26-year-old right-hander George Kirby is on the mound for the Mariners 17 starts this year with a 335 ER if you look at Kirby it’s about the lack of walks just 82 walks per nine innings at second best in baseball he’s first in baseball in strikeout to walk ratio seventh in whip he has just been uh terrific there comes gunar Henderson his credentials right now if it wasn’t for Aaron judge I think judge probably has a slight lead in MVP race but this kid’s right there here’s a two2 swing and a miss good start for George Kirby and a good fast ball of again just going right after him a lot of life to his heater tonight here’s adley Rond Roos eats it up two down will be Ryan oarn fly Ball Deep to left Ry just shy of the track good ending Good Start George kby Grayson Rodriguez on the bump tonight for the Orioles for Grayson only two starts of four or more runs this season he made 14 starts and about 11 of them have been terrific so he’s been really consistent for the Orioles and he pitched whing in Seattle back on May 18 in Baltimore six Innings just one hit no earn runs and seven strikeouts Crawford launches the ball to center field here Cedric Mullins is back there in a very familiar position and in front of the wall he puts JP Crawford away well they’re still talking about his catch from last year well here’s Ty France up in that number two spot as we mentioned next off of the way swinging a ground ball right to the short stop Gunner Henderson gobbles it up throws the first and time to get France so the Mariners today they’re going to have Luke rley come up here and five of the first six batters are left-handed they have six lefties in the lineup maybe not a great idea lefties way way more of a struggle Ops 572 for lefties 838 for righties a lot more power from right-handed hitters rayley chases a fast ball up and away and after a nine pitch first for Kirby it’s a 10 pitch first for Grayson Rodriguez those score bottom of the second Cal righ leads it off there’s a Fly ball shallow left Center Cal Raleigh who’s going to get there y Colton will yeah Colton cower calls him off which is the way it’s supposed to be done here’s Jorge palano hitting left side up it away 97 and Rodriguez has elevated the heater twice on strikeouts first rley and now palanco and Ken Zone goes down swinging so another one two three and Grayson’s retired the first six Mariners in order or’s left-hander or left fielder I should say Colton Cower has some fans and they’ve showed up with the appropriate attire nice play by Pano to hang with it hard hit B one down good eye right there how about that yeah a rarity the first walk in three games for George Kirby and Mullins a terrific base runner is on first with one out runner goes and got him another one for Kell righ throws out Mullin says the fourth time Mullins has been caught this season two down here in the third now George trying to finish off the frame here against Mato and he’s going to do it as Ken Zone settles under it George Kirby very very good first three Innings gunar Henderson leads off for the Orioles in the fourth inning the major league leader in runs scor Henderson back up the box that ball was absolutely torched right on the Inside Edge and Gunner still gets the batad out for a leadoff single going to ground ball right side palano throws to Second and it hits off of Henderson’s back sliding into the bag and he’s safe it was an aggressive throw to begin with as palano was sliding over towards for his base I’m going to take it back didn’t slide his momentum was taking him that way he had to redirect and throw a long way to Second it does not work out and never everybody is safe one out two on for Santander switch hitter batting Lefty there’s a breaking ball grounded through the middle on the 10th pitch santand there comes through and the Orioles get the first run well Jun was about 13 home runs 60 for the club this is about can you get a hit off a really good pitcher when it counts first leadoff man on the first walk for Seattle today here comes Luke rayy Soley batting in the number three spot tonight for the Mariners and he strikes out reallyy for a second time boy what a pitch really didn’t have it like he has it this year last year it’s almost like a well I mean it’s kind of like a split change up two walks in the inning yeah I don’t think he’s wild I just think he’s wild because he’s trying to use all his pitches and they don’t again you got to go back to what you do best so walk strikeout walk and now palano the grounds of first pitch to short could it be any more Taylor Made inning over and some boo birds start to fly in T-Mobile Park L Mariners rally comes to a close it’s a 63 double play Deuces Wild base is clear last to the fifth 2-2 swing and a miss strike three a little more bullyball as Grayson Rodriguez gets Julio Rodriguez and Mitch hanar backto back some Powder River from Grayson Rodriguez that’s the hardest fast ball of the game and it finishes a perfect fifth inning gner Henderson open up the sixth inning Henderson Rutman and o’ Hearn TA of the order for the OES another strike out for George it’s his fourth second time he’s K Henderson edley Richmond over for two roas Atley wond over for three only three hits for the Oriols only one hit for the Mariners it’s been pretty much just as expected Ryan oarn has only seen three pitches has flat out to left on two of them ohar with a bouncing ball dribbled over the mound and it’s off the glove of palanos had a tricky day at second so Ryan o’n is a two- out base runner here is s tand there having a good night base hit to Center RBI single to right right to the bag that’s a nice play by Ty France the O are turned away in the sixth Mariners still looking for something to happen on the offensive side they’re being one hit by Rodriguez so Ty France has walked twice and the Mariners for the second time have two on with one out Luke rley is at the plate that ball grounded back to Grayson he’ll go to Second low and it’s not caught everybody save and they’re going to look at it o oh I yeah I think he’s out now you can’t tell from that angle I mean just make a good throw not always easy certainly a ball that could have been caught but not where you want it so again I don’t know I don’t know if there’s enough to overturn that the safe call after review the call on the field is overturned the runner is out Baltimore retains CH that is just some play that really could have been a double play should have been a double play with a good throw but man oh man two outs two on and Cal righ is at the plate Mariners trailing by one and he Strikes Out Swinging a mighty Roar from Rodriguez off the mound after six scoreless in Seattle cowser 0 for 12 since his last hit which was a home run against Max Scherer and Colton smacks the breaking ball right through the box let’s see if West goes for third he will and he’ll get there Runners at the corners on consecutive hits from Jordan and Colton over the left left hander Cedric Mullin coming up Scott service is going to make a call we think he hasn’t signal yet you don’t see a lot of manager conversations I don’t think he’s going to want to leave and I don’t think he’s going to that is one of my favorite baseball things the manager comes out the pitcher talks his way into the game it’s old school we’ll see if it works out but George Kirby has a state of execution here and now he’s got to get Cedric and Mullins crowns the ball through the middle another base hit Westberg is in and cowser to third backto backto back singles and Cedric Mullins doubles the Oreo lead like game a shot now Scott servis is going to come out and he is going to take the ball from George Kirby Kirby hands the ball dejected as he leaves the mound with his team in a two- nothing Hall and Rodriguez has made a couple of runs of support to hold up and there’s the line on Grayson who’s been Fab again pretty impressive folks going to get a whole lot better than this Bion effort by Grayson Rodriguez with a chance to win his 10th game so now two on and two away and look who’s coming up here is Julio Rodriguez with a chance to tie the game Rodriguez goes down swinging Kimbrell with a K to end it and the Orioles begin this West Coast road trip with a shut out in Seattle [Music]
