  1. Provided Lonzo returns to form (big if), holland develops an average 3 ball, this team would be a title contender in three years.

  2. Lonzo’s return is an inspiring story, but it would be a genuine miracle if he hasn’t suffered some degree of long-term reduction in physical performance from his injury.

Margins in the NBA are razor thin. It doesn’t take much in the way of lost athleticism to bust a career. Lonzo was never very athletic to begin with. If he’s lost even a moderate portion of his, then his NBA career is finished. And his ability to stay healthy may well be permanently compromised in any case.

I wouldn’t take the risk unless some substantial draft compensation were included, and that’s unlikely.

This is besides the point, but Ivey — not Cade — was the primary play driver for the Pistons in transition last season.

  3. So you have 2 guys on offense and 2 guys on defense? I guess I could still picture the Pistons doing that.

  4. Nobody comes back from degenerative knee issues.

It’s bad when you have a high intensity knee injury that does immediate trauma, but you recover from those when you repair the damage.

The problem with Lonzo’s knee is that it’s a degenerative injury that is mostly to do with cartilege damage and arthritis. I played football alot in my youth and unfortunately suffered a lot of ACL injuries which kicked off a lifetime of degenerative problems in my knee as the cartilege became more and more worn away and it’s basically bone on bone now.

    Lonzo is fucked.
