis over Canada this Summer, Grizzlies opt out on Luke Kennard

on this Monday edition of lock on Grizzlies it is the first day of July it is also the first full day of NBA free agency Memphis isn’t probably going to be a big player in free agency but what they can be as a big fan of Zack Edy not playing for Team Canada gonna spend his summer in Memphis with the grizzly summer league is likely on the horizon Luke canard’s team option was not picked up by Memphis we’ll talk about that and also some early NBA free agency moves it is a wonderful Monday Edition of lockdown Grizzlies the Michael’s here with me let’s lock in you are locked on Grizzlies your daily Memphis Grizzlies podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day welcome to another episode of lock on Grizzlies I am Joe Mullen one of your hosts joined by my co-host Michael Cole of the Commercial Appeal there in me Tennessee we have plenty to talk about on today’s episode it is one of the busiest times in the NBA year free agency is upon us and even though Memphis probably will not be too active free agency wise they are indeed in the news for other reasons we’ll talk about that and more on this episode of lockdown Grizzlies speaking of this episode it is brought to you by FanDuel make every moment more as the playoffs are over Sports Stop sportsing as much as they once did this summer FanDuel was hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long visit fanduel.com lockon to get started we are free and available wherever you get your podcasts YouTube Apple Amazon Spotify like comment rate review subscribe make us a part of your NBA and Memphis Grizzlies content consumption each and every time that an episode drops it was a wildly successful end to June thank you to everyone who helped make us a part of that process I think it was a a record setting month I have to confirm that going back and looking at our numbers but uh we did really well there towards the end a lot of folks checking out lockdown Grizzlies for the first time we might need to say shout out Canada and Shout Out Purdue University uh for for those two reasons but um it was a very strong close to the month and we appreciate that to Michael and I do as we keep building lock on Grizzlies going into I believe year three of our partnership coming up here partner time flies uh when you’re having fun year two and a halfish something like that but uh I digress we’re going to talk a ton about free agency don’t get me wrong and obviously I did a lock on now talking about Luke Canard uh and his team option not being picked up it was brief that is the point of a lock on now so we’ll go a little bit more in depth here momentarily but I wanted to lead off to Michael with Zack Edy right the ninth overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft you were there at his draft uh introduction right cam Spencer was there as well uh you know the the Grizzlies draft picks were in the Jaylen Wells of course as well out of Washington state families were there you were there demichel Cole and quick side note I asked Michael I texted him and said please send me a picture of Zach Edy and just how Mammoth he is and he’s a very large human that’s Zach you gotta watch how you phrase it Joe they’re gonna yeah you’re phrasing you got caught on X that’s true yeah yeah you also just called him Mammoth though I did call him Mammoth that’s fair that’s a fair they got me good I look Joe I for the record for the Paul’s Community out there I I am I never get caught laughing like that like me and Jo I I I I was teaching Joe about the pause thing uh at one yeah that’s true I I was very ignorant to pause I can’t believe I just I I I was flabbergasted that I got caught and and the reason I got caught is because Joe he’s walk Zack e was walking in to the uh press conference room of the media center and he’s the third player to come in but Taylor Jenkins comes in first you know tayor Jenkins probably I don’t know maybe 6’2 something like that he’s pretty tall but normal human tall normal tall yes yeah yeah exactly uh and then after him it’s cam Spencer 63 64 jayen Wells 68 but again I see 68 guys all the time cover NBA team but then there’s a guy who like he’s ducking under the door and then he rises up when he comes from under the door and it’s like I tweeted exactly what I thought and for those who didn’t see it you got cooked yeah I got cooked I said this man is huge now I I meant that he’s just a fairly large human being like Joe X is one out but yeah um you you touched on the Joe I mean just see him in person I mean 74 he’s every bit of that and then of course list him at like 295 and whatnot I didn’t really get that Vibe like if if I had to just straight up guess but then you know he had on like the Slender he had like on the slim fitted outfit and whatnot if I had to guess I would have thought he was like 250 260 but then he is 7 74 so he probably cares it you know really well but uh seems Seems really well like put together for a basketball player who you know his coaches said that he can get up and down and things like that uh but yeah let’s get into this news that you were just talking about with him skipping the Olympics yeah just for uh for comparison’s sake Victor wanyama right this is a guy who’s about the same height as Z which is wild to say out loud when Bama in terms of his weight I’m fairly confident is not 300 pounds no yeah nowhere near probably I he’s 250 yeah he’s probably 2:30ish would be my guess and there will be a massive difference when we see them uh but Zack Edy in the press conference that we were talking about earlier it might have been you that asked it partner I forgive me