  1. So this pretty much means that we are done right? Obviously shit can change quickly but other than that?

  2. So Berggren and Edvinsson are basically confirmed as locks for the roster next year. Which we all assumed, but it’s nice to hear that Steve is thinking the same thing.

  3. Sounds like AJo is gonna start in AHL. Not a guarantee but didn’t make it sound like he’s gonna play until the first guy gets hurt

  4. RECAP:

3 goalies will compete in camp assess keeping 2 or 3 then, sounds like Husso isn’t fully healthy yet

Not an immediate trade in the works but thinks that another move could happen, sounds like we’re done signing players

Expects more from Cat/Raymond, Cat shooting percentage was lower than average he expects that to improve

Likes D core right now expects big role from Edvinsson

Berggren got a shout out as a possible contributor

    ASP back to SHL

Has numbers set aside for the RFAs for both short and long term, question of when not if they’ll get signed, all comes down to term

Stressed patience with prospects it takes time to put together the core and he’s still piecing it together

Berggren, AlJo and Ed will all be in the lineup

End of last year was a little misleading need to fix a lot of things to be a playoff team, pressure isn’t affecting decisions, stressing this takes time

Feels like they’re in that group of teams that are close, expectations are similar to last year

If Lucas can continue his trajectory he believes he’s an impact player

We were in on one big free agent but it’d have required “surgery” and would be a challenge to get done, had to adjust path

Perron and Ghost talked up until FA opened just couldn’t agree to a deal that worked out

Expected the big names to get big deals, the interesting part to Yzerman was the term and money given to role players, wasn’t our model, but the term was “attention grabbing”

Doesn’t seek out Michigan born players but those players indicate they want to come home and it starts a conversation not all Michigan natives make sense contract wise or the role they’d play

When we traded Walman, we needed to move out money on backend, also mentioned what role the player would be in, sounds like he wanted a path for AlJo and Ed, highlighted how cost effective those guys are

Gustafsson can play right side he’s the Ghost replacement, AlJo can also play right side if needed

Pleased with D Core right now, ask him again in a few months, has a vision for what the pairings will look like

Fischer popular in the room, very versatile, for the role he believes we got good value

Husso injury history played a significant factor into us adding in net, have to see how he performs in camp then we’ll make a decision

Larkin is training doesn’t believe he’s back on the ice yet

All players who have been injured will be ready for camp

Spoke on how much more information and resources young players have now in terms of development

Stream abruptly cut out as he said see you at the trade deadline

  5. This was the most forthcoming he has been in a long time. I do feel for him, this has to be one of the hardest rebuilds to ever navigate with: the horrible contracts, bad lottery luck, zero farm system, etc. He is still sticking to his guns and trying to build a core. We aren’t going to look like Edmonton most likely, or even Florida, but maybe we can be a Vegas or St. Louis.

  6. Steve mentioned Albert Johansen by name 3 different times without specifically being asked about him.

It’s clear the organization values him very highly, how that works out going forward should be interesting.

  7. Im glad to hear hes still focused on the long term goal of getting a core group to compete for the cup.
    Very reassuring.
