at the Brewers surprised a lot of people when they trade it for a starting pitcher before the 4th of July they get Aaron savali we’ll talk about him coming up next where he fits under the rotation and day good to have you along here Fourth of July weekend and you know what I know some of you guys I said in the podcast last night we got a beautiful day on tap for today on a Thursday but hey you always want your lockd on Brewers I hear that you want you wanted the locked on Brewers on a holiday so we’re going to recap that game from last night talk about a few other things including the latest addition to the Milwaukee Brewers Aon seali who they get from the Tampa Bay Rays uh we’ll talk about all that K up ree Hoskins as well but Erin saali yeah I was surprised when that when that text came down this morning that they picked them up from Tampa I like the move right off the top I do I I like it he had been struggling in Tampa but I mean he he’s put up some good numbers I think you know he’s about a 500 pitcher but I mean the Brewers gave up the 20 or 21st ranked Prospect in their farm system a guy you know you never want to give up a a good Prospect and and who knows how Gregory beros is going to turn out but this is a guy who’s going to be under control okay it’s not like he’s a rental and a guy who could slide right in and you know I’m not asking him to be a top of the rotation type of guy you know a four or number five starter on this team svali and he did that in Cleveland and he went to Tampa yeah Z was under five or was over five but I like the move I like the move didn’t have to give up a tremendous amount for him again never like giving up a prospect because you never know but still we wanted another starter and here it is the Brewers now are they done as far as starting pitching I mean look at the last couple of weeks they got Kiko and now seali and we’ll see if they’re if they’re going to go after anybody else but I can’t imagine that they will uh again this is a kind of Milwaukee this is well when I say A Milwaukee Brewer move a Milwaukee Brewer move is getting Dallas Kyo a guy who’s at the end of his career you’re hoping to catch lightning in a bottle you know I don’t like using puns and all that but that’s what it is uh Sali is a guy who’s a young pitcher a proven pitcher guy who’s capable of going out there and getting you six innings and striking out six or seven and and getting you some Innings another Innings either so yes this is good uh the rotation right now though stands like this Freddy at the top Freddy Peralta Colin Ray who pitched great pitched great again on uh Wednesday night we’re going to talk about that too Tobias Meers who goes on Thursday uh Dallas kyel Bryce Wilson and Cali you got Peralta Ray Meyers Kao Wilson seali who is the odd man out here who is the odd man out it’s got to be Bryce Wilson first of all you’re not taking Freddy out of that starting rotation he’s obviously there no-brainer Colin Ray’s been doing too much Bulldog work to take him out of the rotation and the guy pitched seven strong in Co field on a warm night 97 pitches and has proven he’s a Bonafide starter with this team 34 years old but Colin Ray has found himself a home on the 2024 Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation Tobias Meers Nob brainer no-brainer uh his last outing little roughed up in this first inning stuck around for six Innings but Tobias Meers is the man he ain’t coming out of this rotation so that leaves me with and svali is going to get a spot they trade it for him so that’s four guys Dallas kyel or Wilson now had kyel had a bad outing the other night and it might have been headed that direction if he had not redeemed himself over the final few Innings there he might have been the odd man out but it’s Bryce Wilson Bryce Wilson I think Bryce has been terrific in the starting role he’s given up some home runs but I think Bryce has been fine in that starting rle well he’s he’s come on I say starter but they’ve had an opener for him a few times and then WI has come on and pitched you know the time before this last start he pitched great six strong Innings so Wilson has done a lot of that but now we put him to the bullpen in Long relief and we make a strength in the bullpen even stronger by adding Bryce Wilson out there I’m okay with that and you know what six you have these six guys who can start right now and if just in case there’s another injury you never know because injuries with starting pitchers seem to be the thing with these guys uh let’s just keep on moving on and and doing what we’re doing and keep next man up mentality and we’ll throw Wilson out in the bullpen and he’ll join the other guys um you know junas just came off the injured list the other day saw him on Tuesday night two solid Innings got the save the ninth different Brewer to get a save this year I kind of like the way junas was throwing two strong on on Wednesday night two strong Innings uh Ross you asked what happens with him who knows when he’s coming back I mean his comeback they continues to get pushed pushed pushed now they say at the end of July he’s coming back but who knows on that uh we don’t have time to waste DL Hall DL Hall sorry big fella unless one of these guys falter in that starting rotation DL Hall going back to the bullpen where he was in Baltimore last year so yeah my starting rotation right now Peralta Ray Meyers kikel until he fall if he does I’m not I shouldn’t say until he does if he does you know tayron was so good and I said I think he’s the Kyo is this year’s tayron if he he’s got an opportunity to come in uh for kyo’s sake if they make the postseason hopefully he’s on the postseason roster we won’t even think about that at this point um because tayron was left off um but Peralta Ray Meers kyel and seali uh that’s okay and Kiko falters you have Wilson as a fallback plan to go back to as a starter and maybe DL hall or whatever um however this shakes out it always works out these things as I’ve always said you know you like with the Outfield spot it looks really crowded really congested but it always seems to find its way and work its way out and yeah there’s room for another starter they went out got themselves another starter I don’t think they will but who knows at this point who knows Chuck freemen here on basketball game and got right at it and talked about ree Hoskins and how great of a signing this was uh two years 34 million guaranteed now here’s the deal 12 million for 2024 I was so good with that 