if it wasn’t somebody asked him his summer plans and idea of Team Canada they said they were going out to dinner and they were going to talk about all the summer stuff I’m guessing they had a good conversation from a Memphis perspective because Zack Ed has taken his name out of consideration for team at the Olympics he is focusing his summer efforts on getting ready for his rookie season that almost certainly I would imagine means that he’ll be participating in summer league maybe not the Salt Lake summer league that Memphis does here in a week or so but maybe the Vegas summer league Ed will be uh involved in it’s going to be really interesting to see you know him and XI Jackson potentially and you talked about it last week on an episode partner the idea of Scotty Pippen Jr and Trey Json all these guys it’s going to be an interesting fun summer league team for Memphis led by big Zack Edy the Big M for for for the real extreme gamblers out there go go goe over there Get Go Go De deep into your gambling bag for this one because this is going to be a talented summer league Squad I mean they got of course yeah of course go to FanDuel right now you got Scotti Pippen Jr at your point you probably gonna have cam Spencer play the two Jaylen Wells as your three then GG Jackson as your four and then I mean any man May Mo you could start Zack Eed at the five rest them when you have those backto backs like you said he might not play in Salt Lake City I think he’ll probably play there but he won’t play all three nights you know three games three nights uh he plays one night Trey Jimson starts the next or whatever the case may be however they decide to do that but you got six guys who uh either have had experience on the Grizzlies team in the rotation or you want to get experience in that type of position so very talented summer league team but uh from Memphis standpoint it’s good to see Zack Ed kind of commit himself to the work with the Grizzlies I think that’s important for Memphis considering that he’s the number nine pick uh so there’s a decent chance that he’s going to get a lot of playing time we’ve heard Taylor Jenkins Zack kimman both as you kind of alluded to uh you know the player introductions um I asked Taylor Jenkins probably two or three questions I ask them more questions than the players because that’s you know Taylor Jenkins you won’t get browny points for being the most interesting man in the world but for all the non I guess the real generic basketball talk that he has I like talking to Taylor Jenkins personally because you can get into the nuances of the game with him you you he’s very good at talking about oh Taylor how do you plan on using this guy he’ll he’ll you know there’ll be some secrecy in there but he’s very good at kind of uh shifting you in the right direction in terms of how grizz’s plan on using players and uh I got a good sense of they really want to uh make Zaki a big part of things so it’s good to see that he’s gonna say hey I prefer to spend my Summer with the Grizzlies than the Canadian national team and it sounds like he said I have plenty of time going forward to do the you know the national team experience but right now first year rookie year you’re to this Grizzlies team that’s trying to compete for a championship yeah go play with the Grizzlies that’s important to understand right and he’s 22 years old he’ll be 26 the that time the next Olympics R around uh probably will make that team I would imagine and there will be lots of opportunities for him to play internationally I’m hopeful that this also means that guys like John Morant Desmond Bane jiren Jackson Jr we know they’ll almost certainly show up in Vegas right like they’ll go to the games but I talked about last week sometimes these guys will go and have a practice it’s the closest that you get to that training camp kind of environment in October obviously it’s July you’re you you still have months of an offseason to go before training camp opens hopefully this means that those guys again I’m not saying John Morant needs to play Summer League but in those practice sessions even if it’s just shooting around walking through possible sets just getting a feel for how Ed sets screens the sooner that that process can start the better because there’s a reason why Zack Ed speaking of FanDuel is one of the early favorites for rookie of the year because he’s going to play and is he a starter probably depending on how free agency sh out is he going to play 25 to 30 minutes a night almost certainly this is a guy that is going to get look at the situations I mean look at look at the top two picks right you we got uh Ray went to Atlanta they got some they’re gonna have to move some pieces around if he wants to start uh Alex sawar even him like we’ll talk about it later in the segment but the the I mean later in the show but the Wizards just signed you know a notable Center who started pretty much most of his NBA career so uh you know some things got to be working worked out you know it just feels like this is one of those years it’s anybody guess who could be Rookie of the Year and I I 100% believe at this point in time what we know about how the Grizzlies are gonna value Zack Ed and clearly from his standpoint this is where he wants to be right this is where he wants to be so uh yeah I he made that very clear oh yeah he made that very clear that he was very one of my biggest takeaways for sure on on Friday when my I thought it was funny how he talked about Memphis was the only team that him coming out as a sophomore because he went and got NBA draft opinions the grizzly said they would have taken him and he was basically the they were