[Goff] I’m hearing Brooks Lee is being called up to the majors, sources tell me and Wolfson. No word yet if he’ll be in tonight’s starting lineup.

  1. Goff has had pretty reliable info on moves involving the Saints this year. Even if this is true, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Royce’s injury is catastrophic. With the way Lee has been playing the team might see the value in calling him up for an everyday role even if it’s a minimum or near-minimum IL stint

EDIT: Twins make the move official. Royce to the 10-day IL, Stewart to the 60-day IL, and Lee to the majors. He’s batting 8th and playing 3B tonight.

  2. An IL stint was inevitable with how careful they’re gonna be with Royce, as much as he might not like it.

  3. Royce on IL = 😭

Lee to the bigs = 😁

I’m guessing even if they see it as a minimal injury for Royce they’re always going to be cautious and it’s an easy way to get him a few extra rest days with the All-Star Break coming up. He can sit for the next 16 days while missing just 11 games. Instead of the usual 13 games in 14 days, etc. you see mid-Summer.

That being said I’m really excited to see Lee. A switch hitter with his skill set could be a real difference maker in an already above average offense. I hope he rakes and forces them to keep him up.

  4. Really hope he starts tonight with all the rain we are supposed to get the next few days. The Saints are at home too this week so it isn’t like he has to travel to get there or anything.

  5. So Royce will need to be put on the IL, for Lee to get on the 40 man roster correct?

  6. Nothing official on Royce to the IL but assuming that is only a matter of time.