12 million for 2024 11 home runs batting in the 220s uh you know the the the power numbers were coming on before he went down with the hamstring injury rounding first base he came down with a hamstring injury has not quite been what we thought he was going to be and maybe the knee and the hamstring maybe that’s all tied together the guy was coming off knee surgery and he’s got a option for 2025 it’s his option for 18 million and you have to ask yourself are you holding your breath at this point hoping that he doesn’t pick up that $18 million option because then you got to play him then you gotta then he’s on your team he’s got the option for 2025 he’s got the power in this uh so but if he has a a mediocre or less than mediocre year you have to think that reys Hoskins is gonna pick up that $18 million option give himself a mulligan and try again next year for 2026 it’s a mutual option for 18 million so this one’s guaranteed 20 25 it’s his option 2026 it’s mutually guaranteed for for $18 million um at this point if I would to if I were you were to ask me do you want reys Hoskins to pick up that option for 2025 I would say no at this point and and and I’m a huge Hoskins fan the guys at Philly Legend you saw when he went back to Philly he’s had a he had a ton of big moments with the Philadelphia Phillies it’s not translated so far over half a season yeah I’m disappointed guys hitting in 220s only 11 home runs did miss a month of the season because of the hamstring uh yeah I’m disappointed you know he came through using his head the other night getting hit with the pitch and that go-ahead run came across Tuesday night in Colorado grounded up Monday night in Extra Innings the third base he’s come up and made some big outs this year again right before he got hurt the hamstring injury he was coming on and I’m going to give him some more time but if you were to tell me right now I’ve not given up on reys but if you’re asking me right now please Reese don’t pick up that 2025 option never thought I’d say that I thought he’d come in and hit me I said 35 home runs boy the power just isn’t there right now it’s just not there and I’m sure he’s frustrated as well but got a whole second half of the Season let’s get the big fella if he’s the knee is bothering him or the hammy is bothering him let’s get him going you’re gonna need him need reys Hoskins for this the remaining of this season 2024 got to play first base got a bet play against the left-handers reys Hoskins still some big moments I hope ahead for Hoskins I again I love this move when it when the Brewers made it might be eating a little crow on it right now halfway through the season might be eating a lot of crow especially since I would not want if this was the Brewers option I would say no at this point don’t pick up 2025 Reese this got as the option on here please ree as of right now if the season was over I’d say not at all but God they loved him in Philadelphia there was something about Philly knew something there with that knee that they said n we’re good we’re good at we’re good young player yet but they were good good they let him go they let him go walk the free agency he was one of the top names out there we all wanted to sign ree Hoskins some of us wanted to sign Joey or Joey vat reys Hoskins it was and so far it’s been a little bit of a disappointment in my book all two Allstars deservedly so but how many of you thought that Christian Yelich would ever make an All-Star team again I mean his last time he made a team is 2019 we’ve known what’s happened since then knee injury back issues production not there but y’s bounce back sounds like he’s GNA play center field representing the national league I love it yelli to me what an amazing comeback we left this guy for being least ided mediocrity because we had a big sample size there we I never would have guessed he would have been an All-Star again much less a starter guy is starting in the All-Star game going to start in center field Murphy asked at the press conference tonight what they yellich starting against center field yeah he can do it of course he can Yelich flagged down that ball tonight running into the Gap in the eighth inning left center field made a lot of a lot of great defensive plays this year Yi more power to him Allstar again third time first time since 2019 never thought we’d be talking about yelli as an Allstar again how about contras there’s a guy who’s gonna be a multiple time well he already is a multiple time all all star second time for him he’s gonna be starting catcher how about him racing over and uh catching that popup on Wednesday night mask and helmet in hand reached up and just like the old Pro he is young pro he is I say Old Pro because he plays like a talk about him a couple of weeks ago but Migel deserves consideration for the All-Star team and several others as well no doubt about it Ortiz was I think headed for a reserve spot on that All-Star team instead he said it for the injured list that that neck his numbers have gone down lately he has not been hitting and we’re I’m going to say it’s because of the neck who knows but he’s been bothered by a sore neck and hopefully that’s nothing anything more than a sore neck let’s just say that anything more than a sore neck um but he’s going to a trip on the iil on the injured res injured list the iil because we can’t call it the disabled list anymore can’t call it the injured reserve that’s football injured list Ortiz I should know that caught the injured list we got 5,000 guys on the injured list already uh who also went on op parus went on the injured list as well got some tendonitis going on in the arm so one guy after another uh on the injured list so two more guys go on the injured list yet the train keeps moving for the Milwaukee Brewers they keep winning yeah three- nothing shut out on on Wednesday night behind Colin Ray the seven strong innings the 97 pitches and I mentioned about Judas sucking up the final two innings in relief and saving the back end of the bullpen saving the back end of the bullpen Migel I believe was not available anyway out of the bullpen giving Hudson a little bit of a rest after he threw a lot of pitches uh in the eighth Inning on Tuesday night so he was likely unavailable as well uh so Tobias Harris Tobias Harris Tobias my I mean I don’t know many tobias’s in the world Tobias Harris Tobias Meers only Tobias Meers I think there was a Tobias on them on that TV show oz so three tobias’s I don’t personally know any Tobias but Tobias