basically the only NBA team that said that but then you know maybe some some media Savvy can be coached to him I think he said how Memphis didn’t talk to him at all this cycle and he was kind of surprised that he got picked by them at nine that was you know what I got out of there Joe what did you get they’re happy that he’s here don’t get it wrong but he’s playing B you think do you think the Donovan clinging stuff was just smoke no they hadn’t talked to him they hadn’t talked to so so they had to be talking to somebody that’s what I’m saying yeah I think we’re we’re on the same page I just this that was listeners yeah like I said shout out to Kristen Peak I think is her name I’m in on eeve now it’s pretty clear he was playing B but that’s okay not everybody is going to be playing a is is is the better better JB bicker staff just got a a job at with the Pistons uh another head coaching opportunity for him I’m fairly confident he wasn’t there playing a either so that’s that’s how it works out in life sometimes let us know what you think in the comments about Ed going to summer league almost certainly being a part of the Memphis development plans over the summer it’s definitely good for the Grizzlies long term I think to Michael and I are on the same page with that when we come back here on lockdown Grizzlies we will discuss Luke canard’s team option not being picked up does that mean Luke is not coming back cam Spencer I might have been Jaylen one of the two young rookies has Lamar Stevens’s number so it’s we could probably say yeah cam Spencer thank you so I think we can safely say that Lamar is probably not returning how the roster shapes up going into the free agency period here we’ll talk about next here on lockdown Grizzlies but first this episode of lockdown Grizzlies is brought to you by FanDuel I love sports sportsy sports sports there they go down into my eyeballs I never want them to stop but as playoffs are over now we’re into the off season it’s really just Major League Baseball that’s going and playing actual games the WNBA of course is there as well there’s just less sportsing occurring than usual and that bums me out it probably bums you out too FanDuel lets me keep the sports going whenever I want all I have to do is open the app and dream up bets anytime that I’m in the mood this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long head over to fanduel.com locked on and start making the most out of your summer FanDuel and official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball when we come back here on lockdown Grizzlies Luke Canard is opted out by the Memphis Grizzlies stick around welcome back to lockdown Grizzlies I am Joe mullenax chatting with my co-host and good buddy to Michael Cole of the Commercial Appeal there in Memphis Tennessee he is the Memphis grizzley’s beat writer for that publication in case you did not attend any uh birthday parties over the weekend and not know de Michael’s job working working hard while trying to be a good friend um happy to have demichel as my co-host and happy to talk Grizzlies basketball with him every chance I get dichael you are as tun in tuned in as anybody to this Grizzlies roster Luke Canard has not been opted into with his team option I think it was 14.8 million is what the amount was roughly that is not currently on the Memphis Grizzlies books it is widely assumed by numerous reports that Canard will most certainly I think Jake fiser being one of the most recent ones uh the NBA is operating under the assumption that canard’s going to stay in Memphis and they’re just working out a long-term deal but what does it mean in the short term why does it matter to Memphis in terms of the apron you’ve talked to us of about that several times yeah but why does the current reality of Memphis only having 13 guaranteed deals as opposed to 14 on the roster matter uh as of this moment well it’s it’s all about that that apron number from a flexibility standpoint uh for the grizzly side and then there’s the the Luke Canard point of it too uh when we first started talking about luk Canard me and you I think in the last couple months in this whole team option thing one of the first things that I mentioned was the idea that uh the Grizzlies could choose to technically opt out and basically restructure the deal uh that’s kind of what they’re going through right now that is that is the hope that is the intent uh and and you’ve mentioned it as well kind of you know Luke Canard would win in that case scenario where he gets more longterm security instead of playing on a one-year contract and the Grizzlies will winning that scenario where they can play less you know money per year and that could uh lower his numberers so right now you talk about if he was the 14.8 million I think now without that number being factored in the Grizzlies are about 11 and a half close to almost 12 million under the first April so basically if you want to bring him back the number will matter like if if you still bring him back at 12 million a year if it’s 3 years 36 you still going to the apron if you bring him back at 3 years 30 or three years 33 whatever the case may be that’ll slightly right put them below the apron and then we’ll see what other moves on the margin that that are made and speaking of moves on the margin uh get back to the point about the roster construction right I you mentioned uh you know Zack kimman and not kind of lending his hand with with Zack Edy uh earlier on when we talked to him on Friday he also didn’t lend his hand when he was talking about you know the roster construction that was me that asked him about that like how how you gonna work this thing