guys signed right now yep or when when are you getting your contract cuz you just signing everybody so here’s the thing they are they they signed can can I list them go ahead okay people signed to the tronto map Poli defense Morgan Riley Chris tanv oel lilen mcabe hawen paaw okay great that’s six you’re done nope oh hackin paaw Ben Wah Timmons Cade Weber yeah they are um so I think by the end of today or by the end of this week the Leafs will be over the salary cap which you’re allowed to do in the summer they are under it right now by how much uh they’re at 88.7 N4 and the salary Cap’s 89 right no the salary cap is 88 so they are over the salary they’re over it by uh 7 94 Grand now not all and this this is a a common thing that happens on cap friendly which uh we’re going to lose in like four days this is a common thing that happens during the summer is the roster is loaded up with names and some of those guys are going to get waved Andor sent to the miners yeah and you look at the Vancouver conu they’re over they have 24 NHL contracts and the max is supposed to be 23 exactly like they’re not going to there are moves to come so what moves come well they’re gonna I think tie a rocket to Conor Timmons okay um yeah that is listen he wasn’t a Keef guy but that is very definitely not a baru guy no and like I I know that Kyle dubis would take him in Pittsburgh we’ve already heard that they’re still trying to add um and there’s no way to do that without moving money off some people have been like well you could get rid of David camp or you could get rid of Cy yarn cro and maybe you should try to get rid of Ryan Reeves and these are all very small moves that you could argue they should make one or all of them but it’s just not going to move the needle the way moving a core guy would move the needle which I keep saying but they’re married to this or at least seem to be married to this so Yanni Haw andpa yep who is he a lot of leaf fans too many Leaf fans are like I don’t know this player so he’s bad and watch more hockey that’s that’s just not the case Yanni Hawkin PA has played hundreds of games in the NHL he has been a valuable member of the Carolina Hurricanes who no good defenseman they have been he has been right they have no good defenseman left well now they don’t have anymore uh he’s been a valuable member of the Dallas Stars um who no good defenseman or at least I was pretty sure of that heading into today um over the past three seasons he hasn’t missed a ton of time due to injury y he did miss a bunch uh at the end of this season um I believe only played 62 games but he played over 80 in each of the two seasons before that over the last three seasons combined Yanni Haw andpa is 11th in the entire NHL in hits he is fourth among defensemen in hits and he is third amongst defenseman who shoot right in what’s the stat Adam being a cool guy no it starts with an H uh H happiness say it so I can the thing more like yny that’s that’s what he is all right he’s a dog out there listen you know we were talking what you like Yanni har I do you like that like we talked about Oliver emman Larson not necessarily fitting The Identical uh stereotypical mold of what a brad TR living defenseman is um Yanni har kPa is 100% that beefy boys all the rage beefy boys on the leaves yep beefy boy well okay so so Brad’s big thing was and this is last year in into this year you know poor guy got three weeks last year or if if even that because I don’t remember how close the draft was to free agency last year but it wasn’t as close as it was this year this year was bananas so we’re looking at a uh uh a general manager who’s finally been able to put his stamp on the team defense and team defense team defense not just defense but I’m talking about forwards too forwards who actually play some defense as well team defense has been a major issue for the Toronto mate beliefs but having the Personnel to play the way that they want to play to play in the Atlantic division which the Leafs never geared their team towards before true living got here this team was like we don’t care that we’re in the Atlantic we are not playing Atlantic hockey and what happened they got run over and then they started to go well we better get Kyle Clifford oh no he’s suspended oh we got to get this guy oh no he you know what I mean so now it’s like well listen if they’re all 6’4 and over and they all hit you can’t suspend them all so uh and and I think I think at the end of the day what I like about what TR living’s doing here and I really I’m a lot more bullish on his free agency last year and this year than I think a lot of people are I think that this move along with Cade Weber along with Chris tenv along with Oliver e who by the way they got for less than Joel Edmonson I’m is that mindbending doesn’t that melt given the option between the two I’d take oel well I’m trying to figure out who who did a better job for the