Key team for Mariners fans to watch ahead of trade deadline

so if you’re looking for a key to the deadline to me after talking to some people over the weekend the answer is the Blue Jays at six and a half that that is as you said the kind of a swing team in the American League the Rays would be there too and I would put the Diamond Backs like there’s some other teams the Mets that are kind of hey let’s see where they go because they’ve got some interesting characters but from what I’ve been kind of told and led to believe the thing about the Blue Jays is if they are in it they’re going to be in it but if they decide they are ready to sell it’s not going to be a half measure yeah their house is it a life expectancy of like okay yeah you know like a year and a half left on bashed and V like okay we got to make a decision if they do it they’re going to do it all in it’s not going to be oh no we’ll trade yimy Garcia and a couple like no no no no no if they sell they’re selling Vlad they’re selling bashet like really really sell and you know that’s pretty intriguing right they’ve got some guys that are complete differen makers starting with bashet and Vlad but there’s a couple other dudes on that team as well their schedule doesn’t exactly lead me to believe that this is going to go terribly for them they go to Houston then they come here so that’s a tough stretch for them in theory hopefully lose five or six then it’s San Francisco Arizona Detroit Tampa Texas Baltimore you said that fast San Francisco not very good they’re pretty not that good Arizona been terrible this year Detroit one of the teams that are eight plus back Tampa as you know good team but not a great team and then Texas who’s been really struggling and then finally Baltimore right before the deadline so other than you know kind of Houston I’ll throw the Mariners in there because they’re still eight games above 500 and then Baltimore at the end everyone else is like at or around 500 or below that they play so if they don’t go on some sort of a run in in Toronto I think it’s pretty clear they’re bad right at that point they’ll they’ll know like you had your chance right this is not a truly difficult stretch it’s not the or and the Yankees and the yep I mean it’s it’s San Francisco Arizona Detroit Tampa Texas Baltimore plus Houston and Seattle like yeah that’s a that you should be able to go above 500 and get yourself back into the race and if you can’t you’re not very good yep and uh all of the sudden if Pete Alonzo is not available yep right name that we’ve probably talked about the most is there a second person after that that intrigues you Jaz chisel we talked about last week you weren’t all that intrigued by him Luis Robert again is still going to be the most expensive guy on the market and there is a chance that they wait until the offseason to deal him thinking that that’s the best time to deal a guy like that I still think they’ll trade him but we’ll find out the Blue Jays have the biggest bang for your buck if that’s what you want there’s a big part of me that I’m like I don’t know if this team right is a bad way I don’t know if this Market that is this ridiculous has what you need versus Harry Ford and Cole and these guys that are just and and doing some of the research and looking at their numbers not just their names but here’s the problem with your theory it’s not it’s not crazy I like that I like that you’re thinking this way you’re not wrong except your pitching is so good right now yes and that is not guaranteed to St Luis Castillo is now into his 30s we’ll see how much longer he has as you’ve said this has not been his best year I don’t know if that’s a harbinger of things to come can you sign Cal and uh Logan and Kirby probably not I mean not even just because you you don’t have the money but because at least one of those guys may just say I’m sorry I’m not signing until I get to free agency I don’t care I want to go to free agency and see what the market is willing to pay me and you only have so long while pitchers are healthy and for all that you’ve got in your system you don’t have another crop of pitchers coming so what you want to wait four years for all of these guys to be ready that’s that’s I mean when is Colt Emerson going to be like a contending type of a player four years from now maybe maybe but but the but if he’s a dude but it’s four years Gunner did it at 21 you don’t have to be 23 or 24 this game is getting younger you’ve got to come up and spend a year like it generally doesn’t happen in you’re a rookie it generally is your second or third or sometimes fourth year when you really become like I’m willing to I’m like going to be the man on a championship team okay so I’ll just say something I was listening that could be three to five years from now but BR no one’s talking about emptying your farm system I mean I think the great thing Guerrero I don’t think you have to empty it Brocket you the the number of dudes you have in your system nobody in this market right now is wan stto there is not a Wan sto in this market not one there is nobody in this market worth more than one soda okay so take whatever package the Padre’s put together for SoDo or maybe even the one the Yankees put together for SoDo and none of those packages would would rob you of your whole farm system and I don’t think Vlad or bashet or anybody else is even as good as sto so I I don’t know man I don’t I don’t know that I’m believing that okay yeah you might have to give up one or two of these guys but three four five I don’t think so for

  1. Vlad will be coveted by 2 teams needing a 1st baseman. With the injury to Anthony Rizzo, the NYY is looking for 1st baseman. With Jose Abreu DFA’d, the Astros identified Vlad as top trade target. Let the trade wars begin. There will be teams overpaying for scraps of talent available. It is a sellers market and the teams selling, will hold out to very end to get the most prospects for their most valuable assets. That means the low hanging fruit could be traded for now.