out right because now uh with the idea let’s say that luuk Canard potentially be back you’re I mean you’re right at the limit you’re right at the limit because Zack Zack Ed is a is a guaranteed contract and odds are Jaylen Wells or Cam Spence Spencer will be on a standard contract and I think it’s going to be Jaylen Wells uh cam Spencer goes on your two-way alongside Scotty Pippin Jr because you’re you’re not gonna lose Scotty Pippin Jr you might be willing to lose Trey Jimson uh maybe and that’s how you create another two-way spot if you need it but I don’t think they’re there now again the plan right now as of today is for him to play in the summer league so uh he is still a part of this team so with all that being said it is a it is a roster Crunch and it’s going to come down to you know eventually I think we’re going to talk a little bit more about it just some moving pieces on the back end of the roster like you’re going to have to get real creative about who and where can you potentially move some pieces too to uh create some flexibility and then there’s another thing too like let’s be clear this does not prevent the Grizzlies from signing guys right now right you can they can sign two or three guys from minimum contracts in theory if they want to you just have to get it down to 15 right before the season starts uh but again that wouldn’t really be smart unless you sign them to non- guaranteed deals because you can just cut bake with the money but usually when you sign guys you know you’re gonna eat money when you wave them so uh that’s where that’s where the Luke Canard situation I think is for the most part but yeah Joe the the roster situation is is interesting because you’re right we should not expect the Grizzlies just to be super big players in free agency and that’s okay they’ve never really been super big players in free agency I think they’ve signed two free agents in the Zack kimman era tus Jones if I recall correctly and then uh Derrick Rose right those are the two I think that were free agents they might have resigned guys like Dylan Brooks I thinkign there were some trades that were made but in terms of strictly signing a free agent that’s not really how this front office has operated I’m curious to see that back end of the roster you have a couple of teams now like the Washington Wizards the Detroit Pistons you know that are they have cap space especially in the case of the Pistons do you pay the Pistons in a couple of second round picks or even a protected first to take on at this point a John kcha or a zier Williams players that you don’t necessarily see a future with you in the organization you value the roster spot more than the future asset are they at that point that would kind of be different than what they’ve done in the past I do but we hear them say all the time to Michael you know the idea of tripling down on you was that really the right decision as of this moment it kind of feels like they’re quadrupling down on youth now it’s still early in the offseason there’s things that can be done I would be interested to see if they try to free up not necessarily money but try to bring in another you know whether it’s a contributing big man another guard if you don’t believe in Derrick Rose whatever the case might be finding another way to open up a roster spot to try to bring in more of a veteran presence towards the end of the rotation as opposed to guys I mean obviously love zier Williams they wouldn’t have drafted him but it’s pretty obvious at this point he’s not helping them right now and if you’re the Detroit Pistons and you’re going to be bad anyway why not take a shot on Z Williams that’s what they just did with Tim Hardaway right uh they’re they’re the perfect team you mentioned like if if you Detroit is taking on because let be honest like great players aren’t going to Detroit so even though they got that cap space you’re not convincing Paul George uh to go to Detroit or whether the case may be so they got to be creative they say okay get some Assets in return and use that cap space because you got to use a certain amount of that’s how the NBA Works uh so with all that being said um you know I do see you know that situation kind of potentially working out in the Grizzlies favor you know at some point whether it’s Z with there’s whoever they decide to uh do something with they have some additional seconds they have all their future assets uh to be able to make those type of moves but they got to do something if they want to be real players here uh again they can go out and sign a couple guys for little small money as long as it’s not like you’re not going out to sign guys for the mid-level exception and then say Oh we might cut them at the end of know preseason you’re not going to do that that’s a lot of money to tight into one player so at the same time you know they got some options here but uh I I’m really looking forward to seeing how they handled it it’s G to be fascinating let Michael and I know what you think about all of that in terms of roster Construction in the comments below and that’s something that we’ll definitely talk more about as the month continues when we come back here on lock Grizzlies will close out our Monday episode looking at early NBA free agency moves that have moved us talk about that next but first I want to remind you that to Michael and I are proud members of the show is over which will be in about 10 minutes or so but when we come back we’re going to talk about early NBA free agency moves that move us stick with us welcome back to lock on Grizzlies I’m Joe Mullen X closing out our July 1 episode here Monday July 1 with demichel Cole the commercial