Nikita Gusev LOOKING To Return To The NHL? Are The NJ Devils BRINGING him back?

hey everybody Welcome to Hoy skate down before we get into the video I just want to say thank you to all my subscribers if you want to join our hockey team it’s free click subscribe hit the notification Bell to all thank you all so much and let’s get started so is Nikita gusev looking to make an NHL comeback you know there was a in there was a tweet that went out this morning that kind of intrigued me to do this video maybe it’s something maybe it’s nothing I don’t know but I feel like doing a video on this because you know Nikita gusev has played in the NHL he’s been fa very productive in the KHL since his last time playing in the NHL maybe he’s looking to make an NHL return so stti with me we’ll talk about it in this video so James Nicholls tweeted out this morning Nikita gusev is at New Jersey Devils de development Camp then quickly that that went around social media um he he tweeted out again uh and Amanda Stein as well that the Devils have clarified he’s just in town training and they’re not wrong players do do this we’ve seen it happen you know for example I remember one summer when it was close to pto’s signings for different teams and you know the Devils had open spots on the bottom two lines and Zack Aston Reese was practicing at the credential Center and we all assumed maybe they’re doing it because the devils are going to sign him to a PTO but he did sign a PTO with another team that year so it does happen they’re right sometimes they’re just training uh they’re on ice skating they’re in town but you know the difference between Nik gusev and and a player in the NHL is the KHL doesn’t play anywhere around here they play very far away from where the NHL players play so this is leading me to believe maybe he’s trying to you know get an NHL PTO or a contract for this upcoming year so you know let’s talk about it because Nikita gusev is still at a decent age 31 years old um his his contract with the KHL was just uh it expired last season he had a one-year contract with HC Dynamo Moscow which was for the 23 24 season so I don’t think he has a k contract as of now still at a good age at 31 um he had a really good year in the KHL last year he played 68 games he had 23 goals 66 assists for 89 points over the last three years since his uh departure from the NHL he’s been over a point per game uh per year in the KHL uh his last time playing was the in the NHL was the 2020 21 season when he split time between the devils and the uh Florida Panthers so it’s been a while since he’s played in the NHL and you know he can still get around on the ice you know um you know he’s very he’s a very elusive player so maybe he gets a spot somewhere I don’t know the devil’s still have an open spot on the wing maybe they’re thinking outside the box and maybe thinking of gev I don’t know you know there’s still a couple of names out there left in free agency uh the Devils have one hole left in that uh top six and you’re seeing names quickly being signed off there’s still a couple of names out there I’m not going to mention any cuz the minute I mention them they get signed up so you know U we’ll see what happens will they go towards free agency to sign off on that one remaining spot will they promote from within will they make a trade uh during the year we’ll have to wait and see but maybe this Goose up thing maybe there’s something more behind it than they’re leading to us to believe so comment below what do you think about this is it nothing is it something comment below let me know thank you all for watching I really appreciate your time smash that like button if you haven’t done so And subscribe to the hockey skate down it’s free and join our hockey team thank you all so much have a great rest of the day have a great night take it easy stay safe [Music]

Are the New Jersey Devils Looking Into bringing Back Nikita Gusev. Their was an interesting tweet that came out today from Devils reporter who said Nikita Gusev is At Devils Development Camp and of course it was quickly said he was here training.
My question is why would a KHL player who contract has expired be here training? Gusev has been a very effective player the past 3 seasons in the KHL producing well over a point per game in each 3 seasons. Can the Devils be looking outside the box to fill their top 6 role, will they make a trade at some point or sign a free agent thats left over

  1. If I see Gusev skating next to Jack Hughes for even one shift I will either scream, laugh, or cry and probably do all three.

He's fishing for an official professional tryout I'm sure. I don't see how he'd fit in here even if he proves himself. We have plenty of bottom-6 lineup players after getting Noesen and Cotter and don't need a guy who would have to prove himself to be a third line depth scorer at best.
