[Shams] The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a deal acquiring Buddy Hield via sign-and-trade from the 76ers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. New teammates Hield and Stephen Curry are leaders for most 3-pointers made over the last 5 NBA seasons – and now will be teammates.

  1. Wonder if they couldn’t fold the deal into a multi-team Lauri trade and that’s why this took a sec

  2. I sincerely apologize MDJ i was not familiar with your game

edit: getting Buddy for 2 years 18 million is amazing and having him for a potential 4 years is pretty hype

  3. I wonder what contract terms are? Has to be at least 3 years, and what’s going back out? He can be great as a gunner off the bench, in the role they most likely wanted Klay to fill.

  4. For cheap too! Only a second round pick for him. Wonder what else Dunleavy is cooking 🤔

  5. Might be time to move on from Lauri and go get Ingram before someone else does. This team will be competitive if we can get either of those guys and don’t want us to miss out on

  6. So long, 2031 Dallas second-round pick and thank you for all the memories.

Jokes aside, this is a great roleplayer addition.

  7. I remember him being comped to Steph during his draft season. Now he gets to play with him

  8. IN THE SPOT AND I CAME WITH THE FELLAS 💪

We are SO FUCKING BACK don’t give us shooters

  9. Most teams don’t even use their TPE’s, Dunleavy got Buddy + Slo Mo.

A sign and trade requires 3 years minimum, at least one year guaranteed. Wonder what the contract looks like. If it’s fitting into the rest of Klay’s traded player exception, he’s not getting a high annual, so maybe Buddy has a player option in year 2/3?

e: 4yrs, $21M guaranteed. $18M through first two, partial guarantee in year 3, some type of player option in year 4.

Looks like they can get out pretty pain free after two years, would let them avoid a potential 4th year player option in Buddy’s age 35 season.
Basically a 2yrs, $21M deal at that point… $11M a season seems pretty reasonable for Buddy, but I guess I didn’t really watch him much this season.

If he’s getting around $7.3M in year one, how does he jump all the way up to $10.7M in year two? Pretty big percent raise, some type of cap fuckery?

  10. Great move.

Getting the 7th man production we’d want from Klay but without the pouting. Shooting-wise Buddy is the next-best thing to Klay and defensively it’s a wash (only because Klay has fallen off badly). Buddy has also been very durable.

Most importantly, Buddy knows he’s a role player, so Kerr can manage him like one.

  11. Moses sitting at home watching the Ws acquire Waters, Melton and Hield….👀

  12. Ive always liked Buddy, ever since he was at OK. I’m starting to like the team a lot, I think we’re better than last year already.

  13. Hield also doesn’t miss games. 79 gp average at 15ppg is not bad. Edit: Dude played 84 games last year 😮

  14. really great guy to have off the bench with kyle Anderson. i think melton starting at 2 with steph seems to be the move due to his defense and solid outside shooting

I hate that there’s already framing starting to try to make it sound like Hield is a better than Klay replacement like why are we doing 5 NBA seasons as the timespan, and therefore intentionally including 2 seasons Klay was out with injury, if not for that purpose?

And [StatMuse](https://x.com/statmuse/status/1808352982548840603?s=46) has already started calling him and Steph the new Splash Bros. 🙄

We can be excited and celebrate having another volume 3pt shooter of his caliber on the team, something we desperately need especially without Klay, without needing to make attempts to downplay what Klay was on the Warriors (and is still as a shooter), and in the backcourt alongside Steph, most especially.

Also full terms of the contract from [Woj](https://x.com/wojespn/status/1808932735819657226?s=46), albeit unnecessarily confusing in its wording:

    > Free agent Buddy Hield is joining Golden State on a sign-and-trade deal guaranteed for two years and $21 million. Hield gets $18M in first two years, a $3M partial guarantee in 3rd year and player option on non-guaranteed 4th year. Warriors send Sixers 2031 second via Dallas.

Edit to add: I wonder how they’re able to do $9 mil the first two years when there was only $7,301,587 left on Klay’s TPE??

  16. I’m as excited as yall for another shooter to be on the court with Steph, and I’ve been high on Buddy since his Kings days with Fox… BUT we need to hope he gets back to form because realistically he hasn’t been very good the past couple of seasons. Mostly because he was barely played due to lack of defense.

  17. Buddy’s great as a sharpshooter but he’s always seemed more interested in hoisting than winning games. I guess that’s not a major issue if he’s just coming off the bench for spacing. Basically what we were hoping Klay could do. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of percentages he can put up playing next to someone with Steph’s gravity.