amount of money oel is going to make but i’ I’ve already seen some people go that’s too much for hawen paaw and I’m like you at two years 1.5 per if that’s the conversation we’re having your team has other issues well and and and you and they do and it’s because they got too much money wrapped up in a lot of guys or too few of guys we get that 61% wrapped up in five men last year the variable contract amount was exactly what Ryan reev signed for $1.35 million I would imagine it’s around 1.4 so if Haw and pod doesn’t work out you put him you put him down somebody will claim whatever I hate I hate qualifying it with that because I want the Leafs to have hawen paaw because hawen paw is worth having absolutely over the last three seasons he’s averaged 18 minutes plus uh per night Aver 18 minutes on a good team Dallas on a good team and a St that I discovered totally by accident remember I said Yanni um was 11th in hits over the last three seasons uh number 15 Ryan Reeves with 640 number 17 Simone benoa with 630 so uh they are getting a team that will beat you up they could in theory have a third pair of Beno Haw andp that’s dangerous which is a bunch of fun hey Jess question for you when you watch Toronto map Leafs do you like seeing them throw hits sure yeah everybody likes hit do you like the direction they’re taking this defense core yes I do it’s just that I feel like the Leafs of last year weren’t a couple tweaks away from reaching another level no the captain said they’re right there they’re right there that’s that’s why I’m like disappointed in tr living’s day one so far and what happened at the draft and all that stuff because I feel like they weren’t right there and it’s not going to take like a Hawkin paaw just insert him there and benwell Haw andpa bottom pairing o wow it’s fun and O’s in the lineup and Tan’s there those feel like simple little additions you know they’re not big wholesale changes and I feel like that’s what’s going to take for the Leafs to get to the next level is big changes to the forward group and the defense and none of this feels like a big enough tweak to this uh organization and this roster to take them to another level where we’re not just trying to win one round and out yeah by the way I mentioned hawen pod didn’t play a single playoff game for the Dallas Stars this year for any of you who are like great we got a healthy scratch for the Dallas Stars that’s not the case his last game of this past season was March 16th injured uh against the LA Kings um so I assume he was injured okay yeah there’s been no signings to the forward group yeah like that’s like I know this is the hackin paaw video but it disappoints me that there okay you resign Max DOI and you lose bruzi and like where’s the addition where’s the change how am I supposed to believe that this team is now better I think you’re I think you’re hang on the money on that Jesse and that’s why I think there’s more coming I really I know that there are people uh uh you know to me somebody like Jeff Skinner makes a lot of sense for the Leafs um because you get him on a team friendly deal he doesn’t even have to leave sell his house in Buffalo like you’re good to go right and and if you can get a guy like that in the door that solves a lot of problems for you because I think he’s money in the bank for 25 goals and you’re not expecting Jeff Skinner to also kill penalty like the way they the way they used to do it is like they’d bring in these guys and be like all right I know that you’ve never done this before but how about you try it with us and I don’t think they’re doing that anymore I think that there is a you got to go out on July 2nd and find some value and they found value and haw and paaw on day on day one which is great go find the the value on on day two as well the way you did with DOI and brusi last year I gotta say although they don’t have the money to spend that all my ranting uh at the beginning of the day when it looked like the Leafs were going to have a two righty decor tanv lilligren hawen paaw the Toronto map Leafs are employing multiple right-handed defenseman oh my God this has got to be the most they’ve employed in a decade yeah I’m not I’m I’m not joking no question did we all forget that the problem with the Leafs wasn’t the defense in the postseason it was the fact oh no they can’t it was the that they couldn’t score and also their goalie was but was that not the biggest issue and now we’ve done nothing to figure out the scoring what if they defend it harder though they’re going to hit the p in the net you’re going to look you can’t win a game z0 you can’t win a game z00 you can they’re going to the into the net you got to put a puck in the back of the net so I don’t you know what you know what he’s right he’s right let let the tree cook no let the tree cook yny hock has vulcanized rubber caked in his moulders he’s going to eat that Puck and then carry it into the