appeals Memphis Grizzlies beat writer award winning Memphis Grizzlies beat Rider make sure you’re following him on X at demichel C you can follow me on X at Joe Mullen X between the two of us we’ve covered the Grizzlies for a bit you’ve come to the right place for Memphis Grizzlies conversation and to Michael we’ll close with the more macro View of the league to this point obviously as Memphis makes moves we’ll address them in subsequent episodes locked on Nows will’ll be there uh but Memphis was never really going to be a major player early on in the process record this episode you know the general understanding is lcard will likely be back in Memphis but there hasn’t really even been any other major rumors around the Grizzlies because that roster is already pretty decided uh beyond the Canard situation there have been some other signings though some things that have changed the landscape in the Western Conference kind of some indirect yeah yeah so things that affect the Memphis Grizzlies on the grander scale what what are some signings early on that uh you think make that connection to Memphis Yeah I mean there are a few that stand out to me I’ll let you focus more on the CP3 Wy one but I gotta mention it that’s that’s that’s that’s that’s my pop Squad you know he’s a big Spurs fan and you know I’m just thinking about the prospects of Chris Paul you know you could people talk about the champ chionship stuff all they want but you can’t deny the fact that for majority of his career where he goes the team gets better uh it was a little different in Golden State because you know he wasn’t really handed to keys and plus they were a Dynasty before he got there but um Phoenix you know New Orleans Charlotte whatever uh Houston wherever he went they got better and but even beyond that let’s talk about the center spot a little bit because because here’s how I’m going to kind of uh get back and localize it to the Memphis Grizzlies uh I would say for mij Joe another backup big is decently important it’s not the biggest deal in the world but think back to the Grizzlies during their two-year run with 50 plus wins number two seat you had Stephen Adams as your starting big you had Brandon Clark as your backup in theory you got zackie and Brandon Clark as kind of a two you know two guys that you could play and then of course Jaren Jackson You’re GNA get his minut at Center whatever the case may be but those two guys who’s your Xavier tman they don’t have one it doesn’t exist right now yeah they don’t have one so uh and X wasn’t the greatest player in the world but he had an important role because when Stephen Adams went down boom he jumps right into the rotation sometimes even starts and Brandon Clark stays in his same role when Stephen Adams was unplayable in a in a playoff series Here Comes Xavier tman starting lineup who win this series 4-2 six games you need that important third big who’s personal enough from the standpoint of he’s different from Zack Edy he’s different from Brandon Clark there are some guys out there but getting to the point here I don’t think jonis Valen chunis is wildly different from those two guys Andre Drummond is a little bit uh but the point I I mentioned those two because those are two free agent centers who are already off the board right so uh looking at the money I think Andre Drummond was roughly two years 10 Millions uh per reports and jonis with the bton Wizards got three years roughly around 30 million so now we’re starting to see how the Center Market shapes up and it’s all comes back to the situation with the Grizzlies because one of the biggest pieces to the Luc Canard team option te if they would have picked it up uh we would have known automatically in free agency that they only have the $5.2 million mid-level exception now right now in theory you still have over a12 million mid-level exception to potentially use we mentioned Chris Paul a little bit earlier Chris Paul got one year 11 million you know uh from the Spurs so if you’re telling me you can get that caliber a player over at the center spot because y’s got three years 30 million and Y has started for the most of his career uh having that 12 million a year they might not they don’t even really need to use all of it because you don’t when you get a mid level exception you don’t have to use all of it you could seven Mill a year I think you can get you a solid big so uh my early takeaway is if the Grizzlies really want that third big the price doesn’t seem to be too high for quality one like Drummond went for two years 10 million and he checks a lot of boxes like he would have been a good true backup for Edie doing similar things to what Edie is going to be expected to do so that was an interesting signing uh I’m with you on the Spurs I think Chris Paul going there you’re basically paying him to be a player coach on the floor help that young team develop over the next year and uh you know teach the the intricacies of pick and roll basketball with W Bama and castle and there’s a lot of to that right like San Antonio will be better but even if they don’t make a big playoff run this year the year that they’re going to spend with a veteran leader like Chris Paul there’s value to that out remember that yeah out a lot yeah I think another takeaway from me partner is the Western Conference got a little bit weaker which is good right like cavius cwell Pope going to Orlando getting that payday thank goodness EAS conference is finally stepping up to the plate yeah Paul almost certainly going to be a Philadelphia 76er the Clippers and the uh and Paul George came out and announced Clippers did that they were stepping away from one another the