appreciate y’all as always right quick man very quick man Tod gy uh one of my favorite running backs of all time man career cut short due to authoring me and um to me he was a 27 2017 NFL MVP finished second and um it was one of the most dumin this season I can remember 2,00 yards from scrimmage um 1300 yards rushing um could get the ball in the end zone rushing and receiving but he was just one of the best complete backs of his era but like I said career was cut short due to injuries but he sat down on the 2510 podcast for y’all that don’t know it’s LeSean McCoy and Deshawn Jackson both former Philadelphia Eagles are both former NFL superstar players and he got talking about uh why he retired and his last season in Atlanta was sorry but uh he said he had to see what it was about and all that good stuff but I’m G let y’all here and then I’ll give youall my final thought on it right quick but uh let’s get this thing rolling man like we always do because y’all know how we do it on the sports machine so I remember like when I signed my extension with the ram so the agent was breaking it down he was like this you get this amount you get this amount and then if you know they cut you you be 26 with a lot of money and and you young and then the dude you know the and he talking about when he was cut by the Rams he was still over over $34 million I think it was a lot of money so when he came to Atlanta he got a dis the Falcons got a discount at five and a half million and to be honest did they get that 5 and a half million worth I don’t think so uh the first I said first nine and 10 games yeah they got the five and a half million but the second half is just like he played like he just signed a roster bonus let’s keep it going hre gu was like yeah but we’ll never let that happen and that’s exactly how that played out so but it was I don’t know like so got cut from Rams I’m like I went to Atlanta I kind of had to see what that was talking about for real CU you play I played at Georgia you feel mea Atlanta and don’t for get I think it was uh Dante Fowler who was another flop that was here uh who tried to uh persuade him to cont to Atlanta and it worked uh Dante F had two very subpar seasons in Atlanta and uh we see how that played out I think he’s in Dallas now or he may be somewhere else uh but sometimes man you just gota let things be what they gonna be uh so keep it going that one happened I was like season the sorry and then after that it was like all right bro I live in LA I’m chilling I done did everything like it wasn’t like of course love to have a ring and stuff like that but went to a Super Bowl loss I wasn’t really chilling I mean tripping I’m like I don’t know like I feel like I did a lot of stuff that I never would have thought I would have ever did and just having like fun just playing football you know what I’m saying like Liv your dream yeah but like living out a a lot of people dreams for real like that type of type of vibe but it wasn’t like it really came down to like it didn’t really matter if I scored 10 more touchdowns if I scored zero like it wasn’t going to make me it wasn’t gonna satisfy me no more for real so yeah I was just like and there it is um he talks about uh he also talks about in his interview why he retired what it was like being in the NFL um but to say um That season in Atlanta was sorry it was uh kind of because uh at that point um ownership was changing coaches um they were going through a lot of turmoil Matt Ryan was uh getting over the hill and y’all gotta remember I think uh it was Julio’s last season in Atlanta I’m sorry uh was it Julio’s last season I think it was uh but let’s look at gurley’s 2020 season um and I’mma pull up the whole log and here it is um you look at the first eight games he only had one 100 yard game that was against Carolina and they still lost that game ironically uh but he had 121 yards and 29 receiving yards so he had a total of 150 yards uh in a touchdown in a touchdown run he average eight yards to carry that game and that was by far his best game in the Atlanta Falcon uniform uh actually to me to be honest his first five game was very solid it just that author knee kicked in and uh by week nine uh he was pretty much shut down look at his last uh five games in that 1619 negative one 1618 678 yards and nine touchdowns and what’s crazy um before he scored his last touchdown in week nine he was in top five in rushing touchdowns so the talent was still there the wear and tear of putting pressure on their knee and not having someone uh on the side of him uh helping him out running back by committee kind of wore him down pretty early because if he had someone uh to run with him uh Quadra allinson was here I think and um but he was still young and he was still trying to find his way but they did not par anyone with tar gury so by the time he got the week nine he was pretty much uh done deal but uh to say that it was sorry and I agree with to a certain extent because like I said coaching turmoil uh aging quarterback lose a superstar receiver uh I mean the team was just going through a change and at 5.5 million did they like I said did they get that no uh so I think uh he could have worded a little bit better and to be honest uh I just not agree with how he said it uh but I do agree with part of it was sorry because of the coach that we had and like I said change was coming front office was in turmoil as well you switching over from Thomas demitro over to ter font know The Following season so I mean it was just a lot going on uh at that time for the Atlanta Falcons uh but for him to blast your team I think that’s one things one of those things you have to really just keep to yourself man uh or if you’re going to say something like that just kind of worded different because um talk about a guy who couldn’t even fall in front of the one yard line and win a football game uh so if y’all remember that he supposed to flopped on the one yard line ran out the clock did not happen uh so hey it is what it is man but he had a very solid career man and uh i’ be honest with y’all man if we went off a pure talent he would probably be a hall of fam in my book but since he did not make it to season 10 we can’t go there so um that’s my thought on it man but y’all seen the video man tell me what y’all think uh sh talk GLE
