[Anthony DiComo on X] J.D. Martinez (ankle, Amazon purchase) is back in the Mets’ lineup tonight. Adidas overnighted him three emergency pairs of cleats to hold him over until the larger shipment of 30 or so pairs arrives. (A pair of cleats typically lasts him only around three games.)

Meanwhile I’m trying to sneak an extra year out of my 9 year old’s cleats.
As long as he hits, I do not care about how many cleats he needs.
I wish I could get replacement cleats that frequently. Makes you wonder about the waste though. I hope they’re at least donated or something

Guys, JD takes a ton of BP everyday, and he said the cleats are custom molded for him.
He generates so much force from pressure through his feet, that’s what makes him a good hitter.
Yeah I agree it’s weird but this guy has been one of the best hitters in baseball for a decade. Maybe just let him do his thing.