great irony is it would make sense for the Clippers to rebuild at this point but with kawi Leonard and James Hardon that’s not gonna happen uh it wasn’t all Western Conference weakness depending on your perspective of the Pelicans you know Dante Murray going from a hawk to a pelican uh there’s a lot pelic wait a second h pause did I do that right y yeah you gotta pause that one you gotta pause that one you gotta pause that one I’m learning I’m learning to a pelican so Mah Hawk to a pelican pause okay yeah uh Dante Murray is now a uh member of the New Orleans Pelicans does that really make them that much better I think that’s a fair question uh but on the grander scale the Clippers again we’ll see how they address it got worse it’s hard to spin I think some de people were trying to spin it kcp is pretty clearly important to winning at this stage so yeah that’s a glue guy there Orlando got better and the Nuggets got worse doesn’t mean that you they still have Nicola yic they still have Jamal Murray like the pelic or excuse me the nuggets are still G to be really good as long as kawhai plays with Harden good did you see Christian bra what did he say oh the Nuggets GM basically it was a couple days before and quite frankly this probably was kyp’s like all right bet you let’s let’s let me call your bluff on that but uh basically uh in so many words I think he was asked about the situation with kavus callwell pop and he said that if you look at the history of you know Dynasty teams uh you have to be able to place your fourth to fifth best starter which is actually true actually true that’s actually Fair analysis yeah but he said that you know paraphrasing here that they already have a guy in place and Christian Brown if you look at the advanced numbers and stuff like that they they do just fine if cavius callwell put went somewhere else I’m gonna call his bluff on that one you know I mean you still got yish but but that’s a big loss that it feels like a shenanigans kind of moment there I don’t disagree at all uh let to Michael and I know how you’re feeling about this early free agency moves the West gets weaker the East gets stronger all those sorts of things again let us know in the comments we’re happy to interact with you there uh this was a fast episode lots of things to discuss and it’s going to continue to be that way going into our Tuesday show maybe the Canard situation has solidified itself a little bit more maybe Memphis gets involved in some rumors here or there obviously the first full day of free agency is today it started on Sunday evening uh we’ll have to see how it all plays out but lots of different ways this thing can go as we continue to react to the NBA World spinning during this busy early July kind of process maybe we’ll start hearing some summer league Rumblings as well from the Memphis Grizzlies in terms of their roster yeah yeah a couple things have already come out in terms of yo uh other guys joining roster like for those who are very in tune to the local scene he was former Memphis Tiger Memphis uh Mississippi State basketball player DJ Jeff is gonna join uh the grizzly summer league Squad so that’s a familiar face a local face you know you’ll be able to see you know in addition to some of the guys that we already mentioned but um I’m I want to see this summer league team like I I know I was I was kind of you know like I I was excited to go see last year’s team too so I I want to you know because last year I was like man you know they got Jacob Gillard gonna have David Rody I mean they were stacked from the standpoint of you know Vince Williams that was kind of Vince Williams coming out party was like oh look this dude then he got hurt uh during Vegas and they lost and now you see why you know it all makes sense now right they were winning and then he gets hurt they lose and he comes back and they win Vince Williams for you but uh but yeah they they sent a lot of guys last year even T bovic I know a lot of people were asking me about him being there this summer doesn’t sound like that’s uh the at least from his Camp from his side so we’ll see if the Grizzlies can kind of convince him to get over here because you get him in addition to what they already have Sixth Man of the Year Sixth Man of the summer league yeah well you know they they compare him to bdon bonovich out there they sure do good Lord in an era of comparisons that’s that’s that’s a pretty lofty one so lots of stuff to discuss on our Tuesday episode make sure you are with us for de Michel I’m Joe we are so grateful again we had a wonderful end of June doesn’t happen without you guys continue to like comment rate review subscribe on 1. I have to eat crow for my previous Zach Edey takes. This guy is going to be a monster like Yao or Shaq! Grizz can play big or small if needed. And Zach will eventually learn to shoot more proficiently

  2. Totally disagree on him being plan 'B'. Nobody in their right mind should have wanted Clingan over Edey. The noise about Clingan was all about trying to keep other people from grabbing Edey. It was a classic Red Auerbach strategy. How could you even speculate that any sane person would want Clingan over Edey? To do that someone would have had to be working some serious mojo on the other guys' minds. Oh! And that's what actually happened. Let's give the psych out kudos to Kleiman! The ESPN bozos and other "pundits" helped fuel the Clingan fire and Kleiman just rode that wave. JMO

  3. Welcome Zach Eady to the Memphis grizzlies can't wait to see in the Beale Street blues waiting to see John Moran throw Zack Eady Alley-oop & him Jerry Jackson Jr be like the twin towers Blocking EveryThing!!!!
