Astros’ Jon Singleton has figured out there’s more to life than baseball

  1. Everyone hardcore Astros fan knows the basic Jon Singleton story: He’s the quiet, power-hitting first baseman who wows spectators with his exit velocities and dramatic bat flips.

Singleton’s return to the franchise is the latest leg of his improbable, roundabout journey back to the Major Leagues after failed drug tests for marijuana ultimately led to his leaving the team in 2018. Once released by the Astros, Singleton took a three-year break from the game before joining the Mexican League in 2021. From there, Singleton signed with the Milwaukee Brewers before rejoining Houston in June of 2023.

But there’s more to Jon, according to his wife, Linzy Singleton, who says her husband has found peace in fatherhood: taking his kids to Disneyland, re-watching the Star Wars movies before each new release and perfecting family dinners in the kitchen.

    >”I think it’s about growing up,” she said. “At the end of the day, he has now learned to separate what happens on the field and then what happens off the field.”

    Happy Fourth of July, r/Astros!

  2. Great dude. Glad he’s getting this opportunity to start regularly and taking advantage of it for the moment.
